Yep. The most egregious example for me was the 80's television show the A-Team with Hannibal firing an M-60 on full auto at a team of bad guys hiding behind cardboard boxes. None of the bad guys are ever hurt or injured and Hannibal never seems to be affected at all by recoil while firing at full auto!!!!!. So ludicrous. My dad and I used to watch that show and every time a scene like that would occur my dad ( a WWII veteran would be rolling on the floor laughing. That is the reason he liked the show...for all of its scenes of unintended humor.

Asked about half moon clips used for a revolver my grandpa has. Clip is not interchangable with magazine no matter how much the guy at Dick's Sporting Goods wanted to argue with my uncle about a clip actually being called a "magazine". So it isn't just Hollywood who has it's know-nothing know-it-alls. Probably asked someone what a clip was once and they said "it's like a magazine" That or D.S.G. has the term clip blacklisted because of the association with gang activity like why a guy at a smoke shop kept repeating that it was a "water pipe" and not a "bong" and that if i called it a "bong" i would have to leave the store. at least with clip and magazine there is a reason to use one or the other. with bong and water pipe, it isn't like calling it a water pipe magically makes it where you can only smoke tobacco with it.

We lived next door to an surgeon growing up...my dad asked him once about the shoulder shot thing in movies - it seems logical, no major organs there. The MD said there are a few worse places to get shot, but that's not a good one...major blood vessels and arteries. He said the best pace in your torso is to either side of your heart a little lower, through a lung. No major vessels and your lung just collapses and is kinda sticky so somewhat self-sealing if the bullet goes through you.

@@donnyschort6150 All armies have people who have committed war crimes, it would be foolish not to think that. As for the legality of using enemy weaponry. I will have to loom that up, as far as i know I am not sure if it is illegal to use an enemy weapon or just not advised. weapons are often booby trapped if left behind. Well, maybe if it was a gas or something, then it would definetly be illegal to use it. Genevia convention and all. Captured enemy combat vehicles have been used in WW2 and pretty sure that didn't end there. They are technically weapons, if there is a weapons system mounted on it.
5 жыл бұрын
@@donnyschort6150 It is NOT illegal to use enemy weapons. It's not a good idea to use an enemy weapon as your primary weapon. Weapons have different sound and flash signatures. In a firefight especially at night when you can't see what or who you're shooting at, soldiers are apt to shoot at the sound and flash of an enemy weapon. That can get your ass toasted in short order. In an emergency if you're out of ammo or your issue weapon has malfunctioned it is NOT illegal to use whatever is at hand including enemy equipment. PS: Here's something most people don't know. It IS illegal to shoot people with a 50 caliber Browning machine gun. The 50 Browning cartridge is classified as an anti material cartridge. You can shoot enemy equipment but NOT personnel. However if you do and someone complains there is an out. The enemies weapon, uniform, helmet, belt buckle, etc. IS enemy equipment. No sarge I didn't shoot him, I shot his buttons on his jacket. It's not my fault he was stupid enough to be hiding behind them. Well OK then.

In the 70s I was shooting in a combat league with a 21 yr old kid who used a Python. He walked out of the back room of his family gun store one day to find someone holding his mother up with a 1911with the hammer down. Two rounds of .357 to the center of mass was all she wrote. There's sometimes advantages to a revolver. And always advantages to knowing what you are doing.

This is why there is a lot of thanks to be had to Chad Stahelski for saving/setting the bar higher for action films with the John Wick series.

It's one of the reasons I love those movies. Realistic handling of firearms and kick ass action scenes.

Let's not forget that Keanu Reeves deserves some credit. Check out him doing three gun

@@johnsouthard541 That's entirely true. The series would not be what it is now without him. He's the thread that pulled it all together.

Spinning the cylinder of a revolver when it is swung out, and hearing clicks as if the advance pawl were still engaged.
@Timothy19875 жыл бұрын
Or when they spin the cylinder when its closed on a da/sa revolver and it spins and clicks like a sa... Like in the Russian roulette scene at the end of the movie 187... Its so annoying

@betatalk357 Slamming the cylinder home always makes me cringe. Could damage a cartridge,but always a very bad habit. Close the cylinder carefully and deliberately.

My biggest issue with gun movies is the good guy is either always some special forces ninja (as if that's the only kind) or has no training whatsoever, but takes out all the bad guys with terrible tactics and expert marksmanship.

Yep. My biggest gripe is wasting ammunition also. About the only time that I do waste ammunition is when it's a new build and I am only testing the function of the firearm.

Oh damn, the out of ammo click is by far my biggest let peeve. Even worse when it's a machine gun and just keeps making the click in automatic mode when they run out.

@MrMJD19784 жыл бұрын
Brian K that skill would take so much practice...I tried with a p30 and a ppq, very similar gunshapes and if i’m shooting alternating triggers i can keep rounds on a watermelon sized target at 12-15 mts 90% of the times. Moving sideways is veeery tough, I cannot hit target more than 20% of the times. In movies is so easy that it gives everybody the idea that pistols are sooo dangerous...bullshit.

When the good guy takes cover behind a door or a car or a body and that cover stops close quarters rifle rounds. When they shoot in confined spaces and proceed to have conversations. When they engage in a firefight and after 100's of rounds being exchanged no one is hit
@nomikes43925 жыл бұрын
Mine is all automatic rounds fired that do not hit anything. It is like they lose the ability to lead a target when they shoot an automatic weapon, especially if the hero is running across an open area

Should check out Tremors. The guns and associated affects are realistic, especially a moment when Burt (the local fun enthusiast) takes a gun back; despite knowing full well its empty, he still opens it to make sure it’s empty.

My list: • Suppressors making a quiet *pew* sound. • Calling a suppressor a “silencer” along with calling a magazine a “Clip.” • Limp-wrist pansies one handing a .44 Magnum. • Everyone missing every close range shot. • Someone doing a shoulder shot with a revolver...not a good idea, that can cause serious injury to someone’s face if it is close to the cylinder when it fires. • Dropping their gun and running when they run out of ammo.
