In this tutorial I will show you how I textured a stylized stone wall in substance painter

High poly mesh

-Stone Smart material for use inside substance painter

This is exactly the type of video i needed to understand the software. All other tutorials go into specifics way to fast but now I finally understand how to work from nothing to something. Underrated channel

Hey, Nice vid, If you want to keep only one channel on your fill layer, like for example the base color, you can press « alt +click on the channel you want » it will automatically keep the channel you selected and remove the others

Thanks! yes these are both on my list to make, trim sheets and blender sculpting :D I've been getting requests for a video on high to low poly optimization and baking though so I will be working on that first

Thanks! Yep baked to a low poly before texturing, with this model I didn't go super low poly each brick is still an individual cube but with beveled edges.

@@dynastykingthereal baking is when you add details from a high poly to a lower poly version of the mesh to add details through textures maps and optimise polycount

GReat tutorial! It this work with a super low poly model (3 pieces)? You can still do the same texturing process?

Hey Sebastian, yeah for sure, as long as you have good clean bakes this process should work on very low poly models no problem as it mostly relies on curvature and Ambient occlusions masks :)

Hey Brollow, have you checked if the curvature map is plugged in under Texture set settings -> Mesh Maps on the right hand panel. Or if you haven't yet baked a curvature map from a high polygon model?

Hey, Creating a production ready game asset in a free software pipeline is on my list to do! but it may take a while to get round to it, you can check out armour paint or quixel mixer in the meantime which are both free texturing package alternatives to substance painter that look promising

I don't understand why you use fill layer > curvature > levels instead of curvature generator and why you use gradient layer instead of position mask

can someone pls help me, you'd give you MONEY its been a WEEK AND NO PROGRESS i cant see the curvature map on bitmap, and I don't know how to bake in blender, literally about to cry and quit blender forever, pls im so desperate and crying on my keyboard

Hey, If you purchased the asset files from my gumroad the maps should be already baked in the substance file. If you are using your own assets though, make sure you have a high poly sculpt and a low poly optimized mesh, you can then bake your curvature and other necessary maps directly in substance painter, check out the official substance channel on how to do this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/norXeaNqfr2pqa8
