So it is. I also play a SX precision bass, upgraded with Seymour Duncan PUs. Really better than my original fender precision bass I played in the 80ies. And a SX Sting Ray Copy. The full, fat, hot sound. A Vester Jazz Bass copy with custom shop PUs and a Badass Bridge. What more can you ever wish for little money.

When the classic vibe series first came out, the salesman at my local guitar shop kept trying to get me to play one. I said absolutely not!! I don’t do Squires! For a couple of months he gently persisted. Finally to make a point, I tried one. In the end, I bought three!!! 50’s Strat, 50’s Tele, and a Tele Custom. Incredible guitars!

I never got into telecasters but my son's buddy wanted to start playing one so I built a cheap kit for him. A year later he walks into the house with a fender player series tele. He sits down and starts playing like he has been playing for years. Amy guitar can keep a kid out of a lot of trouble and get them going. These are light years ahead of what I started with.

If there's one thing I've learned as someone who owns a '99 Squier Affinity Strat for several months now, Indonesian-made, and kinda looks like Eric Clapton's Blackie... ...It is worth it. Especially since this does fulfill Leo Fender's design philosophy of making guitars more affordable, and as a bonus you can mod any Squier products with better pickups and hardware if you should choose!

A few months ago right as this Covid thing was starting I found a great deal on Facebook for an Ibanez SR300 Bass. When I went to pick it up it turned out that the guy ran a guitar repair shop out of his house. He had a Squire Telecaster that was Gun Metal grey with a black pick guard. My son who already had a older Squire Strat had been talking about wanting a Telecaster. I started talking to the guy and he said he was considering keeping it because of how good it sounded. When I said my 14 year old son might like it he said if my son wanted it he would sell it to him instead of keeping. I went home got my son, and took him to see it. My son had sat and played “Paint it Black”, and loved it. I had to do a double take it sounded so good.

I've had several squires, mostly from pawnshops and what I have found is it's just the luck of the draw . I ran across a tobacco squire bullit that I was really impressed with for $120 but I had just bought 2 other guitars and was at my monthly (limit lol) . I kept thinking about that guitar and how much I liked the neck on it. The next day I watched an interview with Ron Thorn and he was saying he had about 46 guitars and his favorite is an '85 squire strat ! I couldn't wait to get off work , I was sure it would be gone but I got it and if I would have found this squire bullit before I found my American standard strat , I would not have bought it. Don't get me wrong my American standard is my pride and joy but the dropoff of this particular bullit was not huge , I have affinities that don't come close to this bullit....that's my story and I'm sticking to it !

Dude I got a Gibson melody maker explorer for my daughter which just has a bridge pup and a volume knob. She decided she really didn’t want to play, and I’ve been using it for the past 5 years or so. Granted, it’s a 7/8 scale guitar, but it still screams. It does have some BS Duncan designed pup in the bridge which sounds pretty good, but swapping it out would be incredible. I got it for about $400. Joan Jett used to play a melody maker les Paul Jr back in the day, but with a p-90 in the bridge. This one has a Flying V head stock, so it looks really edgy, different, and cool. I’d recommend trying one out if you’re just looking for a single pup guitars to mod.

Electronics were crap but it has been my baby ever since. She has gone thru a lot of changes through the years and all that’s original is the wood and she’s been asking for a new set of pickups lately. She wants the ej’s, I tried to talk her into the Tex-mex cos I’m cheap but she won’t have it. Gotta keep the girl happy..

I think the best Squiers ever were the Pro Tone models from the late 90s and the E-serial MIJ Strats from 84-87... the "JV" guitars. Of the more modern stuff, I agree the Classic Vibe production guitars are the best. The Vintage Modified are good, but I prefer the CV to the VM. My CV Thinline Mahogany Tele is incredible and just over 5 lbs. The Deluxe Stratocaster is also a gem.

I have to weigh in here. I bought one of these used last week. Previous owner had brass compensated saddles and a Seymour Duncan quarter pounder pick up installed. The guitar was professionally set up at the same. I absolutely love this guitar! Side note, if you pull the pick guard these aren’t routed for a neck pick up. They are true to the original design. I can’t speak for them being stock, but you are correct in saying the Classic Vibe lines are the best Squier has to offer! I bought this guitar bc I have a 60 CV Tele that is my go to guitar for everything ie recording, live shows, church etc. I bought it used, put locking tuners, new nut, and brass compensated saddles on it. This week I swapped the pick ups and found out it already had fender custom shop pick ups. I felt like the bridge was a little hot so I went a set of custom Tele pick ups from a local company that builds them. It sounds more like a Tele now and I love it just as much. Sorry had to share!

