Thank you very much for this great video. I think I have now found the perfect AIO for my 13900KF. Is there any reason why I should buy a 420 mm instead of a 360 mm if I could fit both? And could you provide some more insight about the longevity of the AIO? I just recently read a review where, after about 6 months, the pump died and that the EK support wasn't helpful at all. This makes me a bit hesitant to buy the AIO right now.

guys, please help me. What AIO to get for 12600k and 13600k? My PC case is Lancool III. I choose between LS720 and Freezer ii 420. I want the system to work quietly even when the processor is overclocked. Can the LS720 achieve 60-70°C at 900-1200 RPM fan speeds? Above it will be noisy, as far as I understand. Or in that case to take LFii420?

If you're going to test things do it right and keep the rad hose fittings lower than the pump. Good chance your pump is experiencing cavitation which will affect it's cooling...and can destroy the pump over time.

Agreed, the way he has those water pumps he has big air gaps where the water is supposed to be flowing. Also the girgling noise is because of the way he has it setup with the air gap and the pump sucking air. DO NOT instal your water pumps standing up in that direction unless you want to burn your computer up.

I also chose the Artic Freezer II 420 mm and upgraded it with the NOCTUA NF-A14 iPPC-2000 PWM, which at 4.18 mmH²O produces almost twice the pressure at the same volume. The air flow rate per hour is 182.5 m³/h, which is around 50 m³/h higher compared to the original ARTIC fans. I use it to cool my INTEL 14900K and it's simply awesome. The thick cooler in combination with the powerful NOCTUA industrial fans is simply unbeatable. I have the power limit at 300 watts and am far from the 100 degree Celsius CPU limit. I also tested the EK Nucleus and wasn't happy with it because the pump is very loud and the fans aren't that great either. Even with the upgrade of the ARTIC FREEZER II with the NOCTUA fans, I paid 180 euros for it and the EK system cost me 200 euros. For my part, the EK NUCLEUS is not the better choice, because with the ARTIC cooling you get a cooling system that, with a small upgrade (comparatively still cheaper than the EK), delivers far better performance, because the cooler unit is just under 4 cm much thicker than EK's. The problem with the ARTIC cooling system is the fans, which generate too little pressure. Hence the upgrade to the NOCTUA fans and the result is, as I said, unbeatable. The EK lights up very nicely. All the best. STANS Hobbies.

Is there a worthy difference btwn 360 vs 240mm aio ?
@jeevan1198
@jeevan1198 Жыл бұрын
360MM AIOs have a much larger surface area, so it will be a lot more effective at dissipating heat. And with three fans on 360MM, they won't need to work as hard as two fans on 240MM, so they can run at a lower RPM, meaning less noise and better cooling than 240MM. There might not be a big difference between them in regular workloads, but in heavy demanding workloads, and if you plan to overclock your PC, a 360MM would be significantly better.

2:20 ugh this is EXACTLY what my 13900k is doing with a Noctua NH-C14S - I hit 37000 on a good day but always throttle within about 15sec. I've tried new paste/reseating the cooler twice. Now running with 2x140mm cooler fans, plus 2x140mm and 6x120mm case fans, all Noctuas. Tonight I manually put all fans at 100%, opened every panel on my case, and blew a box fan straight at it with the window open and no difference. I came to this video because I'm convinced I can't cool this thing with air at all. I'm losing my mind. The problem is that you're using a low profile air cooler for a 13900k 🤦, did you expect it to be able to cool one of the hottest CPU's? You need a premium air cooler at minimum - like the Deepcool AK620/ Assassin IV or the Noctua NH-D15, or you could go with the Deepcool LT720 360, which is a budget friendly 360mm AIO cooler which can definitely handle a 13900k.

