I’m a lefty as well. I’ve only been playing for a few years now. I have several guitars all more expensive “higher quality” than this one. But this is my go to day in day out. It’s comfortable sounds great. You also don’t have to be precious with it because it’s affordable. Love your reviews as a lefty!

I dig it!! As much as I want the Gibson SG Special, something about just having one P90 to extract as many tones as you can is appealing to me! I might jump on this one!! Love the demo Shane! 🎸🎸🎸🎸

That is a good looking guitar. In some of those shots, it looks like there is a sparkle in that finish. I am seriously impressed with Harley Benton, I own three of them now and I'd buy another if the right one came along.

I sadly sold my Jeff Tweedy SG a year ago, one of these would help ease that pain, that blue is sensational. I'm sure new pots and a compensated bridge would take the guitar up to a real player

Great review Shane - I've got the LP junior style HB, same issue with the bridge though and I think Tony over at Addicted To Gear found the same on the HB Special. I've been thinking of looking for alternative bridges without busting the bank. Will be interested to see how you get on with the file. On a general note cheers for the great content on the channel, especially for lefties👍

Another excellent review, Shane! You'd think there would be an aftermarket bridge cover for all the exposed bridges out there for comforts sake. There's a project for the niche market machinists. I can already see an ad for it, with the "Has thi ever happened to you?" And there's a shredder shredding his hand on a bridge, spots of blood...you can guess the rest.

First, I love the color of that guitar!! It isn't the guitar's fault I'm stuck in my ways and just can't find my way to buy a single pickup guitar. It's like everything about guitars...We all like what we like. That's why there's Fender, Gibson, PRS, you get the idea, and Strats, and Teles, and Les Paul's...again...you get the idea!!! Thank you for the great review. I'm gonna go check to see if I can find that color in a guitar that might meet my preferences. (It isn't this guitar's fault I am old and set in my ways. You made it sound great!!)

Shane, I love your production quality! It's fantastic. On the subject of P90's, they are my favorite pickup sound, bar none, even if a little buzzy with heavier gain. But being that I play a variety of genres, I ended up owning and playing all pickup types. Big shout out on the Torpedo Captor. I love mine. Thanks for the video man, awesome job!

Bridge only p90 is a hard one to consider when a p90 in the neck sounds so well rounded… i guess its not trying to be an all rounder so more for the guitarist who wants an attractive lightweight p90 guitar in their arsenal

Phenomenal playing, Shane - and the tones a great as well! I don't mind a single pup Guitar, they can be quite versatile. I've been looking at these for about 4 months, now. I love Pelham blue, the ESP Viper body shape, and P-90's. I have a couple of Harley Bentons ( a TE- 52, and important to this a DC 580) so I'm already sold on this particular variation on cheap chinese guitar. So, you hit on the big stopping point for me- I just can't play the "badass bridge" style. Maybe it says something about my technique, but it's still how I play. So, here's hoping they either do a version of this with the Tune-o-matic & stop bar, or a Mahogany/ Pelham DC 580...

As for the bridge and tone pot, I replaced the bridge with a Musiclily wraparound. A much better bridge with no sharp edges. The tone pot is probably a linear taper pot. Replace it with an audio taper and it should be gtg. Excellent video! Cheers

From Leo: I am ok with one pickup, but prefer it by the neck. All of the vintage archtops, some from the factory and many added later were a single in the neck. Because of hum issues I like to adapt a Filtertron or a PAF in place of the p-90.

Good demo, but Harley Benton is just imitating other brands at insane lower prices. They are bringing anything original or fresh to guitar, just blatant copying. Nothing to see here, if you want a cheap better copy, get an epiphone. Not interested in any HB guitars.
@DMSProduktions3 жыл бұрын

Gibson and Fender copied everybody, too. Especially back in the early days. Being elitist about guitar is silly these days. CNC machines don't know what country they are in.
@Madchris88283 жыл бұрын
Every guitar company pretty much has copied other guitar company. Gibson Fender, (did their own strat) talks about how Gibson used Appleton designs. Epiphones are cheaper Gibsons, Squiers cheaper Fenders. Body designs? Only a certain amount of functional guitar shapes. And most cheaper lines use inferior materials regardless of what brand they are. I don't understand this argument at all.
@hawkcrossfamily3 жыл бұрын
Yes, every guitar company has copied every other. And Gibson did develop the les paul out of Appleton designs, but he did bring those designs to them to build. Gibson made changes and fair or unfair made it popular. I don't think the SG carries the same ambiguity. I am not saying that HB guitars are not good, but I would prefer a guitar company that put more thought into making guitars than just being a cheap alternative. Yes they can copy it, and yes it will play good, it's a old tried and true design. At least try to put a distinct spin on it. They even copied the color. It's not inspiring. I would rather see HB working on developing their own identity. Many other guitar companies copy V's and other guitars but they have their own spin on it. One note, the copies that Gibson and Fender made of each other, well those lines ultimately died out - whether they were good or not. Epiphone's recent revamp was a direct attempt to match the price points with they likes of HB.
@Madchris88283 жыл бұрын
@@hawkcrossfamily that's fair. I do respect companies like BC rich for really breaking the mold of guitar design, so I see your point
