Aptera is a SCAM And Hub Motors are another SCAM

Hub mothers are the solid state battery or the fusion energy of motors. I’m sure they will be superior technology employed in mass production someday in the future. (Then again, maybe not!) Waiting for hub motors to go to market is like not implementing solar and batteries because you’re waiting for fusion energy and solid state batteries. We don’t have time to wait around for the most beautifully efficient design to save the planet. We have to use the tools available right now.

Kind of a deal breaker for me. Hub motors were one of my favorite features of the original Apterra design, since they dramatically reduce the complexity of the drive train, not just through power transmission, but also cooling and braking as well. Plus, since it's conventional front wheel drive now, it comes with all the problems associated with that. I wish them the best, and hope in the long run we can get back to the ideal design at some point.

I believe Aptera Company made the right decision to go with the inboard motor. I wasn’t comfortable with the hub motors even though I reserved one about a year ago.

Your analysis is entirely lacking. See Tailosive’s recent video on why 2025 is right for Aptera. Look at what happened to Lordstown and Fisker that were ON TIME with a rushed product that disappointed customers, resulting in bankruptcy. Aptera is trying to get their ducks in a row without wasting capital and ensuring a fully-baked and tested product at the right price. Earlier would have had to contend with greatly inflated battery costs that have since come back down.

A boat owner with a trailer would never use an electric type vehicle. Spending time to detach the trailer just to use the charging station is a nuisance. Those manufacturers who spec their driving ranges are always at their most ideal driving conditions. Batteries don't always retain their peak performance after their numerous charging cycles as time goes by. Your cellphone's battery is a good example. The best running time is brand new phone out of the box. After that proud owner's day, the battery's run time will get shorter and shorter.
@robwalker45483 күн бұрын
From experience of watching what friends have spent on trailers that are rarely used and start falling apart quickly. They are for people that make more than they need and don’t mind or care about wasting their money. I found a simple shell on a pickup is the better way to go and multiple of thousands of dollars cheaper. Even car camping is a cheaper way to go. What some people pay just for storage for their trailers is amazing and cost more than what it would just to stay in a high end hotel close to the areas you want to explore. In the 1990s I traveled all over the western USA in Nissan pickup with a fiberglass camper shell that got close to 30 mph and cost of gas was the major cost. When friends did come with me and their trailers I noticed they were a hassle to deal with and limited some of the places they could go and stay. When they did get a camp ground they were spending more than some hotels would charge. BTW those of you with your trailers sure do clog up the roads in some areas in the summer. I am glad some people try to develop new products and can make a living from it but I find you can do almost anything in life without spending large sums of money.

If you want to live like a bum and by yourself, then forget an RV. Use the van life and get an old E250 for $500. Then live out of it. Instead, I'll just use my Class C and live quite well with my wife in it. On the other hand, I look at a quality of life comes at a cost. I know, I lived in a VW Van and though it was simple, it was nothing like what I have today.

@@billsmith5960 But you're not addressing his main point. In a truck you can drive there and actually go places in the truck itself that a giant camper isn't going to, or would be terrible to take.
@billsmith59602 күн бұрын
@@nathanahubbard1975 - I understand that, but people spend money on trailers because they don't want to live out of a bed of a pickup or go way out in the middle of nowhere. What I do see are when people are trying to do it in a car or pickup, they spend lots of time setting up and tearing down. Then there's that pesky issue with weather. Living in a car or truck when it downpouring for hours on end, pretty much limits you to a small place. Super hot or cold weather is no fun either. I know, I used to camp out of my car, then I did it in a pop top VW van. It was great when I was younger but not now.

@@billsmith5960 I think he was referring to a truck camper, which makes a lot of sense. I saw quite a few of those driving through Canada to Alaska this summer, as well as a lot of small RVs. That's a perfect application of a pickup truck because the roads are terrible and the hotels are few and expensive.

The dollar lost 20% of its value since 2020 so they will lose money if they don't raise the price at least 20%. If you want them to succeed, they need to make some profit.

Inflation has devalued the value of the dollar by at least 20% since 2020. Aptera would need to increase their price by at least 20% over their 2020 price just to break even. If you want them to succeed, you need to want them to earn a profit at some point.
@RaymondCore-ts5jl3 күн бұрын
Using the less-modern version is cheaper and still produces 20% more power meaning the motor will last longer since it's never under strain. The extra, and unexpected, power improvement should offset any bother they aren't using hub motors. When people start seeing these on the roads and asking questions, inefficient cars will not be acceptable from the manufacturers. I want a gas-powered eRex range extender mounted over the back wheel in my Aptera.
