I have a 2017 Guilia 2.0T - The headlight assembly is $400, not $2,700. This car is amazing. It's fast, it's reliable, it's beautiful, mine is all-wheel drive. Easy to work on - transmission is SOLID, engine is SOLID. Just took it on 2 - 1,000 mile trips. I've driven it 8,000 miles in the last 5 months. I have even put some additional mods on it and i am smoking dodge Chargers/Challengers, BMW's, Mercedes, etc... Amazing value. No one is going to steal it - it's too noticeable and easy to spot. This review was filled with misnomers and bad info. Go on line and you'll see almost exclusively happy owners.

I've come to the conclusion that these internet reviewers do whatever they need to do to create clicks and comments, and that's create controversy. There's absolutely nothing wrong with modern Alfa Romeos, but a video espousing that truth wouldn't be interesting now would it?

As an aircraft mechanic and owner of a Stelvio, these are exceptionally well put together cars, the attention to small details is quite nice. Additionally, it has the ZF transmission which is quite bulletproof. The main issue with these cars are sensor issues/malfunctions, not too bad.

It’ll be fine up until about 10 years/100,000 Miles. Anything after that, you’re gonna start lighting money on fire. These modern cars are more or less designed to break down after the warranty ends. It’s not like those classic analogue Mercedes from the 70’s/80’s (W123 300D for example) that were engineered to be infinitely repairable and infinitely serviceable. Plastic and computer chips won’t last in the long run. These modern Euro-Luxury cars (BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Maserati, A.L.F.A.-Romeo, Jaguar, etc) aren’t meant to be maintained long-term past 10 years or so. They’re meant to be leased up until that point, and then junked.

You need to do more research. The current Stellantis owned Alfa's are in the top 5 most reliable vehicles in America. There are some electronic goofs in the system, but that's what the warranty is for. The 4cyl is essentially the same as on the Jeep's, up to the cylinder head.

Own a 2018 Giulia Veloce. It’s done 56k miles and no big issues apart routine servicing. Lovely to drive. Main thing is to change the engine oil regular as the fiat multi air system doesn’t like old oil! Ferrari developed the handling. The steering is lightening fast like the 458 italia I drove. One know quirk on the car is the battery terminals. Keep them clean/maintained and greased and the intelligent battery system will do its job. I found electrical issues on the car were all caused by the intelligent battery system (IBS) not charging the car so I always had the smart charger on it. Now just charge it a couple of times a month.

At the end, I had to replace a steering triangle (first and last time I ever had such an issue since I own cars) and the engineering was so bad that in order to fix this, they had to remove the engine from the car to access it... Don't ask me why! The costs were higher than the value of the car so I got rid of it. I was still a student then and I made the mistake to buy a brand new Peugeot 206 and I got rid of it after 2 years. Too many problems with the electronics. @@onefastboi14 Great machines. I'm not an SUV type guy, but when I get in my wife's Stelvio, it doesn't feel or perform like an SUV. It feels like an Alfa Romeo in all the best ways. No problems with either the Giulia or the Stelvio nearing 50K miles on both. I love the Quadrifoglio vicariously, but for me I need a four-season daily driver. And that drive can include snow, torrential rains, etc.. I need aggressive all-season tires and AWD more than ultimate speed. I could afford a QV, but the Q4 is the better choice for me.

modern alfa's actually do last quite a while. my 159 is at 250.000 km's and still going strong, i saw a Guilia qv with the 2.9 v6 that did a little over 200k miles too! like any car you have to maintain them of course, but with italian cars you just have to maintain them a little better. I do find it odd that parts are expensive over there. i can get the same headlights used for a little under 200 euros here. And all the fluids being that much is just a little over the top. everything i need for my 159 service costs me just about 200 euros, including all the filters, oil, etc.
@anomaly864
@anomaly864 11 ай бұрын
250k kilometers isn't impressing anyone. That's only around 155k miles. Every modern car can last at least 200k miles now without any major issues. Japanese cars commonly make it to at least 300k-350k miles with just standard maintenance.

I think the standard for car reliability needs to be more than just 100K/150K miles. My 1983 Mercedes 300D Turbo (W123) has almost half a million miles on the original powertrain. And a good number of those miles were run on refined waste vegetable oil. Generally speaking, long term car reliability is going down as time goes on. Don’t get me wrong, Toyota and Honda are still definitely the best in that regard, but you open the hood on a new 2023 Civic, you’re gonna see a plastic intake, plastic valve cover, timing belt with plastic valve train components, dozens upon dozens of computer chips. These things just aren’t gonna last in the long term like the older versions from the 80’s/90’s/00’s did/do.

I am a semi truck driver in the EU. On my way back home to Bosnia I do this every two to three months, my company owner drove me home in an Alfa Romeo Stelvio diesel engine. When buying trucks, he got that car as a gift. Every week he travels an incredible 3000 km between Italy and Bosnia. When he was driving me home three days ago, the on-board computer reached an average speed of 150 km/h. Every sports professional driver from Europe knows that it is on the border of insanity or something similar to driving on race tracks. That night, in the sharpest curves of the highways, I constantly looked at the speedometer at 220 km/h. He did not mention that he had any problems with that car. Now he plans to buy a 600hp Maserati.

But I'm nervous to buy if most shops can't work on this car like this guy is saying (I don't live near an Alfa Romeo dealership). I want to be around ~25K out the door with a warranty. I've found used Stelvios in that range (2017-2019, ~70K miles), but I'm concerned about reliability. Wondering if I should put more $$$ down and get into the 2020-2022, ~35K miles range. Would love a variety of opinions!
