I've had my Banshee 200 for a few years now and love it. Yes it has a low roofline but this helps in bad weather and is more stealthy being lower down. I have just bought a Banshee 300 for use as a two person tent and yes it is bigger and slightly higher, but not massively. Don't buy as a family camp tent, it's a backpackers tent and is made for shelter and sleeping whilst on a hike. I would trust this tent in all weathers and for a sub £150 tent. It can compete against tents 5x the price. Highly recommended as a wildcamping tent.

Still got my banshee 300 Andy from when i was working away from home. I quickly got fed up with hotel costs and confinement so decide to car camp whilst away… My banshee was/is a fantastic tent especially for the money. TBH at 6’2” i was near the limit, but it worked with me camping in it every week/4 nights a week for about six months… so it gets a thumbs up from me. One thing i did add was a tarp over the top and entrance to create a space to sit and cook in good weather. When the weather wasn’t great i hunkered down in the tent and cooked in the vestibule with the door slightly open to vent… A fantastic all round tent ! Cheers bud 👍Mark

Thanks for the vid. Great review. Complete newbie to wild camping (experience with scouts & TA) Have been studying tent reviews. Cloud peak close, but decided on banshee 300 over 200 for extra head room for not much weight. Also love the 2 doors and tension band. In my youth I had a vango hurricane. Also available is a gear storage add-on, maybe add to side without porch, or even add-ons either side for massive amount of space

Ive had an older model of one of these since 2012 and its still waterproof and completely perfect condition despite using it loads. As you say its very low and cramped with two people but i wouldn't have been able to afford anything more expensive at age 20. Someone else mentioned the low height improving stealth and wind resistance and its so true, its a great wild camping tent, it just disappears into the background. Need to get something lighter and with more space now though, im fed up of it being too small.

I bought the 200 about 18 months ago. My only issue with it was the length. Im only 5`9 but with an air mattress my head and feet were brushing the inner due to the angle of the ends. Its as if there needs to be a couple more inner to outer connection toggles at the head end to take the inner off your face or make the tent 200mm longer. I modded it a bit by tying a 6mm elastic cord to the peg loop and inner at the head end. Its made a small difference and its tollerable now. Dont get me wrong. Its a good little tent and I use it a lot. After first pitch you can leave fly attached.. a bonus for UK weather and its easily pitched in under 10 minutes. The extra length would make it a great tent though. And The bright green that mine came in is a bit grim. Prefer the fly to be a darker green or sand coloured for more stealthy camping. They say there is no "perfect" tent but for me.. it comes close. If only the colour and length..... Canna have it all I suppose.

Really nice review, mate! Vango would do themselves a huge disservice if they discontinued this model. It seems like the backbone of the wild camping budget community! Thinking about getting one myself, would be perfect for hiking the Scandinavian trails with the shape, size and weatherproofness. @@fiskmasadventures its not about flat ground - that wasn't a problem. What was a problem, the ground being rock covered with a thin layer of soil. You just can't put a peg in. I bought my Vango in 2015. Very good value for money. I had to choose then between the Banshee 200 and the Zenith 200 and went eventually for the Zenith. Why? The build quality is the same and I love the fact both tents having side doors on each side. Ideal when the wind direction changes. The Zenith has (in my opinion) an advantage for longer people. I'm 1.90 m and when I'm lying in the Zenith and rise up, my head will be at the position were the tent has its maximum height, in the middle. With the Banshee my head hits the inner tent. The Zenith has small poles at the front and rear, which lift up the ends and gives you more room at your head and feet. Overall the angle of the Zenith is not as steep compared to the Banshee

Hi, interesting video about the Banshee. I looked at one a few years ago and decided I wanted Scafell 200 instead. Simply because of the interior allowing me all the room I wanted along with the Vango reputation for build quality. Have you taken a Scafell 200 out into the field? If so, I would love your take on it Call it luck, but mine has only ever experienced a slight shower. One man tents always seemed too 'close' for me and that is why I would always err on the 2 man size.

I owe it to Vango to give the Banshee a go, I know the product will out perform the price point! Just cracked a beer and I’m pitching her up in the garden (never to old) I’ll say this from my Vango experience, don’t let the price put you off! Even Hilleberg are considered heavy sometimes, quality always comes at a cost. One day me n my motorbike mates were in Wales and boy did a storm blow in, all their tents flooded out and I just poked my head out at 3am and watched them run around like chickens. Sadly 3 people near by died in that storm, she was kicking off! My Vango took it all! For that reason I’m investing again, despite having funds for a Hilly. See how she roles up top when I peak next.

how would you rate Helm compact next to this tent?
@BackpackingUK2 жыл бұрын
I prefer the Helm much more but that’s because I prefer free-standing tents and more head room. The Banshee would be better in poor conditions though.

Yes I have a Vango Banshee 200 and they're the boss. Got mine for £66 years ago. Scottish engineering.

One massive problem with this (and other) Vango tents - not FREE STANDING. They all require pegs to stretch them. This may be a massive issue sometimes, speaking prom a personal experience. If you are pitching on a hard grouns (rock or stones) or a very soft ground, pegs won't go in or won't stay in. Best tent (IMHO) absolutely has to be free standing. Otherwise, Vango makes brilliant tents (heavy but will last forever).

I’m a huge freestanding tent fan, to me they’re the best!

Extremely thorough video. As stated, the banshee 200 is legendary, However, if you're looking for a 200, you really need to be mindful of your height. 225cm is around 7 foot 4. So you'd be forgiven in thinking that if you're 6 foot 2, for example. That you'd have plenty of room length wise. This is absolutely false. Due to how aggressive the inner walls slant. At 6 foot 2 your forhead and nose will be touching the inner (head end) wall with your feet lightly on the inner foot end wall. If you're 6 foot, your nose will be around an inch or two away from the inner (head end) wall. Either way, if you're 6 foot - 6 foot 2. When you wake up in the morning the first thing you'll see is the inner wall an inch or two from your eyes. You can slighlty negate this, by using a bivvy bag over your sleeping bag and pressing your feet a bit firmer on the inner at the foot end. But just bare in mind that the 225cm measurement has been taken corner to corner of the floor and IS NOT a accurate measurement of actual " Usable" space. Netherless, at 6 foot 2 myself, if I had to take one tent for a long multi day trip that can endure anything. It would be the banshee 200

Pitching my new Banshee 200 on very mildly damp ground, the moisture seeped through after 2 hours. Dissapointing.
@BackpackingUK2 жыл бұрын
It definitely shouldn’t do that! Is there a seem through the floor? If so, it’s likely that’ll need to be seam sealed again. I’ve just had this problem with my Tarptent Scarp.
@robbrigham59262 жыл бұрын
The 200 was never worth buying - its very heavy for one to carry and too small for two to confortably use. The 300 was the king - not much heavier than the 200 but really roomy, can sit up in it and split between two people its not too heavy.
@BackpackingUK2 жыл бұрын
The 300 is definitely the one to go for if 2 people are camping.

Cracking tent. Was out in it last night. Semi flawed logic dictates that a Soulo should be 7x as good, which is nowhere near the case. £100 for that, there's no chance anything comes close in terms of value. Biggest criticism is that the pegs are rubbish and there's nowhere near enough vestibule space. Definitely not a 2 man tent, either
