Agreed. The enjoyment, the feel, and the experience are priceless.

My thoughts exactly!

I would say they're over-priced, but then again so is everything else. On the other hand, you do end up with a better bike that you can keep and pass down to someone else. Being that the aftermarket is through the roof for these bikes that you can keep a knuckle, pan, shovel, evo, ironhead, twincam, etc going; and you can still find oem parts for them here and there; To me that makes them above all the rest.

The only time parts dry up is when their bean counters lose interest, see the V-Rod or Street series. Parts are rare as hens teeth.

I completely agree with you on your definition of value brother. There's a huge difference between "price" and "value". I get so much more value out of my H-D than what I've paid into it 😎👍

And yet so many fail to see that….too bad for them I guess!

back in 2010 i used to think H-D was too expensive and not worth the money but i think the biggest reason was i didnt own one, then I found a 2009 Rocker C and was a beautiful bike and i still own it, i take pride in my motorcycles and take pride in adding Harley parts and lot loading it up with Amazon crap, over the years i have added to my stable, in 2014 i picked up a 2014 Dyna Wide Glide and last year i picked up a 2021 Street Glide.I have all 3 Harley's today. sure over the years i ventured out to Indian and Victory, but i never sold any of my Harleys and still have them all today, but the Victory's & Indian's have come and gone. I used to think people were crazy or full of crap when they talked about feeling something special when riding a Harley, but i know that feeling and its true. I love upgrading the Harley's with Harley upgrades or aftermarket performance parts but you will never find E-bay or Amazon garbage on and off my 3 Harley's

I’m finding more and more that value is completely subjective and we all value things differently. Sounds like you’ve really found a place in motorcycles that you love…good on you bro…👊🏼

For me it has brought me adventures, new friends and acquaintances. Those things may have happened on another motorcycle. I didn’t want another motorcycle. I wanted a Harley Davidson Fat Boy and got one. The best thing I ever done for myself. More enjoyment than I even expected to have. I do think some of the bikes are highly priced. Also I know I’m not interested in those motorcycles. Not because of price. Because they don’t fit the type of riding I want to do and experience at the moment. I will end with this. I’d rather have a Harley payment for something that brings myself genuine joy. Than a car/truck payment that doesn’t put a smile on my face every time I start it

Great attitude…. Resentment for what you pay is never a good way to start. That said an HD will hold its value better than any vehicle out there except maybe the super expensive luxury cars. All others loose a ton of money. Most HD bikes you can ride for 12-18 months and get back nearly all your values…almost unheard of in the vehicle market. Then there’s the countless adventures!!!!!

If its what you love then hell no, I have a buddy thats into photography and just dropped 13k for a lens is that to much. I think not for him because its what he loves. I think its all on what someone loves and what they get out of it. Any bike can be too expensive but for me I love riding my bike and the community that goes with it.

For what I paid for my Harley, I don't really think they are that overpriced. Yes you spend a little more, but as you stated it's more value than price. I do think the Harley Davidson charges a criminal amount for their aftermarket accessories, but sadly, I buy them anyway. As to those who badmouth the Harley, the antiquated examples they give (over weight, oil leaks, etc.) are from the AMF days and therefore ancient history. Get over it! Harley Davidson is and always will be a true American icon, no matter the cost.

I can’t disagree with that statement one bit!

It reminds me of being a teenager in the 80s. I played guitar (still do) and the thing back then was, the old fender Stratocaster and Gibson Les Paul that everyone grew up lusting after had become “old school” and outdated. The new thing was the Washburn, the Kramer, the super strat guitar with modern parts and modern playability. Locking tremolos and nuts, faster, slimmer neck profiles and on and on, but some of us still wanted a fender Strat, or a real Les Paul regardless of what was modern or popular. Now years and years later, the fender Stratocaster and the Gibson Les Paul are still around and as popular as ever and cost far and away more money than they are actually worth!! But that’s what they cost and if you want one…..well, you know. Are there better motorcycles out there? Sure. In certain ways. Is a new Harley (or even a used one at this point) actually worth the price? Probably not, but do you want it? If so then it’s worth it to you. I just traded in my iron 883 for the last ‘21 LRS on the lot and got a great deal (for a new Harley) and I was darn glad to do it. Why? Because it’s a classic, Harley Davidson that I can keep the rest of my life or whatever? And if I do sell it 10 yrs from now it will probably be worth more then than what I paid for it? It’s not just a bike. It’s an investment. Or it can be. And for some people, nothing else will do, it has to be a Harley Davidson!

It is absolutely worth the money. If you even just look at the resale value it is worth it.
