@@MDFGamingVideo They have a new more efficient and quieter motor in the fans these days. I bought their P12 fans a couple years ago but never ran into any resonating noise though I've watched video reviews on Amazon of that issue and they were audible so it has happened to some people. In my experience, having had both a Noctua premium A12x25 fan and Noctua Redux fans, the Artic P12's were no louder and cooled about as well though Noctua's fans had a higher quality build but for up to triple the price (Redux fans were ~$15 and the premium fan was $30, Arctic P12's have been as cheap as $5 or $6 on sale but typically are $7-$9 depending on features like PWM, PST, CO ect.). I haven't heard anything about the P12 Max fans until I ran into this comment section. I'll check them out.

Arctic has exceptionally good price-quality combo in Europe, where it is mostly a lot cheaper than all the other coolers. They even offer refurbished coolers for even less money. In addition they have an amazing customer-support and you can trust them, because if there is an issue, they will let us know about it(referring to aio's from 2021 w copper plate issue) and offer us a solution.

Artic has been a good AIO for a while now. I've used it in a few builds and the thickness of the rads and the price is hard to beat. Supposedly the small fan on the pump also helps circulate air around the power stages which is supposed to help overall performance and longevity as well. One other AIO I like too is the Lian LI Gallahad. Like the Artic it has a slightly thicker rad when compared to other AIO offerings which I think helps the performance of the AIO. The Lian Li is not as thick as the Artic, but they have options to purchase the AIO with their unifans for those who want to spend a little more for the fans for consistency in our builds since you can deck out your entire build with the unifans more easily than the artic build. Keep up the great work.

Hey U inspired me to take risks when buying used parts! I literally just bought 2 "new" faulty cards today. One GTX 970 4GB (Asus) for 30 bucks and a r9 280x for 25 bucks. Both are faulty, the GTX 970 often needs 2-3 boots to start and the r9 280x got really hold and the owner installed a water cooler. Now he sells it as faulty, cause it got so hot with the stock blower. :D I also get the original blower cooler with it. Extremly good buy. I probabaly go to fit a cpu cooler or a AIO to the r9 280x. :)

Part of the reason as why Arctic Liquid Freezer II is that good even till now on the Zen4 or intel Gen13th platform. (highend processor) are due to these factors. 1) They have the offset bracket which aligns properly with the Zen4 processor, as the processor Dies are not centered. with the offset bracket the coldplate fin stack inside the pump aligns dead center on the processor IHS (the dies area). As for intel, it's just dead centered. 2) It has the advanatge of having a 38mm thick radiator which has bigger surface area to absorb more heat off the IHS of the processor, therefore you dont need to run fans at high rpms, be it the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240, 360, 280 and 420, infact best are the 280s and 420s. Thats why at lower rpm, it can get the job done. Of course if you want to ram up the RPM of those P12 or P14 fans, it's even better. 3) If you are not aware of, the reversion of this product which are after Rev 3, Arctic have done a wider fin stack and taller fin stack in the coldpate. Byran, i have sent you an email of my findings which you might be interested as I have done an in-depth series of how this LF2 is being engineered.

Arctic LF II 420 is about 100 EUR(110USD) and is by FAR the best deal possible. I don't know any other PC component, that offers such a price/performance ratio. The only significant problem is that ...this cooler will NOT fit in your case - you need at least 470mm for the radiator and things getting worse if you want to place it on right place - the top of the case. Even Arctic LF 360 needs at least 410mm for the radiator, or removing intake/exhaust fans ...

Have one of these mounted in a 90° case cooling a 13900k With a contact plate, stock settings ambient 70°F, it will keep the 13900k at about 93°c for approximately 5 hours of rendering After 5 hours the 13900k fully heatsoaks my Arctic II 420 and it'll throttle from that point onward at 100°c Quite impressive that it lasts that long, but if your renders/projects go on longer than that, you're going to want to seriously consider a dual rad custom loop to delay full heatsoak for as long as possible

04:58 Yeah MX 4 still is Arctic's best thermal paste offer. The MX 5 is too thin imo, which is why it suffers badly from pump out effect. The hassle of repasting every 3-6 month is not worth the 1-2° Celsius that the MX 5 performs better than the MX 4. As soon as the pump out effect starts to hit it will perform worse than the MX 4 anyways.

