Pretty awesome wore me out just watching it. We had a car flip in a gas station the other day I was trying put the fire out while our lieutenant gained entry in a door similar like that.

Prying on the bottom would have probably caused the door to bend in half allowing you to disable the bar from inside by pushing upwards. Also popping the hinges would have been something to try. Nice job regardless, you guys don't mess around "beast mode".

Do you think twisting the padlock with the hook would be easier than cutting it? Not taking away anything from your method used, just thought it would be an option. My department just started using roof hooks and I've been finding more and more uses every day for them

Absolutely, twisting is a good option if you have access. The other way we have had a lot of luck with is just put the forks on the padlock, close the door and let the axe guy drive as hard as he can. We have sheared the bolts holding the padlock hasp on multiple times.

In a scenario where time is crucial, would it make more sense to cut the bolts and use the open doorway?

You guys ever try gapping and forcing above a drop bar (assuming its not too high) and reaching in with the z hook pointing down and “hooking” the drop bar to pull it out of the hangers it rests in? Thanks

If that door served as an emergency exit why was it outfitted with so many robust locking systems?

We actually fabricated the setup on this door. But basically every door in my entire district has stuff like this on it primary exit doors.

The only thing really out of code is the padlock.

How much damage to frame and door?

Has your fire prevention division done anything to mitigate these setups? I could only imagine the devastation that these setups could cause in a commercial setting. Not only are they completely blocking emergency exits they are so fortified an experienced irons team take 4-8 minutes to open the door. That has to be a nightmare in rescue and RIT situations.

Yes, inspections in our city are done fairly regularly, but you are talking about thousands of businesses and most of them could care less about it and re-fortify it right after an inspection. I can tell you that 90% of my still district has a variety of what you see in this video at all times. They could care less about what is legal when many of them are being burglarized at a minimum of multiple times a year. It is very uncommon to only find a panic bar in our neighborhood, I mean very uncommon.
