That thermal mesh is what they used to make a mask for radiation treatments to keep my head in exactly the same place every time I laid on that table.

When I made "mini me", I had more than one nerve wrecking moment when trimming the fur... Real hair will grow back eventually, but fake fur is done for if it ends up too short. Took me quite some time to arrive at the right length, always taking off a minimal amount at a time. I molded my nose and teeth with an improvised sculpted master...

Hi Adam, You inspire me so much! I am currently reading your book “Every Tool’s a Hammer” and watch your videos every day-they are incredibly motivating! Adam, in regards to heat guns with small tips, look at hot air stations for soldering. You can dial in specific heat and airflow settings and attach different tips.

Would love Adam to watch back old videos where he faces a challenge to see what he'd do differently. But specifically, watch the videos where the comments solve the problem way easier than Adam makes it! 2 come to mind, one where he transfers hole drill measurements to a piece and the other was the skull cap made of masking tape where he needed a template but instead just wore the template the whole time!

Awesome first fursuit! If I may offer a time worn piece of advice: wear under armour and a balaclava, not only does it make getting in and out of your suit easier, it also keeps the sweat off the interior 😅 I hope to see you at a con sometime!

In the mid-late1980's, I made a life-sized costume, for Halloween, of 'Chewbacca'. I had to order the 'fur' from a fabric house in Sacramento. I used a Simplicity pattern for a mans coverall. I needed to lengthen the legs and arms with other tissue paper. I then laid the fur, fur-side up, on the floor, laid the pattern 'wrong'-side up on the fur. Then used a comb and parted the fur along the seam line & brushed the fur away from that line, both ways. Pinned the pieces together, like the instructions said. Made sure they fit correctly. And sewed the suit. Turned it right-side out & brushed the seams to invisible. Got a 'Planet of The Apes' mask, removed the original fur, and used leftover fur to match the suite. Had a pair of gloves, sewed some leftover fur on them. And made a pair of 'spats' to cover the boots. Kept those on with staples into the sides of the soles of the boots. My (now late) husband, at 7', went to a costume party, at a local bowling alley, and won 1st place! I had to work, so I wasn't there.

It's always fun seeing how you tackled this bear build, especially for me coming from a fursuit making background! Some very similar and very different construction techniques and philosophies compared to what furries use, and I wonder if seeing some realistic fursuit builds would give some inspiration. Makers such as crystumes and bestcub have gorgeous realistic bears!

Never made stuff like that but I'd approach this similarly to an animatronic. Making the skull structure, eyes and facial tissue such as lips first and then put the fur over it. This way you don't get a teddy bear look because if you look closer you notice that with real animals, the fur grows over these areas.

Question, Do you know of any cheap or inxpencive tools that are ok but with simple modifications can make the tool Much more usefull or can rival the expencive dedicated soulition. Example i see people buy harbor freight axe's and properly sharpen them and shape the handle and it is great alternitave @ $12 and 30 min of time.

I Think, looking at pictures of real bears, isn't just that the head needs to be wider, but that it looks like he has too much neck.

Very light for bear fur should be darker I can’t say regarding colour as I am colour blind but it looks too light

I would love to see the head remade! Edit: and maybe a couple speakers in the head/mouth to simulate some guttural sounds. Perhaps some rubber tubing (reducing that hollow sound effect) to carry sound out the mouth, so speakers/amp could be mounted low in the body for better weight distribution. Honestly I have no idea if that’s possible, I’m just spitballing at this point. 😅
