Is a £2.60 Wilko inkjet refill kit any good? Refilling a Canon CL-541 inkjet cartridge - tutorial

Thank you for the video I usually use insulin syringe to inject ink through the tiny venting hole to avoid drilling. Each syringe takes 1ml of ink and I keep single syringe for each colour.

Video quality was great, and at the end it looked like a PileOfStuff video with a pint of stout in the end shot. Problem is how the printer responds to the fact that the ink should be out, Epson once would not let you use 3rd party cartridges, but now you have to just click on a continue button. will be interesting to see what happens as you use it more.

I put the supplied drill bit into the gas ring to get it hot then melt the hole out... It's far quicker & there's no fragments of plastic to enter the hole & potentially plock the cartridge head up 👍

Good quality video (and i was watching it using remote desktop over the network where quality is lost)! Incidentally i tried the same kit from ASDA (same drill bit too). My cartridge leaked like a bucket full of holes. I was mega disappointed. Just bought Tesco remanufactured ones, the Magenta doesn't work... Think i'm gonna stick to canon cartridges but thanks for the video anyway. Oh one other thing.. the ASDA kit said to inject the ink directly into the foam at the bottom of the cartridge. Is that what you did or just inject through the hole? Cheers

No longer available but you can get refill kits on ebay with 60ml of the four inks plus syringes etc from £16, just bought one! Check out other videos to see how to 'initialise' the cartridge after filling!

Nice demo but I have issues with it. Proper kits have a cradle to place the filled cartridge in after the three colours are injected and a needle-less syringe is used to suck out about 2 or 3 mil from the output which the cradle aligns over the exit suction hole and then you test the outlet on a piece of paper to make sure you see all 3 colours in a stripe when you dab it on paper. Also good kits have 3 or 4 empty syringes and a separate needle for each so you don't have to clean a syringe and put a different colour in it. One syringe for each of the 3 colours then wash them all in the sink at the end. Residue water and dilution is what caused the stripey output you showed. Also you didn't point out that the needle mustn't be inserted more than half way into the sponge inside as this can cause problems. Otherwise it's a very good reassuring video and I like it.