At the ripe old age of 69 and having played guitar since I was 14, I have gone through the stages of more gear is good. Now, however, I feel that less is more. A single pickup guitar like the Esquire is all one needs, in my opinion. Besides, if one wants tonal effects one can use pedals and amp controls. I’m more interested in clean sound like that of my current guitar hero. Kirk Fletcher. Play well and you don’t need lots of effects.

"I think squier classic vibe is the best line squier has ever offered". Play a Jv or E series made in japan. My 84 sounds better than most modern fenders. Maybe the cv series is the best modern line they make.

I'll never turn down a free guitar. I love Telecasters. The nice thing about squires is that they make great mod projects. I had a crappy 90's squire strat, and I modded the crap out of it over the years. 21 years, and MANY guitars later, and it's still one of favorites. It plays great, sounds great, has a trick up its sleeve, and modding it made it personal. It feels like it's strictly mine. A guitar that grew with me, and I'm still not done with it yet. Close, but not quite.

I bought a 50's re-issue Squier Tele to make into a B-bender. I wasn't about to plunge a router into my American pro. I was happily surprised at the quality of the Squier. The fret work isn't as nice as the pro, but at less than a third of the cost I'll accept that.

My first guitar was a Squier Stratocaster! Had that guitar for almost 8 years until I sold it I think a year or 2 ago. For years, me and my band perform at famous venues such as the Whiskey A Go Go, Sagebrush Cantina, House of Blues on Sunset Blvd., El Cid, The Joint, The Rack, and many more. Their were songs that I had to play with a strat and I only had my Squier Strat and it sounded amazing and it was my go-to for years. This Esquier that you have Robert looks amazing, sounds rockin, and keep on rockin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have 2 of the Squire CV Teles from 2018. Made in China. I put Falin blues specials and a new harness in one and a Lollar mini humbucker in the neck of one and a Lollar J Street in the bridge with a new harness. Both great guitars and I'm not afraid to take them out of the house. May have to check into one of those Esquires.

I have a 2000 American Standard Strat and a 2018 60’s Classic Vibe Strat and I have to say that in spite of the inferior components and build quality, after some set up TLC the Squier plays and stays in tune as well as the Fender. The one thing the Squier desperately needs is the fret ends dressed but that’s really about it.

I had an Ibanez SA series, an Epiphone SG, and a Squier bullet. Sold both the Ibanez and the SG, put an GM 84' bridge pickup and a graph-tech nut in the bullet and I will never sell that thing ever, best guitar for the price (I got it new for $149) great for modding which I probably spent $30 to mod

So, I ended up buying a classic vibe recently because of this video. I couldn’t find an esquire, so I converted it. Luckily had everything I needed, other than the wiring harness. Was able to pick one up on reverb, and put a fender 1964 custom pickup in the bridge. I am loving this guitar! Thanks for the video Robert!

I play a Squier CV Tele since years. One of the best instruments I have. Once it fell from the wall. I picked it up, had to tune one (1) string. No harm at all. I`ve changes both PUs, a Seymour Duncan at the neck and a Fender Yosemite at the bridge. No comes the CV Esquire. First I didn`t like it. Especially the "dark" position. Who ever can use this dark sound... until I drove it with a lot of gain. BOOOOOOM. This way the blues licks let the walls tremble. Nevertheless I replaced the PU with a Fender Special 72 PU. Double BOOOOOOOOM. Wow! Catch one as long, as they`re avaliable.

I paid $350 for a B-stock 50's CV Tele and honestly I don't notice a huge difference between it and my uncle's $1500 MIA Fender Tele. The only big thing is the weight, the CV is quite a bit heavier with the pine body (which is apparently 50's-accurate), but for someone who really likes Les Pauls that's hardly a big issue to me. If the weight isn't an issue for you then you're getting a hell of a lot of guitar for not a lot of money. And the CV line is made to American Fender specs, so if you ever wanted to do a hardware upgrade you could use actual Fender parts. My only mark against it is I think the neck pickup is pretty weedy out of the box, but A, pickups aren't hard to change, and B, the bridge pickup is *really* hot for a single coil so IMO that more than makes up for it.

The Squier necks are excellent! I have a Squier 51 that I got for $99. and replaced the pickups on, and my guitar repairman said in that shape it played as well and sounded as good as good as a $600-800 guitar. I also have a Washburn Strat knockoff that I put a Squier Bullet Strat neck ($50 on Ebay!) and pickups from a music store junk drawer on (another $60), that sounds as good as a $500 Strat!

squire is totally worth it! i’ve said that multiple times on here. there are bad things about them but they are super affordable. i wouldn’t use it on stage but for jamming around the house they are great guitars. now sometimes you have to have them set up but alot of times they come set up pretty decent already. if you’re a kid starting out playing squire is absolutely a great guitar to get.
