The lesson takes you through all of the guitar sections.
Bass player Steve Harris, who wrote this song, explained: "This is a very long song that was done in sections. The middle part was totally separate but it fit in very well. It felt right to go from the slow part into the middle section. Phantom is one of the best pieces I've ever written, and certainly one of the most enjoyable to play. It's got all these intricate guitar lines which keep it interesting. Then there's the slow middle part which creates quite a good mood. It's also got fast heavy parts which are really rockin'. And it's also got areas for crowd participation. It pretty much covers all the bases for the band. It was also a good example of what I wanted to get across."

I learnt basic chords years ago but never really progressed beyond that. Been getting back into it again lately and bought myself an Iron Maiden tab book (25 Metal Masterpieces) - the solos are a bit too complex for me at this stage but finding a good balance of playable riffs and single note melody bits that I'm getting the hang of. The tab book is great, but it does help a lot dipping into these videos too to hear what I'm meant to be playing. Looking forward to working my way through more of these!

I learnt to play this over 30 years ago. I couldn't play now would have to relearn. I must of made my fingers bleed learning this . And paganini 5 . Had a westone series 2 with a 2 octave. neck . Also had long hair back then lol

Hey there, thanks for making the video. I have always had some trouble with the part that starts at 9:55. After playing the 17 fret note on the B string, I get string noise when taking my finger off the 17 fret right before doing the next pull off from 19 to 15 on the E string. You don't have that issue. Are you muting the string to prevent noise somehow?

Ho sorry fro the delay getting back to you. Yes I have the tip of my first finger touching the b string when I raise my finger of the string which you can see in the lesson. As I raise the finger and the string raises of the fretboard it is then mutes against my finger. Sorry I couldnt help it, but if you slow it down, you find that after 7,4 on the g in the opening, its 5 on the d, 6,5, on the g, then back to 5 ,4,5,7 on the d, rather than what you suggested. Just thought I let you all know so your playing it correctly.

Hi Eduardo It probably is a little faster but this a lesson n how to play the parts of the song. There are enough KZbin video of people laying along with the backing track. As for the solo. I find most students trying to learn these song just want the rhythm parts to learn and are happy with that. I do appreciate you comments though and in some of my Maiden lesson I have included the solo.
