Picked up an old iPhone 6S (Broke my Android) Well… honestly, it mostly comes down to the personal… wallet 😅 iOS took a nice turn on many points, yeah But it is still too locked in my taste Can’t have access to things like KZbin Vanced, or Spotify easily You actually need to use KZbin through Brave, and set a playlist within the browser… Easiest way I found to actually play a sound while the iPhone is locked And that’s a bummer :/ Otherwise, they have really nice features The fact that you just need to plug a new device to have a simple clone of the first one (that you lost/broke/update to a new one) is totally neat… But all the locks… Hope jailbreak can fix that, but still, users need to wait, and not update so… well, iOS is still kind of complicated for some users that does not like ads, really… Differents OS, different users

Nice comparison Ella. But for the ecosystem, for almost one thing apple has, Samsung has an alternative. 1. Airpods/ Galaxy buds 2. Ipad/ Galaxy tab 3. MacBook/Galaxy book 4. Airdrop/ Quick share 5. Apple watch/ Galaxy watch So for the ecosystem, if u get a Samsung phone, u can have an almost seamless and same ecosystem experience as apple if u get the other Samsun products.😊 Edit: With the MacBook/ Galaxy book, I know that the Samsung isn't nearly as powerful but if you own a Samsung phone and u want an ecosystem, the galaxy book with be the best alternative, thus MacBook/ Galaxy book 😊

10 year android user here, last one a note 10+ and recently switched to the 13 pro max. Not much of a difference between phones. But, to say that Galaxy Book is an alternative to the MacBook is really an overstrecth, it's just not comparable. However Galaxy Buds are soundwise better than airpods, galaxy watch is prettier, but less sturdy and with same functionality at a "low" price compared to apple watch. Samsung still can't make their products hold the same value as apple, but that has slightly improved in the last few years. And Samsung has tvs, washing machines, stoves, fridges... and they're ALL incredible.

They both have good and not so good points mate , as 9 year android boy with mostly high end galaxys over that time , i bought 12 pro max when it first came out for my first apple device , and for the first week or two i (insert swear word here ……. hated IOS with a passion. 😃 , but a couple of months down the track I learned a bit more how it works ,and it grew on me , i also bought an iPad , and i found that when using the iPad as well seeing how operations work in the same way , it did help the penny drop in picking up the ins and outs of IOS . A bit over a year on on the dark side , what i have found is there is a lot more to iOS in the settings that add function to it than you see mentioned on tube videos , although Ella did a pretty good comparison . Still some things i miss like my S pen , Headphone jack , SD card , , but galaxys these days are not half the device they where a few years ago as far as features go IMO, and currently in a lot of ways android and IOS has become similar . Currently I don’t see me moving back to android , i like the MagSafe on the iphone , the flat screen , and there are some other very nice refinements you come to appreciate on the iphone after a period of time. Some things do still piss me off about iphones , but its good points outweigh it bad points imo , and you can still run a lot of favourite google apps on the iphone like Gmail, keep , maps, calendar , etc , so its not too bad . Good luck with it anyway. It’s up to you mate but i would probably give it a bit more time on the iphone , there is a learning curve , just as there is on android

What in the duck were you thinking? Usually people leave Apple for Samsung and never go back. The differences are in philosophies: -Apple knows what's best for its customers and are slow 🐌 to innovate 💡. This works well for unsophisticated or casual users whom just want to do basics things without all the hassle. -Samsung listens to and often provide what its customers crave. It is fast to innovative 💡 and attract power users who prefer to control their environment by offering the greatest degree of customizations and autonomy. It's really as simple as that. 😶

Thank you for the comparison, very enjoyable. After being an eleven year iPhone only user, then moving to Samsung Note 20 I do not see any reason returning to iPhone. Absolutely Apple does have an outstanding ecosystem. Samsung ecosystem does have the same features as Apple, so with my experience they are considerably more equal than different. A few things to mention about the Samsung Galaxy we have DeX, Desktop Experience where we can connect to a monitor/TV then have a Windows like desktop experience. Samsung phones can have split screen, example working on a spreadsheet slide up a calculator in the lower half, and have other apps open on that screen as well; up to five. That means one does not need switching out of an app, you minimize it to the screen, also it has a slide out quick menu of apps. Samsung's (maybe all Android) copy/paste is amazing, recall when copying something it remains in the buffer, copy something else it replaces what is in the buffer, not so with Android. You can have many incidences of copied text, links, images, and the like, switch between them. Another feature is the keypad, the numbers are at the top of the keypad (same as on a computer and laptop) thus for inputting numbers we do not need switching out of the keypad. Also, for me I have the Note 20, the S-Pen is the killer feature. All that said, and there is more, for my use my Note 20 far exceeds all the iPhone I owned. Using the Note 20 my productivity exponentially improved.

The customization of Android is my favorite part for navigation. I use different launchers from the stock so I can customize to my liking. I also use a gesture app for Samsung called One Hand+ which extends the one hand gestures. In total you get 6 commands from swiping from the edge of the screen (3 directional inputs) and swipe and hold inputs (same 3 inputs) so you could in theory have 12 inputs per side but I just mirror the inputs. I can swipe down my notifications, go back, change audio settings, view recent apps, and more. That level of customization allows me to feel more in control of how I use my phone than being told how I can use it.

