Depends on your bodyweight, a 550 squat at 200lbs bodyweight is very tough for natural lifter who is running also. It would be an elite athletic achievement.

Especially considering Pete isn't a short guy. So those 200 isn't a lot for his frame.

We're lucky that he's an elite powerlifter. With his background and experience I believe it's doable for him. On the other hand people like me and other casuals should be born an 👽 to even come close to such numbers lol

I know people have done the 500lb and 5:00 mile. I’m sure someone has done 550lb. Now a 700lb deadlift and sub 1:40 HM sounds more rare to me. Imo.

I think it’s cool that you are continuing to evolve in your personal fitness goals as am I. I have been challenging myself with ultra strict hypertrophy training and HIIT cardio with battle ropes and kettle bells and feel great. Now am I as strong as I was fifteen or even ten years ago ? No, well maybe but I don’t ego lift anymore so who knows. But I function and actually feel better than I did at that larger stronger weight years ago

Should be 550 squat and 5:30 mile imo. Or 600/6 min mile. Theres a handful of guys who have done 500 and 5:00 minute mile, so 550/5:30 seems to be the next logical step rather than 5:50.

You're using that mic wrong lad. The mic capsule is on the face, the pickup pattern is on the front where the volume meter is. Some mics are end address, where you talk into the tip of the mic, the blue yeti x isn't that kind of mic. You're supposed to talk into the front of that thing, not the top.

Possible, but hard. The squat is the easiest part. Mile will take some grinding to achieve that time.
@patmanrick

As someone who has squatted 550 (not in comp, but below parallel, no belt or wraps) and run a 20 minute 5km around the same time (I had previously run a 5 minute mile, but that was years before the 550 squat), I'll say this is definitely possible. Bodyweight was around 95kg lifetime natural. But I didn't do both things on the same day obviously - was just in shape to do both feats around the same time, which is a bit different.

There should be a competition so formulated, that it would have aerobic and power elements (calisthenics and/or weights). The goal of this competition would be to try to minimize the benefits PED's would give. Let's put it this way, if you do tren, U sure as hell ain't going to run much...
@PeteRubish
@PeteRubish Жыл бұрын
I think that's what makes the challenge so difficult. You essentially can't be on gear and run a super fast mile because the steroids would put on too much excess bodyfat and your cardio/health would be affected by most everything. So having both the strength and the speed is a very difficult combo.

Is it possible? Absolutely. In 2010-2014, I was back squatting 500+ to full depth while also easily crushing 15 minute 5k runs.. Right around 198 lbs. I was also still squatting close to 500 (4 regular plates plus a quarter each side on a Texas squat bar) while running 4 minute miles at 180lbs BW. It’s beyond possible… What was the name of that Ultra runner who was squatting 700+ while still able to do 50+ mile races?? He wasn’t super popular and it was before the influencers came around but it was during your heyday, back when Eric and Ernie Jr, You, George Leeman, Dan Green, etc, were all the talk of the town as far as KZbin powerlifters. I can’t remember the guys name (the crazy ultra runner dude) but there’s definitely videos of him on youtube
