I’m pretty sure this song was inspired from two great sci-fi movies from the 60’s called ‘Village of the Damned’ and ‘Children of the Damned’

It's been a long wait to see you react to this one. It's been a thing of passion to me for many years, and if you ask me, one of the finest songs Maiden have ever done. The Number of the Beast album is stuffed with excellent music, most, if not all song on that album are worth of being called anthems. On the album version, Bruce finishes the song with a window shattering scream, and as you would imagine, it's awesome. The album I had on picture disc, and normal black vinyl. The latter would often upset a lot of the neighbourhood, well, it demanded being loud, it's metal after all, and quiet metal is the 8th deadly sin. I played this so much the track were starting to sound all fluffy and muffled. Really have to get it CD one day. I need some money first though. I'm so happy you like this one so much, it sounds just as good when the guys are waring pyjamas instead of spray paint pants...LOL Catch you next time Randi.

I got to see this show when they opened for Judas Priest on the US tour. 40 years later still the best double bill ever seen in all the shows I'd seen.

HI Randi, they don't call Bruce "The Human Air Raid Siren" for no reason! He's a man of many talents, around about this time he was a very good fencer, ranked 6or7th in the UK, and was under consideration for the British Olympic fencing team. He has a commercial pilots licence, and flies the band on their tours. They upgraded from a Boeing 757 to a Boeing 747 for their "Book Of Souls" tour, so he had to upgrade his licence to a four engine one. Iron Maiden have a line -up of 3 lead guitars now. Incidentally, if you like drums, check out Def Leppard. The only rock band with a one armed drummer! He lost it in a car wreck in 1982, and instead of replacing him, the band waited for him to recover, and learn to play again.

It would be great if you considered reacting to a live performance like this from '82 and then fast forwarded 35 years to do a 2nd reaction of the song (from the Book of Souls live stream, Montreal). This is where Maiden stands alone in the rock world, in terms of maintaining the same quality and energy over decades. See for yourself. I saw this played in both '82 and 2017 and was just blown away by the 2017 performance. I actually think it was better.
