It's because the 300 tries to pretend like something that it isn't. A bently. So they recognize it's not a normal brand car. So they assume it's trying to impersonating something

Some people have complained about the Genesis depreciation rate. Personally I find that to be one of the best things about it. For a very good price you can buy a very nice, gently used three year-old Genesis that is good looking, has more than adequate acceleration, handling, and braking, is very reliable and very safe, is loaded with well-executed features, and still has some warranty left on it. This car (I recently bought a 2015 model) is a joy to drive. I find myself thinking up errands to run just so I can spend more time in it. I do wish it got a little better gas mileage and there are a couple of things I wish they would do differently (like having fold-down rear seats and a better cargo net setup in the trunk), but, while no car is perfect, for the money I paid, the Genesis is pretty darn close.

No more than Mercedes or BMW I bought a 2011 MB CL 550 on 2016. The car retailed for 115k plus 4k for the premium package, plus tax, thats 126k when new. Bought mine with 45k miles for 36k Now, that's what I call depreciation!!

How has the car fared over the years? Am planning to get one for myself
@ericynot
@ericynot 2 жыл бұрын
@@ThePrk007 I still like it a lot. Everyone who's borrowed and driven it has spoken glowingly of it (including my Prius-driving sister who never seems to like much of anything :) Maintenance has been a non-issue. The only glitch I've experienced is that the system that warns you when you're too close to another object occasionally sounds randomly when I'm stopped at a light behind another car, but that's so trivial I haven't even considered having anyone look at the problem. Of course it could fall apart tomorrow, but I see no signs of that happening. It remains one of the most satisfying purchase I've made in my life. One recommendation: if you live in a place that gets much winter weather, find a four-wheel drive version. I live in Texas where there's not much winter precip, but my two-wheel drive Genesis does have a hard time getting going if you're driving on snowy/icy roads.
@ThePrk007

@@ericynot I'm your northern neighbor (Toronto), so yes a 4WD is a must. Winter this year has been brutal and the messy snowfall ugh... I'll probably get the new GV 70. Have owned Hyundai for years and love the fact that they give you best features at considerably lesser price than competition. Thanks for your reply. Cheers mate!
@ericynot
@ericynot 2 жыл бұрын
@@ThePrk007 There's one other thing I seldom pay attention to, but that's the safety factor. As we know, Genesis excels at that. It's been about a year since Tiger Woods' GV80 saved his life and his leg in his LA crash, and I noticed this morning he may play in this years Masters Tournament. Can't beat that for a testimonial! Best wishes. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine.

Watching savagegeese videos from '16-'17 and comparing the cinematography to '19-'20 astonishes me. I would still watch your videos even if nothing had changed. But all the minor details from filming locations, camera car cinematography, drone footage, overall b-roll, ability to articulate the fine points of the car, etc. Makes me come back and look forward to the next video even more. Whether it's a C8 Corvette or a Mitsubishi Mirage, I'm always clicking your videos as soon as I see them uploaded.

People thought it was a 300?! Screw what they think, they're obviously ignorant. What matters is what you, the owner think. If you love your car, you don't care how other people see your car. You buy a car for yourself, not for others.

EVERYBODY knows that people want OTHERS to see how cool they look in their cars so your statement is bull unless your 70 plus in age and you know it. With that being said it ONLY matters what the car owner thinks but again we do like the attention and admiration we get from others with how sweet our cars look ..come on lets be real...ijs

Afternoon Goose, I did have a Genesis,naturally aspirated awd, awsome car, killer audio, comfortable way beyond belief. Could drive from Columbus, Ohio to Charleston, SC like 7 hours got out and could actually walk.Yes quiet they are, have you noticed that when you close the power windows that they actually slow down for the final last 1/2 inch of travel, they don't slam shut. I'll never be able to buy a 5 series BMW, and don't really know why one would, last time I looked there are no autobahns here, if you're cruising the interstates then perhaps you'll blend with the traffic at 75 or 80, it isn't a 1/4 mile car, or a canyon carver. As for a number of whoever you asked a Chrysler 300?, alot of cars have adpoted that styling ie Audi, Mercedes, Lexus, etc....Yeah like when way back as I purchased a Ford Thunderbird S/C, you're dealing with asshole salesmen who have absolutely no idea of what they're selling, same with Hyundai. As far as the nanny accessories, screw the adaptive cruise, yes you can switch to normal mode but should be able to set that as a default, as far as the autonomous braking once the front gets covered with either slush or salt spray the dash will light up like an F-18 with multiple inbound bogies! Anyway thats my opinion, Great site always look forward to what ever your testing, Nice geese hat...

