Great video as always! I really enjoy the commentary videos, even if it's over a time-lapse! And for anyone who may be a beginner, whether you use Maya, 3DS, Blender, etc, all of these techniques are basic and universal. There's pros and cons of each and preferences for different artists, but all of the softwares let you extrude, scale, etc. Some just may have different tools, and some artists may be used to their respective softwares. I just think it's great there's so many choices! I learn a lot from your techniques always even though I use Blender! :D

How do you keep your MalletFast2 brush so smooth? Whenever I use mine to sculpt I always end up getting the square imprint of the alpha and have to spend half my time smoothing it back out!
@3dextrude
@3dextrude 2 жыл бұрын
Are you using a tablet? I just made sure not to apply too much pressure, the angle of your strokes can also make a difference.
@bdcollecter
@bdcollecter 2 жыл бұрын
@@3dextrude Yes, this happens to be both with tablet and mouse, both on different computers and with a fresh install! It's rather annoying tbh! Do you subdivide a lot before you start using this brush? Maybe that is part of my problem as I get a quite high poly count before i even start

Even though you didn't have cavities in the decimated/ retopo model...your bakes were amazing!.. I mostly retopo manually to match the high poly model fully ..still my bakes in look horrible..there are so many artefacts..even after keeping at 4k and anti-aliasing at 4x4...any suggestion anyone??
@3dextrude

Could be an issue with uv's, are you leaving enough space between shells? Could also be an issue with your normals.
@suyogsavle4719
@suyogsavle4719 3 жыл бұрын
@@3dextrude Yeah..that may be one reason...but I found my mistake...I wasn't softening the edges in Maya..now the bakes are better...also I'll increase the space between the shells...Thanks!!

Great video but i'm wondering why did u dynamesh and then decimate for the low poly? Couldn't you just use zremesh (till like 1k poly or how small u want) and project the details? Then u wouldnt have to clean up the low poly mesh.. Or is that a wrong workflow?
@3dextrude
@3dextrude 4 жыл бұрын
It's a perfectly valid way of doing it, I just usually find it hard to get a zremeshed model to adhere to the silhouette correctly even after projecting details; but honestly I haven't tried that workflow enough.
@boekje88
@boekje88 4 жыл бұрын
@@3dextrude Oh ok, lately i'm just not a fan of dynamesh anymore so I just use sculpturs pro and zremesher for everything. So I use the zremeshed high subdivided mesh (details projected from sculpturs pro mesh) for high poly and low subdivisions for low poly, guess its just a different workflow with both having pro's and con's.

Eu sempre fico me perguntando qual a técnica usada para fazer parades realistas, com blocos quebrados e concreto. Minha maior dificuldade é transferir tudo isso para o low poly.

@3dextrude
@3dextrude 4 жыл бұрын
I haven't done much drawing in years, but that is how I got started; traditional drawing and painting. I think it helps a lot because many of the fundamentals translate into 3D. This is why a lot of 3D schools make students take art classes, traditional and digital.

i also liked the commentary on this vid. nicely done! I do have a question too, i see you bended the bricks to make this curved wall on the end presantation, did you do this with the same decimated bricks? did they have enough topology to look ok when bended?
@3dextrude
@3dextrude 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that was done with the same bricks, same topology; used the bend tool in Maya for that.

I have a Problem: I did my blockout in Maya and than import everything in ZBrush for the Details. The Problem is, when i want to import it back i lost my scale of all my objects, how can i fix that or what is the correct workflow?
@3dextrude
@3dextrude 2 ай бұрын
That's odd, scale should stay the same. I would suggest exporting from Zbrush as .fbx file
