The Panels thing is so funny to me. MKBHD is supposed to be such a highly renowned tech reviewer, but his own app shows he has the same priorities as Apple: yesterday's ideas at tomorrow's prices. I can't remember the last time I saw someone use a wallpaper app, let alone pay a subscription fee for it. EDIT: Can't believe I even have to add a footnote here...a couple of comments are saying the pricing is just to support the artists and to that I say: why would I want to support the AI "art" they obviously included in here, and two variants of the color orange?

Apple is the whole reason smartphones, tablets, and computers are where they are today. I think my favorite is when people make these boneheaded claims about Apple when it comes to USB C, not realizing they were literally involved with creating USB C and Lightning was revolutionary for what it was at the time. MKBHB tried to cash in on his name without providing a quality product. It’s not that complicated. Apple tries to cash in on its name, but has quality products. An important difference. You can already find great wallpapers online for free.

@@Cujobob so Apples big achievements lie in the past but what's their big claim to fame in current times? Good tech that's way overpriced and, for the vast majority of people, way too powerful for what they actually need. Then there's the niche and even more overpriced tech (Vision Pro) and constant trend-chasing, adding "AI" and similar buzzwords to things as a way to market their shut because they have very little new to advertise otherwise.
@ThePowerLover2 ай бұрын
Stop repeating like a "mind slave" what the lier of Zack said. Yes, the S24 Ultra can shoot video in 4K 120 fps, but the iPhone 16 can do it in HDR, and not HDR10 or HDR10+, but in Dolby Vision, and also in ProRes. And yes, the cable in the box of the iPhone is only USB 2.0, but even phones from Samsung or chinese brands worth more than 3.000 USD do the same. Maybe the iPhone isn't a prototype like those foldable with screens so fragile, that a nail can damage them, but the iPhone is always at the bleeding edge. The thing is, Apple will not ship "half-baked" stuff like shooting in 8K 30 fps in SDR or in 4K 120 fps in SDR, that's not acceptable according to the standard of Apple. Even their 60 hz panel can do new things like lowering the brightness to just 1 nith.

The top rated are also not just rip-offs, downloaded from the web and edited slightly to fit different phone's sizes, but curated artists providing a fully originally produced service. It should be FREE for SD quality to try it on. After you like it, you can purchase it (with reasonable wallpaper price) one time per wallpaper OR let the ADs pay it for you. That's it. Imagine if the price is 1 dollar per wallpaper. 50 dollars means, 50 wallpapers per year! who change their wallpaper 50 times per year?! Been a few instances of people allegedly messing with that stuff and then being killed in accidents and loads of people suggesting they were taken out to protect the gas industry. But here’s the thing, yeah it’s genuinely not that hard to use stuff like electrolysis to turn water into hydrogen and oxygen that burns great. The flaw is that it takes energy to break up the hydrogen and oxygen into burnable fuel and the crazy thing is it’s exactly the same amount of energy to turn it into hydrogen and oxygen as you would get back from burning it as car fuel. Which is always going to be the case because it’s literally one of the laws of physics. That’s why so much of our fuel is dependent on happening to find it in a state where it’s already ready to be burned as fuel instead of making the fuel. Those water droplets don't really cool the air that much, that's what a swamp cooler is and how it works. It decreases temperature by increasing humidity, and it can't decrease the temperature by much. Also, if it's already very humid, they won't do anything other than making something wet.

Between Jakob, Jessica and the MVP Riley. LTT Media Group has some rare gems, cuz his Tim Cook is so good, that when I was actually watching Tim Cook on the Apple event video, my ears could still hear Riley’s voice as the authentic Tim Cook.

You can call it overpriced, but not a scam. "Omg I paid $12 for HD wallpapers and all I got was HD wallpapers, what a scam"
@monhi64Ай бұрын
@@zachb1706it’s not a scam per say but I think you can get what people mean when they call it a scam. Why the hell would MKB go to all the trouble to make an app and make something as useless and oversaturated as HD Wallpapers. The only context it even sort of makes sense is if MKB was a big wallpaper guy and frustrated with the state of current wallpaper apps, well that or shameless money grab. Can’t say I’m very up to date on the state of the one million wallpaper apps though

EU: Makes regulations restricting AI tech. Tech Companies: Doesn't make new AI available in EU. EU: Why are these new AIs not available in EU?

might not be so bad, they get to see how it will affect job industries before deciding if they want to allow it or not and for something as invasive as ai you really are better off developing your own

My guess is that Meta is putting the request wall around LLAMA because it isn't 100% open-source. IIRC, it was something to the effect of "if you're using LLAMA on a service which more than 500k people use, then we'll charge you." So basically, individual users won't have any problem getting it (in the US for now...), but they will be charging people who are going to be profiting off of it.

Panels app is a rushed product that they probably tried to develop inhouse. Infact, willing to bet MKBHD tried to code it out himself with their GD designing the UI.

Let me correct you guys a little, yes Mark did say that the Quest 3S is 200 dollars cheaper then the Quest 3 but if you look at the prices vs storage then it is exactly the same price. 299 for 128gb, 399 for 256gb and the Quest 3 is 499 for 512gb so Mark was using a very basic sales trick when saying "we were able to drop the price by 200 dollars"
