About Iron Maiden:
Iron Maiden are an institution. Over the course of 44 years they have come to embody a spirit of fearless creative independence, ferocious dedication to their fans, and a cheerful indifference to their critics that’s won them a following that spans every culture, generation, and time-zone. A story of gritty determination and courageous defiance of the naysayers, theirs has been an adventure like no other.
The band’s immense discography includes the studio albums ‘The Number Of The Beast’, ‘Piece Of Mind’, ‘Powerslave, ‘Somewhere In Time’, ‘Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son’, ‘Fear Of The Dark’, ‘The Final Frontier’ and ‘The Book Of Souls’which have spawned many classic hits as ‘The Trooper’, ‘Wasted Years’, ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’, ‘Wasting Love’, ‘Run To The Hills’, ‘Aces High’, ‘Rime Of The Ancient Mariner’ and ‘2 Minutes to Midnight’.

(Lyrics) Put to the sword by an impish whim Follow me now to a place we begin Wrought with no anger, wrought with no fear Devilish children playing here Hidden in silence, below barren waste Confusion hunger, am I still awake? Have I ever told you about my Time Machine Sit you down I'll tell you everywhere I've been I have lived a long life, life extraordinaire Let me tell you about it, let me take you there Does it really matter, it's all in the mind Let me tell you about it, listen what you'll find (chorus) I am not a Preacher, I am but a man You cannot imagine what I've seen and done I have lived a long life, I have seen the world I could tell you stories, hair will stand on end Stand among the steeples, stand upon the walls I have seen a God's face, I have no disgrace I have seen the God's cry, Howling in the wind Where do I get started, when can I begin (bridge 1) Sleep with a light that is dark to my eyes Father and sons give me all of your lies The brutal truth, that is never a lie Full moon is out, as you look to the sky (bridge 2) Open your heart and I'll open your soul Even in quieter moments I know (Outro) Eerie collection, darkness is there, Wedded to danger, Betrothed to despair

not really, it has some great songs but there are some real problems, the production per usual with Shirley is terrible, the idea that studio albums should replicate the live sound is one of the ideas i just cant understand or support. Maiden should sound as crisp and clear and bombastic as possible. On this album there are two issues that go hand in hand. 1. some songs are way too long and have acoustic sections that are way too drawn out. In addition many have repetitive riffs and melodies that are very similar to past Maiden songs. These acoustic passages are not neccesary and i even skip them at times because they feel like they are to fill time (which is strange given the albums overall length) and not necessarily elevate the quality of the song

Janick's début with Maiden were tough. He sounded so bad live (some solos on Live at Donington, Real Live Ones and Real Dead Ones are horrible) but he managed to develop into what Maiden needed and his energy live is unmatched. Adrian's return also helped him because the sound is so full now that he can be even more free on stage.

I only think it's a cheap device to do something that resembles another song as in the Intro and the Outro with acoustic guitar. It really feels like The Talisman 2.0. They are genius musicans, wish they could come up with something new... Good song nonetheless.

There is not a bad song in this album at all. Every song is a pure masterpiece and it shows what Iron Maiden can do, even with Bruce on crutches and having had throat cancer, Bruce, Gers, Harris and Iron Maiden have truly created an album like no other. Every song you can feel from the heart, the guitars, drums truly Iron Maiden fans understand this. I have heard "the album is too long. Kevin Shirley needs to be sacked" I don't believe anyone should be sacked for their part for the album, long songs, short songs, who cares? It's music, it's what we need, Instead of haters, they should appreciate what goes in to making an album, what an album it is too. I never want the album to end. You could hear this all day and never get bored of the songs, that's a fact. I won't be able to see Iron Maiden in concert but I wish I could, I would love to attend Donington next year to see Maiden live. It'll be one of their best ever performances. I am so proud to be a Maiden fan and I have been since 1984. I seen Iron Maiden 5x so I have been lucky to see them. Best British rock band and they know how to do a performance. This song would fit perfectly in The X Factor album. 1. Dark, mystical intro with some gloomy guitar sound. This combined with some mystical whispering/talking vocal 2. Turnover to a very heavy power chord based riff, but the same melody 3. At about 3 minutes in, sudden turnover to a high-pitched, fast guitar melody 4. New verse, followed up by the same fast guitar melody 5. Guitar solo, mostly based on playing fast rather than melodies. 6. Dark, mystical outro, similar to the intro Listen to "The Edge of Darkness" at 2:56. Literally the same riff as "The Time Machine" at 3:13 However one of my favourites from the new album!
