A great tip especially for soft black paints, especially gm black, is the cutting stage will generate a ton of haze no matter what, so a step down stage (polish of choice for finishing on a finishing microfiber pad) before final finishing step is a great way to help get amazing clarity

Tremendous Job Mirandas! If you're new to coatings, don't forget to coat the door jams, painted trunk and hood areas. Also, after 24 hours, I like to apply a topper coat of graphene/ceramic spray to all surfaces.
@MirandaDetailing
@MirandaDetailing 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! So we only coat the door jambs and hood and trunk areas upon request. Always ask the customer if they want extras before you do them or work that into your price. No one has ever requested that though. I find it a waste of product to use it under the hood or trunk. We will however use a ceramic spray sealant on those areas as usual We also topped with C2v3 the next day before the customer picked it up.

Hi Phil, great video and great work. What impressed me most is that you are a real stickler for paint thickness. And you did such a thorough job and checking all over the vehicle and thanks for explaining what your guidelines are for "being very carefu". I believe you guideline is...be very careful when you get under 4 mils. I actually use my meter on microns...not sure why I do that but I do. What a bear of a job. My hat is off to both of you. Did you tell us what the total number of man/woman hours it took? You said 2 days but I'm curious about the total hours. So much to learn from this video. Will watch a few more today. PS I think its so great that you and your wife work together in this business. And that you are a real professional detailer not jsut a "You Tube detailer". A lot of difference between the real work and you tube. Thanks again.

Nice job ‼️ Those thickness reading tools are becoming a real necessary tool as car companies are getting stingy with the clear coats. And if a car or part has been repainted it really is important to know how far you can get. As Clint Eastwood says in Magnum Force, “A man has know his limitations ‼️”. By the way how many times does Jess spray you when washing?🤣 👍✌️☮️

Hi. Good question. Thanks each one could go further and do that. But I’m not one for trying to get 100% anyway. The thick the clear coat the better. All of our customers never expect 100% correction. Also we have found that our shop lights bring out the scratches much more than natural sunlight. 😎👍🏼 I don’t follow the creed of online detailers who go overboard unnecessarily. Hi, thanks. Good questions! So when the paint readings dip below 4 all we will do is our paint enhancement. So a medium foam pad and fine/medium polish. Basically it will look get about 50% of the defects without cutting to deep.

Would you guys consider a one step as a paint enhancement or are they both considered different?
@MirandaDetailing
@MirandaDetailing 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. So I know every detailer has their version of what an enhancement is compared to a one step. But for us our paint enhancement is a more like single stage correction, we just try to achieve 50%+ using one product and pad combo. We sometimes do a one step but those for us are more like All In One service. So we will use an All In One polish and sealant built in. That way it’s quicker.

great job guys ! I m curious , would the customer be able to do a once a year polish on this truck after all the cutting and polishing the truck went through.? when doing a job like this , do you stop thinking the customer may bring the car back for another polish next year or the one after so you need to be able to perform this task again without compromising the clear coat , or is this a one time correction, like you tell the customer we will make it as good as possible but do not try doing another polish on this vechicle again.... This always confuses me on how you approach the customer . We all want the best results but I would think twice about doing a full correction if that meant I couldnt do another one again
@MirandaDetailing
@MirandaDetailing 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thanks! Good question. Once we ceramic coat a vehicle it’s not to be polished again unless it’s going to be re coated for some reason. But when we communicate with customers we let them know that over the next few years it will get slightly swirled just from constant washing. All of our customers understand that and it’s fine with them. Many people get confused when they watch KZbind always showing perfection on paint. That’s only if the customer wants that and is paying for it. But that’s a very small amount of people. All vehicles will get swirled up slightly over time from washing, especially if they are daily drivers. But it’s ok. A few years down the road it can be polished a little to reduce the swirls again without having the cut so deep and compromise the clear coat. 😎👍🏼
@ricardogutierrez722
@ricardogutierrez722 2 жыл бұрын
@@MirandaDetailing This is the reason I stopped going for perfection. I ve been doing a car pro essence with a white pad once a year to bring the shine back , which also removes the light ceramic coating I have on the car . I apply a one year ceramic coating on the car and I cheat by applying a topper every 2 car washes. My car is a 5-10 feet car , looks good from far , maybe even close but once you start shining the light on it , you can see al the imperfections. However , its impossible to keep a swirl free car , specially if its been daily driven, which is why I stopped aiming for a swirl free car
@MirandaDetailing

So it could be either a tri coat clear coat. Which means they tint the clear coat with a color or pearl. Or sometimes it may just be slightly dirty paint. Even after wash, iron decon, clay bar, and everything you do to clean it. Some paint is just dirty in the pores and when using a polish and pad it mechanically cleans it more. We have seen that before also. Don’t be alarmed. But also double check everywhere with lights and make sure it didn’t burn through anywhere. If you have a paint depth gauge, which I highly recommend getting, check and see if there are any thin spots.

How many psi are you using in the IK (roughly) I just got in as it was in sale. Rest of mine are Marolex. I am hoping It works as well. I am very happy with the marolex ones.

We look Uno it up to around 40psi or until the release valve pops

@MirandaDetailing
@MirandaDetailing 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Hard to tell how much clear coat was removed all around the vehicle. On average about a 1/4 to 1/2 of a mil or so.

Phil you can practice some times to do this. ... 3inch trizact discs of 3000grit, on a velcro hand grip, you can easily spot correct some random imperfections , without stressing the surrounding panel or the clear coat. And after this ,the 3000grit marks can be removed with almost every light polish. Maybe 3000 will not remove every deep imperfection but will reduce it easily without stress the clear. Try it....if you like it..great....if you dont...then...we love you even more..hahahah...keep up.great job sir

Hi. Thanks. Yeah we have done that before. But the customer was not expecting perfection so we didn’t need to go that far. We only go as far as needed and expected by the customer. If the readings are 4 and under we will never wetsand, it’s to risky. 😎👍🏼

@@MirandaDetailing yes of course i understand that is why i said only 3000 grit only on spots not on a hole.panel !!! In fact is much more gentle than a orange pad and medium compound for the clear. Either way this beast came out great , was a very good job Phil. Keep up , i like real world jobs like this. Take care have a wonderful week.
