Really cool. Love how you can make sense of, or should I say, transform all the random stuff that's generated by those books into something quite coherent!

I love to how you start with just a few things and get started playing. I feel like I get myself bogged down in way too much prep work before I play

Too much prep work can be a curse for the soloist... unless you feel that the prep is the play too (which is a position that I think very legit for solo play). But if you are doing prep when you really want to be putting your character into action, then it no longer becomes fun

Just spent a few hours watching all of your Ironsworn content and I have to say I am convinced I need to grab the core book and the Delve expansion physically. I have had the core pdf for a couple years now but until my read-along with your first Ironsworn video today hadn't done a deep dive...kicking myself for not checking it out in-depth back when I got it! Fantastic solo examples and book reviews, really engaging!

Thanks so much! I’m honored you spent so much time with my vids. Personally I find it hard to work with pdf’s tho I know lots of folks use them. Now when I make vids I will use a screen shot from a pdf in ways I hadn’t done with these Ironsworn vids, but for actual play the physical book is essential for me. Glad you enjoyed!

This is really great! :) keep up the Phenomenal work. Will you be doing a video on Cyberpunk 2020?

I hadn't planned on it... but do want to do more vids outside of strict fantasy. Maybe I'll look into that one.

Chortle, hahaha that was THE CHOICE on that roll!! I've liked this play through and the way it has turned out in the end, very pleasant and funny to watch! Also, I have to catch up on your Ironsworn videos since I think that I've only watched the rules overview from a couple of years back and the Delve video, and the game, or at least how it is played, seems lighter than I remembered, and that's great. I was planning on waiting for the Ironsworn: Starforged book to learn the rules, since I prefer scifi, and I got this sense of it being rules heavy, but I might get into it earlier than I expected. And finally, that GM's miscellany book looks more interesting the more you use it, I got the Tome of Adventure Design a while back thanks to your channel, but the GM misc. looks more interesting since you have this small interaction promts. Well, I've written enough already, great video, thanks and cheers!!

Thank you so much for commenting and I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, that was an excellent roll to get for the fellow’s name! And you are right: the GM’s Miscellany is a wonderful resource. You can see me using it even more in the “creating settings” vid that is referenced here.

Aw heck ironsworn really seems to be the best for solo rp's ( I have done a couple of solo rps but they always felt a bit off) Would you be willing to explain the rules of ironsworn? And if they already have can anyone link me to that video? I am reading the ironsworn book myself but there aren't alot of videos (that I could find) explain the rules in a simple video.

The creator Shawn Tomkin and his son have a podcast on Spotify called Ask the Oracle. They do a great job of starting up a small campaign and making the effort to explain the mechanics in real time as they progress through their story. Not a video, but it definitely helped me understand how to apply moves and its pretty enjoyable to listen to.

hello! Please do not forget the legends. My english is not ok for the ears. And thank you very much for the example. I have the game and the cards and the dice, but I find that is to hard for a beginning player to play. may be i´ll try again. Jayme from Portugal. Thank you!

Yes, I think this is not so easy to play. Especially if you are using an English language version. An easier starting point for solo might be scarlet heroes.

Thanks for sharing the story of Chortle. Quite often when I start a solo game, I am just stuck with generic fantasy tropes (good vs evil etc.) without having a good thinking of the tone of the story. And I think that is why some of my game sessions turns out bland and uninteresting as I drift back to my comfort zone of classical epic fantasy theme inspired by lord of the rings / sword and sorcery etc. I think this video really shows the advantage of having an interesting / alternative theme for a solo game session. It seems to work very well in challenging the game master to try new things and go wild with their imagination. Your take on Chortle’s adventure almost makes me feel like watching a Disney movie and that is very refreshing. I will definitely try a lighter / cartoony theme game session sometime.

Thanks for watching and commenting. As I said in the video, I too often fall into the same kind of general “feel.“ That can often lead to the same type of story… And that can lead to things being repetitive and boring. As you could see if you watch this whole video, I did need to remind myself to remain on target for the lighter feel. Small things like that can really help change the narrative.
