I'm a Muslim Male (I dont plan on becoming some sort of tyrannical Male but this is my genuine doubt). I agree that the verse does not indicate that females are less reliable for providing testimony than men. However I have a question. Isn't the Quran the words of Allah that is meant to be guidance for the rest of humanity until the day of resurrection. Then why would Allah specifically mention the need of 2 women in place of 1 man as a witness for business contracts. Ofcourse this is a mention of gender based difference and not just experience (if it was experience then what was the necessity of Allah to explicitly mention the gender). Allah wouldve obviously known the women entering into the field of business in the future (infact theres a hadith in which the prophet says that women would largely be involved in business in the future). So why would Allah pass such a verse unless it was relevant to the future as well. I totally agree with u that the testimony of a woman in general is not inferior to that of a man and that such a thing must depend on memory and reliability of a person. However this does not explain why particularly Allah states that in the case of business contracts 2female witnesses are required to replace 1 Male witness (here gender is explicitly mentioned, there is no running away) [considering the fact that the Quran is the guidance for all of mankind]. However this doesn't necessarily mean that all women are inherently less reliable than all men. However from my point of view this does reveal that *on average* with respect to business contracts and dealings the female witness is less reliable than the Male witness (otherwise why would u need 2 female witnesses instead of 1 Male witness ... this question is sitting right at ur face... u cant just address this with other examples... this is an explicit verse from the *Quran* )

Conclusion from the above discussion: Despite the expertise of a person (Male or female) in a business [this verse doesn't refute the fact that women can be business experts] while a long term business contract is being made the witnesses must be 2 Males or 1 Male and 2 females ( this definitely does indicate that 2 females are equal to 1 Male as far as they've to become a business contract witness hence implying that in a business contract the witness of 1 female is not equal to the witness of 1 Male which in turn implies that a single female witness to a business contract is deficient than a single Male witness hence providing more reliability for Male as witnesses to business contracts than females). However this doesn't necessarily indicate that all males have greater memory power than all females (but this does indicate that *in general* with respect to business matters *on average* males have better retention than females) ( the decision and responsibility of choosing a Male or 2 females with good memory power is upto the business man). Now someone may ask me. Even if the female was proven to be more reliable than the Male would u choose one Male over that female. No! . If a businessman has an opportunity to choose a witness for his business contract and he has to choose between a man who has amnesia or a man who has good memory power... who would he choose. Obviously the man with good memory power... the same with the case of Males and females. However the verse does indicate that even if you have 1 reliable Male witness and 1 reliable female witness it wouldn't be sufficient ( hence it indicates that 2 *reliable* female witnesses for a business contract equals 1 *reliable* Male witness for a business contract(the wisdom behind that is with Allah)) However in modern society as data with regards to business can be stored and uploaded on systems can allow for such systems of obtaining witnesses to be done away with. As technology allows us to obtain unlimited witnesses(including the govt!) for a business contract.

My argument is simply more reasonable, because it´s an argument based in human history consistent with human nature. It´s a much stronger argument to make. The reasonin is not entirely correct . This video mentions hikmah but ruling are based on illah(reason) not hikmah(benefit). The reason why there is two women witness is because if a women errs she will not given the punishment of false testimony . So she has a safety net of another women but man does not have that. That is the illah(reason) of this ruling.

Scholars said that it was taken to mean this. There is also a huge debate that exists in religion. "Is religion separate from faith" has been discussed in the context of this discussion. This debate is a debate in which men and women are equal. When men do not do or cannot do a deed, their religion is considered to be incomplete. In this hadith, women are compared to this because they cannot perform some deeds. This shows us that what is called religion also shows deeds. Likewise, men can be considered religiously deficient if they do not perform any deeds. In other words, there is no information regarding women alone on this subject. This discussion is generally taken to include men and women. This is the hadith used as evidence in this great debate. Secondly, the scholars have always discussed the sentence "religion is lacking" with the subject of faith that men and women share. In other words, they interpreted that if women cannot do any deed because they are menstruating, then a man who does not or cannot do any deed is considered to be lacking in religion. In this great debate, women and men are not treated differently, they are treated the same as I explained.
