Don't forget the 2008 Tesla bailout loan. They would have died without it.
@billsmith59602 ай бұрын
Tesla never got a bailout loan. Instead, they applied for the ATVM loan in 2010 and received it. From there they paid it off early. So, it was a program that was put in place for companies that could actually pay back the loan (which Tesla did in 2013 even though they had until 2020). Just so you know, others got the ATVM loan too. It's that the DoE got burned by a few bad players and made it more strict. Aptera could get it too but just like Elio Motors (which got the rule changed to allow autocycles) without the ability to pay back the loan, you won't get it.

Well… I’m getting a Prius Prime with the solar roof, been looking at getting an Aptera since ~2007, no vehicles ever made, so I have to grow up and move on. Best of luck.

One of the big challenges will be certainly the selling price. As of today, the 400 miles, 40 miles all solar panels, Front wheel drive, Launch Edition Aptera is $30,700 Maybe difficult to compare with Aptera, but the Tesla Model 3 RWD 272 miles, is $38,990 The Tesla Model 3 RWD 353 miles, is $42,490 but after the $7,500 Tax Credit, is 34,990 The Tesla Model Y RWD 320 miles, is $44,990 but after the $7,500 Tax Credit, is 37,490 If the Aptera could also get the $7,500 Tax Credit, the selling price would be $23,200 Who know what other EVs will be available in 2025 in the $25,000 to $35,000.

@Vocuzvizions 19 years of proof. I was a young man when Aptera was first in a Magazine. I am old now with grey hair and my eyes are failing. The magazines they were in, don't even exist anymore.

19 years of proof. I was a young man when Aptera started raising money to start the company. They were in Magazines, and the magazines aren't even in business anymore. They have done sooooo many rounds of funding and don't even have a production facility, now i'm an old man with grey hair and my eyes are failing and they still haven't ever sold a car. They haven't even built a car to sell. They just raise money and live off of it. They are incentivized to never finish.@@Vocuzvizions

You could ask the same of any other car company, Lucid, Lightyear, Rivian, Faraday, Nicola etc etc. Tesla's start-up was anything but smooth and it took more than a decade to truly get off the ground. Aptera shows that starting a car company is difficult. You ought to be ashamed of making such baseless accusations.

Yeah, I remember when they were raising money in 2005. This has been 19 years of money raising and a next promised step. And money raising and a next promised step and money raising and a next promised step. Guess what they are doing right now? Raising money for a "production facility". How do they not have a production facility by now with all of their rounds of funding?" They have a heck of a PR department though. They own most of the pages that discuss Aptera, and control most of the comments. And foe the person who will come on here and state their later founding date, do your research, they did start raising money in 2005, and start Aptera in 2006, then went bankrupt and the original owners were run out of the company for being inept, they then reformed the company and started the same pattern of raising and living off of funding rounds.

There's a reason carbon fiber, fiberglass and other resin based composites aren't used for mass scale car production, they will need to switch to stamped metal and injection moulded plastic, somehow.
@chawpino83202 ай бұрын
No way they could ever attract enough capital to buy that kind of mass volume manufacturing equipment. Established companies that long ago amortized much of their manufacturing equipment are going broke just trying to keep up with ever changing government and consumer demands. Low volumes mean high unit cost and higher retail price to get any kind of profit margin Ferrari or McClaren they are not. They are so screwed.

noting about it leads me to believe it is anywhere near a scam. Ive been around a long time and when something is a scam its clear to me now... i just dont see anything that points to it. I actually see the opposite.
