This is a great video. Finally an in depth installation done the way 99.6% of the people without a lift would have to install with basic tools, jacks and jackstands. I love DIY, bit I think this video convinced me to do professional installation mainly because I have a gravel driveway. Thanks for the video.

The video didn't show this but their website mentioned it in red font. Do not remove the bushings for the lower shackle. You will have two extra green bushing pair on the kit but that's okay. I didn't know this until someone mentioned in the column.

I just did my install on a 2012 SR5 4x4 and it wasn’t as easy as a brand new truck but it was still somewhat straight forward. ***NOTE**** As if this post call IronMan USA and have them check your date code on them. The drivers side were built incorrectly. Easy fix is to swap the bolts around so the threads are on the outside and won’t bite into the fuel tank and cause a leak. The upper control arms wouldn’t push up out of the way for me so I had to loosen them before they would move. The pinch weld sucks. I used a large pair of channel lock pliers. Like super large. Or a 36” pry bar and block of wood. A 19mm ratcheting box end wrench is needed. If you don’t have one. Get one. Box end 17 and 14mm. Red tacky grease for the bushings works great. Everything was very heavy and well made for sure. I did put the rear shocks on somewhat backwards I think. The logos are inboard now. But I don’t care about the logos.

@Ironman4x4America Жыл бұрын
Typically there is no need with that amount of lift. But you can always cycle your suspension to see if the lines are long enough, mostly important with the rear end. Then you know for certain and can make an educated decision based on what your specific truck needs.

Juuuuuust got finished on my ‘16. Yeah I had to cut the passenger side too. There was no way it was flexing out of the way, especially with the wiring harness reinforcing plate right there that was hooking against the bolt head on the body. Also I gave up on the sway bar and just removed the front skid and the sway bar mounts to give me more room on the coilover install.

Did you need a CMC to fit 285/75/17 or just the UCAs and good alignment?
@Ironman4x4America6 ай бұрын
I would suggest a cab mount chop if you're running a 285/75/17 to ensure you'll have no rubbing with wheels fully locked under articulation. UCA's & a good alignment will help but doesn't always ensure clearance. Many different factors will play into this.

I just purchased the foam cell pro kit for my 99 LX470- I contacted Slee Off-road to inquire about if I needed the UCA and dif drop kit for this 2 inch lift- The guy pretty much dissed everything Ironman except the pro shocks- They offer OME /Slee branded package kits which includes the uca and dif drop, and since The Ironman kit didn’t include them, it showed they don’t have very good product support, it’s all made in China, blah blah. The OME kit doesn’t include them either if you order directly nor does Icon. He kinda deflated me a bit and I’ve worked hard to get this Ironman Pro kit and was super excited to get a good Black Friday deal. Why is there so much discontent about suspension brands? It lists right behind motor oil preferences and tires lol. I figured it was a great compromise for my intended use- I dont need remote reservoirs, but the Pros are a bit larger than the OME.

Any reviews after a year using it?
@Ironman4x4America3 жыл бұрын
Here's a couple: "The improvement to ride quality is huge, both on and off-road. The stock truck was not great. It was oddly stiff and soft at the same time. The steering was vague and it never felt planted at highway speeds. And offroad it was very jarring and needed a ton of time to recover after a rough section. The new setup fixed all those issues. It feels super planted on the highway, it corners on and off-road way better, and the steering is tighter. While it is stiff, it's a good stiff. It's super predictable and rides really well. Sure, you could spend 2x or more on a full Icon or Fox setup with reservoirs, etc, but the reality is we all use these trucks as daily drivers (90%+ on pavement) and need the right balance of on and off-road performance without the need for constant maintenance. This kit nails it. " -GearJunkie
@Ironman4x4America3 жыл бұрын
"Ironman 4×4 makes a complete, solid suspension kit that greatly improves the capabilities and comfort of the 3rd Gen Tacoma at an unbeatable price. On the road, the truck feels completely different. The added stiffness of the ride keeps the body roll to an absolute minimum, making corners effortless. Don’t worry about the stiffness though, as small potholes and bumps in the road are not as jarring as before. The truck is much more fun to drive and much more comfortable in all settings." -Trail Tacoma

@AnhH88 Жыл бұрын
I bought the kit and follow the instructions. The step to remove the uca long bolt is a huge pain. Lots of people suggests just cutting the bolt, buy a new one (it's super long like about a foot). Folks flip the bolt so it's thread from right (bottom) to left (top) instead of left to right. Still very tricky bc you have to push some wires back.
@Ironman4x4America Жыл бұрын
Don't flip the bolt. Toyota has it that way so if the nut comes off the thru bolt stays in place from gravity preventing a really bad day.
@AnhH88 Жыл бұрын
I'll flip it back later. The passenger side is easier to bend. Had to buy the buffers vice clamp.
