I have the 2015 3.8, and I loved this car from the day I bought it till now. I have been in many cars that were close to the same price I paid or much more expensive. My cousin bought his top trim Impala LTZ 3 weeks before I got my Genesis. I got a great deal as where he paid a couple thousand more than me. The difference of quality from how much more solid my Genesis is, to the driving dynamics, the cabin noise in the Impala to the super quiet cabin of the Genesis. How much more sophisticated the safety features respond. My Lexicon sound system blew away his Bose system, built in sunshade's. Still till this day I laugh every time a impala or more expensive Cadillac drives by me. As they have know clue how bad they got screwed over. Actually love this car so much that I been looking to trade in going on a year now. Just can't find the vehicle that will make me as happy as this one.

Friends of mine were looking into a new car last year so I did a lot of research and found the G80 sport for them. Now owning it a little over a year as of February, they absolute love their car. It is in the Casa Blanka white, but not just any white it is a clean looking white with pearl underneath. I did a dig pull with traction off in sport mode and for a car that weighs 4400 lbs it hauls some serious ass. I got 0 to 60 in 5 seconds flat and that was at 5000 plus feet altitude. Keep in mind fpr anyone thinking of moddind in the future that the turbo 3.3 is the best bet with full torque coming in at 1300 rpm 😲 and companies like LAP3 already making a full piggy back tuner for it making 450 whp and 480 lb feet tq to the wheels. If you are in the market for one don't even think about it, it is seriously a nice car. Super comfy even for older people concerned about stiff seats and the sound system is top notch. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who drives a mkiv Supra turbo. At the very least try to find some used.

@@LS1007 The exterior color of the G80 Sport in the video is called Siberian Ice. I saw that color in person yesterday. It looks better than your standard white IMO. The G80 Sport also comes in Casablanca White if you want a standard white.

I'm an owner of a 2018 G80 Sport. A couple of things to point out: the color on the trim is black copper, to go with the black chrome. The stitching is also copper as the contrast color. Nav screen is 9.2", not 8". I had it on the Dyno and the engine cranks out WAY more than 365hp. Torque was in the 430ft/lbs range.

I have a 2015 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 and love the car. Fell even more in love with the G80 Sport when I test drove a 2018 model. I'm trading in come August and will do a 3 car test drive, 2019 G80 Sport , G70, and Stinger. As much as I love the G70 just don't think I can get into something that small, we'll see.

Got my 2019 polar ice (light blue) g80 sport traded my 2015 genesis 3.8 and the engine is night and day better. The suspension is so much improved . Best luxury sport package for the money hands down.

I’ve had my G80 3.3T AWD for two years. No regrets, only positive experience. The acceleration is smooth, effortless and quiet. Love the sport mode, you really feel the change in ride and gear box. I get to drive in Colorado mountains and plains so I’ve had plenty of opportunities to “push it”. My wife calls this our ‘date car’, I call my fun car. This car is a looker, even had a young man ask me ‘how do I like my Bentley’, told him not a Bentley, it’s a Genesis”. Thanks for this great video review.

Good video, but a couple of points. The color on the stitching, grill and wheels is copper. It’s the genesis signature color. Also, that’s not faux carbon fiber in the interior, it’s the real deal. I have this car and I absolutely love it. Best car I’ve owned and I had a 5.0L Genesis before this.

As a 2019 Genesis G80 Sport (Polar Ice) owner, I would add that he front cubby integrates a wireless phone charger. Btw: one USB outlet is fine up there. I love the V6 twin turbo. Tons of performance. Good descriptive and professional video. Keep up the good work.

Glad you love one of my cars. I currently own a white exterior with the two tone interior G80 Sport. My biggest "zonk" is how cheap the rear view mirror feels and squeaks when adjusting it. The sound system could use a bit more bass, but other than that probably hands down one of the best entry level luxury vehicles on the market.

Go into.the sound system settings and adjust the bass by default it's usually set low but you can adjust it to have more bass trust me do it you'll literally feel the difference lol

The G80 is getting redesigned for 2020 (it was refreshed when they changed the Hyundai Genesis of the same current generation into the G80 that it's called now), not the G90, which has already been face-lifted, refreshed for 2020 which also means that a full redesign is only a year or two away...

Joe, there is only 1 USB in the front console under the retractable door because that area is also a qi wireless charger. Just put any recent generation phone in that space and it'll charge. The retractable door is there to actually hide the phone while driving and reduce distraction.

I leased one of these when it was still called the Hyundai Genesis and I loved everything about it, luxury, solid build quality, responsive, quiet, comfortable AWD at a great price. Only thing about it I can complain about the car is that its a bit hefty at 4500lbs.

Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis are killing it with all of the American manufacturers running away from cars all together I feel like they're putting their own nail in their own coffin. Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis don't seem to care they are spending the money anyway, and developing nice cars that perform well for a reasonable price tag with the best warranty.

Ford ST I agree. I was surprised when I test drove a Hyundai Tucson... then there was a stylish 2017 Night edition. I bought it with no hesitation. The American crossovers didn't compare. I never thought I'd drive a Hyundai. I had my Ford Focus for 10 years and thought I'd get another Ford - but that Tucson was 🔥 for the price. Now I'm thinking a Genesis would be absolutely lovely in the next several years. Love it.

Great review, glad to see other owners commenting below with experiences and corrections on a couple missed points. I own the 2018 version of this exact car and have two comments about the look and the price. 1. This version (Sport) of the G80 is very rare. I'm in a top 20 populated city in the states, have had it for nearly 2 years and have only seen 2(!) in my city. It's a head turner. BMW, Merc, Audi are all over the place and even their owners stop and stare. 🤙 2. I've said this before, every test drive (or comparison review to comp cars) should include a briefcase with $20k on the passenger seat. That's the money you'll save owning the G80 Sport or the money you'd spend buying the competition. Thanks again for walking us through it.

I had the 2019 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T as a rental car while my Veloster Turbo got serviced and I just have to say, the infotainment area on this G80 is very similar if not, inspired from the Sonata in terms of buttons, ac vents and touchscreen locations. Of course being Hyundai vs Genesis, the Sonata looks and feels cheaper in comparison but it’s crazy seeing luxury brand features included on less expensive cars in Hyundai’s line up. To me the Sonata felt like driving a bmw so I can’t imagine how driving this G80 would feel LOL!

Glass half full kinda guy. That's one way to look at it. The other way is that Genesis needs to do something with their infotainment systems in the 70/80 to separate it's look from Hyundai and feel more upscale. The slapped on tablet screen on the G70 being the perfect example as it's identical or near identical to the Stinger and uses their normal GUI so it doesn't feel or look special.

Joe! 4,600lbs... I had to rewind the video because I thought for sure that I heard you wrong. You MUST be using the specs from the V8 Right!!?? What a porker. What did Hyundai do fill up the frame rails with cement? Seriously, that is shockingly heavy. Seems like the car really runs out of breath at the top end. QTR Mile in 13.9. That’s not bad especially for such a “truck” like heavy car but she clearly runs out of steam after being geared for a quick 0-60 run. I’m scared to ask what the gas mileage is. The G70 IMO is the way to go. Smaller and lighter but yet you still get that honker twin turbo six. Comprehensive, fun review as usual. Keep up the great work Mr. Consistency.

I thought the purpose of carbon fiber is weight reduction and added rigidity. Just my opinion but interior carbon fiber does not scream performance. I'm also waiting to see what the 2020 lools like. This may be a great daily driver.

I would go with the Genesis! It is a great looking car, you get the full warranty and many other perks.

Dude I will tell you first hand go with the G80, but the sport model. It is such a nice car plus in sport trim its already optioned with everything so there is no guess work other than figuring if you want all wheel drive or not. Seriously go with the Genesis. My friend bought the 2018 Acura TLX A-Spec I I will tell you it doesn't even compare, it also gets average scores from publications. To me it is lacking in interior and the performance is underwhelming to say the least. It's a glorified Accord with a high sticker price and the transmission button selection mess is just plain out wierd.

360hp? Hmm my 13 genesis sedan makes 330hp n.a v6. Genesis added two turbos and all they could muster up was 30 more hp. Nice ride though my 2013 is white too with tint and black rims and leather seats and it still gets lots of stares, especially with the chrome genesis badges on her.

Color? In general i am enjoying the current trend of off whites and VERY light tints. What’s with the “flip phone” key fob? Looks like you should hold it up to your face and say “beam me up Scotty”. Engine covers, not a fan in general, but glad it is not ugly like some of the other Hyundai/Kia group covers. Why not highlight parts of the engine bay, even on-the/cheap ala’ the BRZ refresh with the red crinkle cost intake manifold? Engine sound, I’m guessing they are piping in noise because of the difference between the tail pipe shot revs and the interior shot “Loud peddle” shot. Seems appropriate to this car.. Oops! Did you just ask about the color? Great job Joe and Tom and lots of love to Lori.

only dislike about this car is when driven at high speeds 60+ the steering wheels starts to shake, same with the g90. They need to make it handle better at high speeds than it’ll really give Acura Infiniti & lexus a better run for the money

R'Shod...To my knowledge, you're the only person ever to say that. The driving dynamics of Genesis are already far superior to Acura or Infinity. Probably better than Lexus as well, though at least Lexus uses nice RWD dynamics too.
