I found the forum very interesting and informative. Rosalind and Max showed extensive knowledge of the subject and a real passion for the future of AI. I think Rosalind performed better than Max. She seemed more comfortable with the existentialistic aspects of an AI future than Max did, as evidenced by her statements about her faith. I had fun noticing the progression of Max’s posture - he was almost horizontal in his chair by the end of the forum. Neither of them stated the obvious difference between AI and humanity-that humanity can care for others and be concerned about them, while AI can neither care nor have concern.

At 6 1/2 feet, Max seemed umcomfortable just fitting into the chair meant for smaller mortals.

Rosalind used her personal examples from life to give answers, hence she was able to connect with her audience (humans) better.

Tegmark and Picard are great, but Fr. Larrey really talks too much without actually saying anything. It would've been better just for Tegmark and Picard to interact.

Why are the journalists asking philosophical questions to professional scientists, instead of scientific ones? Why not leave such philosophical questions to the experts in such field, the professional philosopher?

The scientists here are PhDs. Hence they all have their degrees in Philosophy as PhD stands for Doctor of Philosophy. You cannot have breakthroughs in research unless you have a certain belief system which guides your research direction. Furthermore, I went to MIT and ethics is part of our curriculum.

@@allyip5777 Then you should know that a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) is not necessarily well-versed in philosophy in the traditional sense. The term "Doctor of Philosophy" is historical and does not imply a focus on the field of philosophy itself. If a PhD is pursued in philosophy, then the individual will be well-versed in philosophical theories, history, and methodologies. However, PhD signifies advanced research skills and specialized knowledge in a specific discipline, but it does not imply that the individual is knowledgeable in philosophy unless their PhD is specifically in that field. On the other hand, as the professional philosopher Gustavo Bueno once said, every person has their own 'philosophy.' That is, we all have our own way of explaining the world and its meaning-our own map of the world-which is necessary to navigate through life, unless one is a fool in the literal sense.

@@ytcdi Being well versed in anything is a subjective matter and you are entitled to your opinion. In terms of opinions, many audience in the comment section clearly think otherwise. What I presented to you is an official definition of PhD, which is the degree type of both speakers in this event.

@@allyip5777 That is where you are completely wrong, it is not 'my opinion' that I presented to you, if you can read.

it's getting really annoying listening Max Tegmark, why he can't just work on this public perception, be more a bit active and passionate about AI risks, and FINALLY FIX his the speech habit of sniffling as if he had an eternal runny nose, it's getting ridiculous