@TheRealPotoroo
@TheRealPotoroo Жыл бұрын
Yes and no. GN grudgingly acknowledged that the VRM fan wasn't completely useless, in that it dropped VRM temps by 1-2C. However, on something like a good X670 motherboard where the VRM temps are already around 20C below the acceptable threshold the VRM fan doesn't matter. On a bad B650 motherboard (ie any ASUS) where the VRMs hit 100C without trying hard the VRM fan won't make a meaningful difference. It's a nice idea that in practice doesn't add anything useful. Fortunately, you don't have to use it.

I’m using this on my current build. Arctic is regularly a top performer even with their 360mm version. I choose it because it was a top performer at 360mm and the 420mm just ups the ante on cooling. I would not say it's best or even better than my Liquid Freezer II 360 because, the problem lies in pump speed - all Liquid Freezer II line uses same pump running at same max speed and 240/280/360/420 radiators - see the problem? something like 420 radiator needs pump to be spinning nearly twice the speed of the pump needed for 240mm radiator to supply same amount of liquid at same rate but 420 and the rest pump being the same as 240 - it does not spin faster and that is the ''flaw'' of Liquid Freezer II... ps. I don't say the coolers are bad, they are good but 420mm radiator will only give 1-2c at most when compared to 360mm one due to limited pump speed

the little fan on the water block is a vrm cooler it should be mounted towards the top of the motherboard ... I do wish the waterblcck had some rgb or even just a light strip .. minor compaint . .. I've used arctic for all my am5 builds .. they have performed well .. the thicker rad is the secret .. hopefully other companies follow them . I hate corsair aio's because I have to use icue .. unless it's a all corsair build I avoid using them

Best feature of Arctic II is the small whiny fan can be disconnected since it doesn't really do anything other then being noisy. Cooling your VRMS? No.

Hey Brian, can you look at a KZbin short from Brett at UFD Tech. He talks about a Chinese cooler called a JF 13K Diamond cooler. It looks like a flat tower air cooler. At about US$40 it sounds too good to be true; however, not sure it would fit all MOBOs....

I also chose the Artic Freezer II 420 mm and upgraded it with the NOCTUA NF-A14 iPPC-2000 PWM, which generate almost twice the pressure at the same volume. I use it to cool my INTEL 14900K and it's simply awesome. The thick cooler in combination with the powerful NOCTUA industrial fans is simply unbeatable. I have the power limit at 300 watts and am far from the 100 degree Celsius CPU limit.

DO NOT buy the NON RGB model those fans are not as good as the RGB fans look at the pictures and you will understand why. I am using the ARCTIC Freezer ii 420 with a ryzen 5950x (stock) and when I stream/record/game at the same time the cpu temp goes up to a max of 69 degrees celcius.

Im also rockin an Arctic Freezer II but only the 280mm version. Still really impressive performance with my oced 11600k(5,1 Ghz all core @ 1,47v). In heavy tasks this nice little oc will put at least 260w into the IHS but the Arctic Freezer II can handle this.(not with ease but noise level still is ok). Will upgrade to the 420mm variant when I switch over to Z690/ 13700K combo)

I have this front mounted in my evolv x case, fits perfectly and I even done push pull configuration, used 3 case fans included with evlov case to push and rotated included argb arctic fans to pull. I have to seriously recommend it especially because of how awesome the arctic customer support was and they sent me additional screws free of charge for my push pull configuration.. Unlike some other crappy brands like Thermaltake that refuses to even answer my emails

3:25 I think that small fan is to cool the VRMs. (Should say something on the instructions.) Although you don't have yours orientated that way. Years ago I bought an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro, that saved my saninty from a stock Intel cooler that whined. The Freezer 7 Pro was silent, whereas the Intel cooler made a 'warr' noise that constantly fluctuated up and down.