It's a shame with an experienced youtuber, he makes this mistake - mounting with the tubes up where the water enters and exits the radiator (the radiator mounted vertically in the position in the clip). Any radiator is not filled 100%, and thus leaves the pump on the processor without water close. Pity, and obviously inconclusive tests, useless in fact. Hence the thermal trotilling. Sorry for the work done. I hope you retake the tests properly. Only good. No offense.

that packaging: it has to be one expensive AIO. Car manufacturers are going to be getting ideas on how to rinse more money from punters for their radiators! My latest Z590/i7-11700K (not a cool-running CPU!) build is using a 280mm Arctic Liquid Freezer II non-ARGB and it's working great. Very low temps running prime95 & Cinebench etc. stress tests: temps have been low 80s max (ambient is still kind of cold here however). I'm very impressed. I've been using Noctua air coolers on AMD builds and AIOs on Intel and the Arctic is performing excellently and is much quieter than the Noctuas to boot! I favor cases without glass sides: I made one PC with ARGB and decided no more. It's great to look at for about 5 minutes and then becomes an expensive irrelevance. I'd much rather have the performance at a lower price and put the saved money to something like a better GPU (or just a GPU in the modern era!)

My i9-12900k Instantly throttles and hits 100C as well. I've tried undervolting the CPU and it helps but core 5&7 hit 100 everytime no matter what and I can't undervolt any further without crashing. As soon as cinebench finishes it drops instantly to 34C and idles at 25-30C.... dunno what else to do lol

what cooling solution? What case? What motherboard? I have one in an MSI motherboard with a Fractal AIO in a Fractal case and it's never throttled running stress tests. Doesn't even get over 95C. Silicon lottery is also a thing. I do wonder if Lauri's i9-13900K is throttling and under-performing in this video just because it's not the best example. There's a lot of variance between chips, which is basically why Intel originally created the i9/i7 split: it was basically the same chip, just binned for better performance. There's been more differentiation since Alder Lake with core counts however.

My 140mm AIO cooler in my NZXT H1 v2 actually performs pretty good. It "tames" a 13900 non k (219w TDP) and in Cinebench R23 it gets a score of about 37k. The processor will momentarily pull up to 275w before it starts to thermal throttle and drop to around 240w to 250w power draw which is surprising since I didn't think the non k series was allowed to boost so much (probably my Asus B760 MB's doing), not to mention I didn't think the AIO cooler would be able to keep up past 200w, maybe the Noctua NT-H2 paste I used really is that good. Overall considering I stuffed a non k 13900 into a SFF case a score of 37k is pretty good in my book. My PC may not be getting a score of 40k, but it's also a third of the size of most PC's that are housing a 13900k that is capable of hitting 40k. My PC is also still really quiet, it's actually the quietest PC I've ever owned.

They are going to have to build chips with larger interfaces with the AIO in order for better heat transfer, or something to get a handle on this heat problem with CPU’s. Even if you can get the temps down so that they don’t shut down, running these things that hot all of the time will shorten the life considerably.

I think one of the things that hurts the Arctic liquid freezer ii is the pump speed is only 2000 RPMs where as the EKWB pump speed is at 3100 RPMs. Also, the Arctic liquid freezer to fans top out at only 1,900 RPMs. I'm wondering if replacing those fans with 2000 RPM fans will make a difference. I would like to see Arctic increase the pump speed to 2700 RPM.

@@paulking4908 I've had both, and Arctic do a great job, it's quiet, performs, and can be had at a great price. A great all round cooler. I currently have the EKWB Nucleus CR360 Dark, and it definitely performs too, but is on the louder side. The pump on the Ek does make a faint whining buzzing type sound, where the Arctic is super quiet. Can't go wrong with either but I prefer the Ek once the fan curves are adjusted to my needs. I've tried a friend's noctua fans on the Ek and while it didn't really decrease temps, it certainly made the pc quiter so I'll probably look into that later on as I'm not really getting into "loud" territory with my setup. I had the LT720's which also perform and are great value but the pump carked it within 3 months and the next one within a month! Fingers crossed that I don't have issues with the Ek 🤞

So basically no one can run an 13900K with its full potential without a custom liquid cooler: Not even a 420 AIO can make it run for even 10 min at 100% speed. Thats a bit odd to learn, since I just bought a 14900K. I THINK im gonna undervolt/clock it a little to avoid high temps. Also im getting the LGA 1700 thermal backplate to help cooling too.