And even though you are pointing out some of the unique features the iPhone has like the apple eco system definitely is, it's expensive, too, thinking about the mere hardware in comparison to Windows PC's, Android Tablets or a plethora of phones to select from for mostly way less than Apple would like you to spend on their shenanigans. Of course if money for you is not a big thing then it might be helping you a lot to get things done. But if not, to me it absolutely doesn't matter. There are so many apps today which are stretching across all platforms.. The only thing that really stands out to me with the iPhone is that you can have a 5 years or even older model and still it will be upgraded to the latest iOS experience. That's where the iPhones really outshine any Android because this is almost unheard of in the Android world. But you know what? iPhones, at least newer generations are ugly as midnight with this ridiculous camera bump and also the everlasting nodge on the front. I know there are Android phones who try to be that ugly too and seem to be a major accident design wise. But the iPhone definitely takes the cake. And yes, I enjoy using Nova Launcher Prime in my phone and can customize my phone to my likings which is hard or even impossible to do on an iPhone. And last but not least, iPhones now are definitely gone too far for Apple has made them basically unrepairable as expensive as they get anyways. Hopefully other manufacturers don't follow in the lead for they did when it was Apple to take away the changeable battery option in the first place. Apple to me as good and at times brilliant (M1 Chip) their products may be is to me the worst money grabbing machinery since the Ponzi scheme. I happily will boycott them until I die just like Nestlé for other very obvious reasons need to be boycotted.
@teemuvesala95752 жыл бұрын
Not true at all. The difference in flagship prices is small. iPhones also keep their resale value much better than Android phones. So by buying flagship Android phone you lose more money than by buying flagship iPhone. Also on PC side a lot has changed, components have gotten very expensive (especially GPUs) so Macs aren't really that bad price/performance wise anymore. In fact, there's no Windows laptop to this day on $1000 range that can really challenge Macbook Air 2020.

Additional things that I like with android on Samsung are: separate app sound, split-screen, dual audio to play 2 bluetooth devices at once, and the customizability of the system as well. One of things I like with ios is the timer and the automations as well.
@skankytrick3 жыл бұрын
Google does automations better than anyone, you likely haven't tried using the feature set to its fullest potential. Also, most of the Samsung benefits are available on other Android flagships and midrange phones as well as in Windows. That's the beauty of anything that is NOT Apple: everything works together!

one thing I feel like you missed is that if you want more customization or different UI on android, you have the option to change it. You could hand someone who's used stock oneui for years, my phone, and they would have no idea how to operate it, or why the quicksettings icons are different. That's the beauty of android, the ability to change literally anything. Plus, with the right extensions and apps, you can make android look and act like iPhone as well. And even so, you don't necessarily have to have all of these features. You get to choose.

Xiaomi got better notification and showing the security icons for apps using mic and others, even showing a summary. And the launcher like Poco launcher can show categories. And Xiaomi's Redmi Buds 3 Pro can switch between my iPad Pro M1 and Xiaomi 11T Pro seamlessly, not to mention snapdrop transferring faster to my iPad from my Android phone than from iPhones.... Xiaomi's browser got extensions, Samsung's has ad blockers, LG's did as well.

On Samsung you missed Good Lock, which has many extra customization features, and in Android there is a new security function that is automatically downloaded to 12, 11, and even some earlier versions that checks your apps and revokes the permissions on ones you haven't used for a while... automatic security without even having to think of it. Overall, great comparison!

With all of the overwhelmed and fresh feeling, I enjoyed using iOS ngl. But after 2weeks, literally 2 WEEKS, ended up posting my iPhone 12 online. Sold it for s21. Don't get me wrong, iPhones is such a great formed device but not comparable enough JUST YET with what android (OneUI) has to offer. Cheers! PS. Looking forward to give try for iPhone 14. Great video Ella. Liked the way you presented the differences. I was an Android user for a very long time and switched to IOS about a year and half back. I’ve been on iOS since 2017 and this year may be the year I go back to Android. I switched to iOS for the simplicity of it and because simplicity meant “it just works,” but iOS is not nearly as good as the iPhone. It has so many bugs every time they add features now. And the fact that a 6+ year old phone can do nearly everything a new phone can do shows the hardware is many years ahead of the software.
@TheHugePossum3 жыл бұрын
I agree with the part with bugs but the software is part due the main reason (after its amazing bionic chip) Apples hardware is able to maximise user performance and prolongue its lifetime.
@adriensamuelraj11523 жыл бұрын
Well if they started opening it up and making it like android there would be no difference. If that happens well it's not choosing which OS but actually choosing what trillion dollar company you want to sell your data to. Where iOS is right now, i think they just need to focus on some bugs.

This is a very informative and interesting platform-agnostic look at Android vs. iOS. Your meditation in the "customization" section on using iOS to have media playing before sleep was very interesting. Could this be done on an iPad? Thanks for sharing.
@EldritchAugur2 жыл бұрын
Apple has jumped ahead massively in performance with the new Bionic chips but it will never solve the problem in that I and many other people just don't like iOS, and no performance gains will really eliminate that barrier. My work phone is an iPhone so I'm familiar with iOS, and it's fine, but I would never be able to use it as my daily driver. It drives me crazy even when I just have to occasionally use it for work. Most phone users aren't power users either, so you should really just get the phone that has the features that you want and the OS that you prefer. Phones are all so fast nowadays that you can only really tell the difference in benchmarks or games.

My biggest reasons to stay away from iOS are - 1) iTunes. I have a big collection of my personal music which I find it easier to copy/move on androids file system vs iTunes which is a nightmare 2) customisability of wallpapers, icons,, ringtone etc, 3) file manager flexibility If anyone has a suggestion for iTunes please let me know.