Hi there, thanks for the great video, as usual. l've been watching your channel for many years now 😊 I missed 2 things in this video: 1- Pump noise: currently running a Corsair 360mm and its software allows me to set the pump to 3 different levels, one of them being truly quiet. How does the pump noise compare to the Corsair? (Also, not sure about the mini-fan on the Arctic model. Those tend to have an annoying pitch.) 2- (Perhaps a silly question) can you replace the fans on the Arctic cooler? l always like to replace the standard ones for better quality fans (l'm asking since the cables seem to be rerouted from factory). Thanks in advance! Regards from DC 😎 (now you know why l'm looking for a new cooler 🙄😅🔥🔥🔥

I have the 420.... And is fantastic in idle 25-28C. with oc my "old" i7 11th generation to 5G (3.6 is standard) with 1.33V showed constant 4.6G at 1.224V at 65-68C, just great, quit just cool. Only thing since you just have one contact you will not plug both cpu/pump on Mainboard so put a fan on the "missing" contact, if not you will on my z590 get an error saying missing cpu or pump fan...will work anyway, just annoying 😂 (the standard MSI 120mm aio what did come with the pc is not crap but just forget it if you're gaming, live streaming or capturing even they say game pc, at least a 360mm, everything less is not good if your oc for those tasks... Believe me)

Okay, you sold it for me. Just bought this for my R9 5900x for £110. I was foolishly going to buy the Corsair cooler because everything I have is Corsair thanks to their proprietary eco-system (I'm going to break free this year). I currently have a Noctua NH-D15S (1x 140mm fan, 1x 120mm fan) and it's okay but struggles to keep control of temps in games. I've got a Corsair 7000D case, so hopefully there shouldn't be compatibility issues (it's claimed to support 420mm radiators). I'll edit this comment if I have any issues, the cooler arrives tomorrow.

@Volvo T6 R design awd It definitely better stay cool with that monster AIO we are using. But man are these Current CPUs freaking Stoves. The 7950X is bad enough with the temps even with this AIO can't imagine the 13900K/KS, it'll probably still hit 100°C with the 420. I'm currently hesitating if i should replace my 7950X with the 7950X3D but i really don't want to spend $700 on the same CPU with a little more cache on it when i bought my 7950X for $550. So i'm convincing myself to keep the regular 7950X lol 😆

@@Gielderst i was going to buy the 7950x3d thats why i kinda overkilled the cooler and the mobo i went rog crosshair x670e gene (well for 2 reasons i plan on staying with that mobo up till the end of the AM5 socket life and i wanted a higher end mobo for VRMs etc etc ) I then thought on the 7900x3d but i was quickly swayed away after the Vcache stacking and the lack there of performance over the 7950x3d .. If i was going to offer any advice on it if you do production work then stay with the 7950x ( the 7950x3d suffers from the same issue the 5800x3d does its great in cache sensitive games but only so so in the rest ) otherwise for pure gaming i ( now ) think the champ will be the 7800x3d .. On the flip side i think being as this is only AMD's second attempt at V cache i see ZEN 5 x3d parts being a better product for the gaming /production ( iron out some of the shortcomings )

Eisbaer Aurora Pro 360 HPE beats this. Imagine a 420 Pro HPE. You also don't have a Z board and limited the TDP to 253, which will be even less of a performer than Ryzen 7950X (not 3d). Make a proper test and include all the best coolers out there.

I have the arctic freezer ii 360 and 420mm im currently using the 420m in a thermaltake ceres 500 case and it just and i mean only just squeezes in there!! I cannot recommend these AIO's enough they are the best of the best bar none !! If i was to make one complaint ( and really just a visual thing ) the pump header lacks flashy gains small function ( with the vrm fan which does help ) but lacks the flash of say your NZXT Corsair etc etc .. 100% your not stuffing around with RGB software and extra rubbish and plus the reason their so cheap is no flashy shit .. for note my 7600x cpu will not get past 85c in cinebenchR23 all core ( all stock to as in throw the cpu in there job done ) we all know the ZEN 4 want to boost to tj max 95c it simply cant get there i havent bothered with OC yet because it was really just a in between cpu !! it was built specifically for a x3d cpu which i will most likely end up with the 7800x3d now ( cant see value or gains in the other 2 ) but im 100% that the arctic 420mm will keep that puppy super cool to !!

This is a great review. Really interesting. I'm just building a 14900K build for my wife and will have a large case with a lot of harddrives so can fit a 420 cooler. The Corsair sounds really loud so that feels like a no go, but this one is really low. I wonder if one would get even lower noise by replacing the fans to Noctua 140 fans. This cooler actually looks so good that I consider replacing my current air cooler for an older AMD 3990X that uses Noctua air cooling. To be fair it does not really have a temperature problem, but I would maybe increase the frequency a bit.
