Roger Patterson wrote that album those bass lines before he died at age 22 some even at age 20 and Tony Choy (who recorded Patterson's bass lines) had to omit and rewrite a few lines because he couldn't play them. Steve Flynn had some amazing drum work too. Not to mention around the time of the RAVAGE demo they were already way ahead of many. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5vQg395eLiNl7M kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2jYdWyNpLl9iqs kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHTGdGZ3hsx-hbM kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipXKpHqerL-ajtE

No Maiden performance will ever top this. There is just so amazing energy in it, an air of anger, ambition, violence and hope. No theatrics, no huge stadiums, just pure heart and great playing. And, of course, Paul Di Anno whose voice I consider among the best rock voices ever, plus the impeccable drum machine called Clive Burr, may he rest in peace. Bruce is an excellent singer and Nicko is a good technician (although rhythmically somewhat unstable), but that line up was just the best, the true Iron Maiden. Harsh, dirty, punky, street metal - and it has aged so much better than the Bruce stuff of the stadium era.

Fantastic track...I think Phantom of the Opera really show cases what a classic maiden track should be. Clive, Dennis and Paul all helped get Maiden off the ground and we should not try and air brush them out of maiden history. Maybe one day get Paul, Bruce and Blaze all on the same stage singing together would be epic!!

Di'anno owns this song compared to the way Bruce sings it. The entirety of Killers and Iron Maiden was fit for Di'anno. That being said, Di'Anno could never sing most of the Maiden classics the way Bruce does.

+maidenrulz73 Yep. Nicko is vastly inferior and doesn't hold a candle to Clive's savagery. The stated reason for kicking him out was bullshit too. "Substance abuse problems" my ass. Everyone was going through shit like that, even Bruce has stated it himself. To this day, they haven't given a proper explanation for why they sacked the poor guy.
@scottwoods64199 жыл бұрын
+ShadowStrangle55 The greatest tragedy in the history of Metal. Nicko is a joke compared to Clive. I saw 2 nights of the Powerslave tour (the nights they recorded in Long Beach for Live After Death) The drumming on Clive's songs was pathetic. Nicko can't pull off any of Clive's songs. I don't care how many fucking albums they put out, the first 3 with Clive were vastly superior to anything since.
@19megamustaine859 жыл бұрын
+Hellraiser Gordon who sacked him mainly Steve right ?
@GorditoCrunch3439 жыл бұрын
+György Hirschléger Yeah, Steve is the overlord of the band. Him and Rod Smallwood most likely came to a collective decision to replace Clive with Nicko. I'm also suspicious that Nicko may have influenced their decision as well, since he was their roadie at the time. Of course, they all blame it on "substance abuse".
