Same here, but I also lucked out on MSG's "One Night at Budokan", Uriah Heep's "Live January 1973", "Magnum's "Chase The Dragon" and Journey's "Escape" albums on cassette! I just picked those bands and albums without giving them a test listening at the store and brought the tapes to the college in '83. I've bought tapes and ended up not liking the band (or the album), but the ones I listed above - as well as Number of The Beast stayed with me to this day. While everyone else was rocking to the Scorpions, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath in their dorms, I was singing and humming "Hallowed Be Thy Name" as I did my weekly laundry! I think I was among the very few students on the campus to have owned the Number of the Beast on tape! 😀

Saw Maiden back in 1984/85, they were absolutely untouchable. Took me about a week to recover from that experience. They were beyond great. 40 years later, it's still the best sound production I have ever heard at a live show. You could literally hear every nuance, every breath.

This is the metal I grew up with. They were my favorite metal band for 40 years (1982 - 2022) until a band called Lovebites came along. The next songs I'd recommend, in no particular order, when you do Iron Maiden again, are: Where Eagles Dare (Live At Ullevi, Sweden) Fear of the Dark (Live Rock in Rio) The Longest Day (about D-Day) Play this one next month on Tuesday June 6, 2023 (D-Day Anniversary) Aces High (studio) Powerslave (studio) Alexander the Great (lyric video) Revelations (lyric video) The Clansman - (Rock In Rio 2001) Dance Of Death - En Vivo! Great reaction and thanks for sharing. Normally I suggest reactors to listen to the studio album version of a song first, with lyrics available. But alot of the times Iron Maiden, studio/live is not much different. As this recording was actually just days before the release of the album this song was on, the audience had never heard the song or even Bruce sing the song with Iron Maiden. As Bruce just joined the band and this was his first album. Normally live Iron Maiden songs have tons of audience participation. Iron Maiden is also one of the bands from a bygone era where they recorded the songs live in the studio in a complete playthru. So playing live is easier for them. I have been to their concerts in 5 of the 6 decades they have toured. I never saw them in the 1970's but have seen them live in the 80's, 90's, 00's, 10's and now the 20's as my daughter took me this last summer. As a next song I would recommend 'Fear of the Dark' live at Rock in Rio. This will show you another great live show, only a small intimate crowd of 250,000 singing along to a song in a language that is not their normal language. Iron Maiden is huge. You just cannot go wrong going down this rabbit hole. If you need song recommendations just ask. This song is from 40+ years ago, but their latest releases include the song 'The Writing on the Wall' and it is a masterpiece as well coming out just a few years ago. Good Luck, Chris

Iron Maiden is one of the greatest heavy metal band & also best live band in the world. If you want to know about this band then please visit wikipedia. All band members are very talented & energetic. Hallowed Be Thy Name is one of my most favourite song. In this song first solo played by Lead Guitarist Mr. Dave Murray & second was Mr. Adrian Smith, Lead Vocalist - Bruce Dickinson (A man with many talents), World's No.1 Heavy Metal Bassist, Songwriter & Founder of This Band - Mr. Steve Harris & Drummer - Mr. Clive Burr (He was member from 1979 to 1982 & Died on 2013) - He was also very talented drummer & his drumming style is unique. 🔥 Later in 1982 Also a legendary Drummer Mr. Nicko Mcbrain joined this band & still perform live. His current age is 71. Other guitarists are 67 years old but Bruce is 65. Their another guitarist is Mr. Janick Gers (He joined in 1990 after Adrian Smith left. Stayed in the band even after Adrian returned) Btw Their past lead singer was Paul Di'Anno (1978 to 1981) & Guitarist - Dennis Stratton (1979 to 1980), One more thing Mr. Blaze Bayley was also the lead singer of this band during Bruce Dickinson's absence From 1994 to 1999 For his throat cancer & later he joined again after recovery. His voice is very powerful. Up The Irons From India. 🤘🔥❤️😇

Hi Ola welcome to the Maiden family you will love being part of it, anyway I've been a Maiden fan since hearing them as a teenager back in the mid 80's for me they are the greatest heavy metal band ever and it's because of Dave and Adrian the two guitarists that I first picked up the guitar and are still playing to this day, Anyway so glad you enjoyed this song from them and they are still going today, also the singer Bruce had throat cancer back in 2015 and made a full recovery and still sings pretty much as good today as he did in his early days, of course the cancer and his age has effected him to a small degree these days but he still belts them out and still puts on a hell of a show, in fact the whole band does despite them being in there 60's and 70's, As for more songs from them you should check out there are so many but I think you would enjoy Fear of the Dark (En Vivo), or Rime of the Ancient Mariner from the live after death concert, or one of my favourites Wasted Years from the live concert Maiden England, in fact any of the songs from the Maiden England concert are worth reacting to, or check out the official music videos to Stranger in a Strange Land, Run to the Hills, Where Eagles dare, Flight of Icarus, Number Of the Beast and so on, anyway I'm looking forward to your next Maiden reaction.

The Trooper or Run to the hills should be your next foray in Iron Maiden as they are short 4 minute long bangers, after that you should delve in their opus's Dance of Death, The Parchment, Fear of the Dark, Blood Brothers, Alexander the Great, For the Greater Good of God (all around the 10 minute mark in length). Then Rime of the Ancient Mariner (14 minutes and change), then their magnum opus Empire of the Clouds (18+ minutes in length). Enjoy the journey you have just begun.

Iron Maiden is my all time favorite band, I’m a 58 year old US Army Cold War era Veteran and grew up with bands like this. I love Rock/Metal, but like a bit of other genres songs as well, such as a band I discovered just 4 years ago from Mongolia that is now my 2nd favorite band of all time. They’re classified as a Mongolian folk/metal band, they use a combination of traditional and modern instruments as well as Mongolian throat singing. They’re called “The Hu”, and if you haven’t heard them, I suggest starting with “The Wolf Totem” and have CC turned on for translation of the lyrics. They will blow your mind.

Iron Maiden falls into the category of classic 80's heavy metal... They include bands like - Judas Priest, Motorhead, Saxon, Accept, Manowar, Skid Row, Dio, Ozzy Osbourne, Riot, Helloween, Loudness, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Flotsam & Jetsam, Armored Saint, Queensryche, Savatage, etc. Now, the 80's also produced hard rock bands or glam rock bands that included these bands - Motley Crue, Guns N' Roses, Poison, Warrant, Scorpions, Def Leppard, Tesla, Europe, L.A. Guns, Quiet Riot, Dokken, Bon Jovi, Kix, Whitesnake, Kiss, Twisted Sister, Van Halen, etc. Some of these hard rock bands debuted in the 70's - Aerosmith, Rush, Kiss, Blue Oyster Cult, Van Halen, Judas Priest, The Ramones, Scorpions, Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, The Clash, Queen, Rainbow, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Riot, etc. 80's thrash or speed metal bands that were a notch above 'heavy metal' were - Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth, Exodus, Death, Testament, Sepultura, Kreator, Sodom, Destruction, Onslaught, Artillery, Venom, Running Wild, Morbid Angel, Celtic Frost, Voivod, etc. But it all came from the founding bands formed in the 60's and dominating the 70's - Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, & Alice Cooper.

Some efCTS bout Bruce Dickinson. He is cLLED “DTHE AIR RAID SIREN OF METAL” He was also a British royal Air Force fighter pilot and he flies the band on his own Boeing 747 plane. He also co-owns an airplane leasing company. Very intelligent