He's definitely right about the hard armrest though. I have to bring a pillow when doing a 5 hr drive. I actually like the cruise control and lane keep. They work well and react quickly. The steering wheel detection is a bit off, beeping when the roads are really straight and I'm not moving the wheel. Auto-hold is handy during long red lights too. Also you can control the AC in the back, at least in my model. It's one big zone in the back; the red/blue dial is for temp. And the dealers suck. It's something they're improving by buying out dealer space and making Genesis separate.

I'm a month into ownership on this exact vehicle and I'm really enjoying it so far. I didn't watch the original G80 video so I assume it's probably covered, but for what it is as like a three or four-year-old car, it's amazing. It does everything I need it to do and then some. I know it's a full-size sedan, I know it weighs 2 and 1/2 tons I'm not going to be throwing it through corners often but when I want to go, it will go and not make a fuss about it. Admittedly I was not looking towards the Germans in my choices, just because the stigma with repair costs and everything else, not that I figure this one will be much cheaper but still. But I was looking at a 2017+ Lincoln MKZ with a 3.0 EcoBoost, but we could not find one that wasn't a day trip to go check out. This G80 popped up at a dealership my friend works at, and I got to take it on an extended test drive, and I really liked it. I'm also a bigger guy, the bolstering is not obnoxious and fits me nicely, they have padding on the door and the center console where my legs rest, and it has ventilated seats, and an adjustable leg bolster. I couldn't ask for anything more in a car seat.

One of the reasons it's so quiet inside is because of the tires, which as you pointed out are limiting this car's ability to stick to the road. Put some decent summer tires on, like many of us would do, and then the ride isn't so hushed any more. Excellent review, thank you! My current '15 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 AWD Sedan is a very nice car, but I would not describe it as "fun." When I test drove a G80 Sport a few weeks back I walked away feeling as if Genesis hadn't put enough "sport" in the G80 Sport to financially justify swapping my Hyundai for. Yes the 3.3L TT engine was pretty amazing, but I just heard today that Kia is hinting that they're putting a V8 into the 2018 Stinger. That got my attention. BTW, the G80 Sport in White or Polar Ice is simply stunning in person!

This. Polar Ice is an amazing color on this car. Also, if they called this the G80 Touring instead of Sport, I don't think reviewers would have been as critical of it having a softer edge than expected.

Get off the Chrysler 300 schtick. I've driven the Genesis for two years, and NOBODY thinks it looks like a 300C. The body styling takes some cues from Infiniti, and the badge looks far more like an Aston Martin badge than a Chrysler badge. If your friends think it looks like a Chrysler, spend less time in the bar

Because the continental tires that come standard on this car has a problem with weak sidewalls, they blow out on pot holes. go to tire rack.om and read reviews for this tire. I own this car and the back tires are down to 7/32s from 10/32s depth at 2,800 miles.I do not think they will make it to 10,000

cars like this make me wonder so much how a fairly new automaker from Korea can produce cars that pair up with Lexus/Infiniti/acura, and you could even argue BMW and Mercedes but yet companies like Cadillac/Lincoln, and Chrysler are barely starting to produce quality luxury cars

Thanks for the objective review on this relatively new competitor in the luxury sedan lineup. I find a lot of good things here to warrant heavily considering this vehicle over its German and Japanese competitors. I have had an overall different experience in regards to transmission response (more instant than not), which is echoed by other car reviewers with this particular model. It's unfortunate in your time with the vehicle it was giving you delayed responsiveness. Perhaps it may have been just that particular vehicle. Nevertheless, I found the explanation you gave regarding the overall value vs badge branding to be an important and excellent point for the average consumer. I strongly disagree with the Chrysler 300 comparison in regards to their aesthetics. I have not seen much (if any) reciprocation from others who have reviewed the vehicle, with sharing similarities in badge (or otherwise), but to each their own of course. This was without a doubt a refreshing take on the vehicle to watch. I like how you seperate yourself from other reviewers with putting the vehicle on the lift and going over the under carriage. Really cool and well done! Thanks again for a great review!

Back in 1990, my wife and I were looking for a used car. We drove a used Hyundai 4 door. I remember at the time some Basketball player was pushing this car in commercials. I drove it off the lot and stopped a light. When I took off I had the throttle to the floor and the car was barely moving. My wife said punch it, and I told her I already had my foot to the floor. My wife said, take it back!. What a piece of junk. Now I have a 2013 2.0T. They sure have come a long way.

Maybe he's talking about the Coupe. I think that you can get base model 2015 Genesis's in the 20's, but I bought my 2015 5.0 Ultimate in March 17 for about $35K which was about NADA value at the time. I seriously doubt they've depreciated that much by now.
