Is Arkady Martine's "A Memory Called Empire" a memorable novel? Review and ranking on the SF Ladder.

Tonight I review Arkady Martine's debut Hugo winning novel for 2020 "A Memory Called Empire". I provide a plot overview, talk to what I liked, what I didn't like, put it to the memory test and rank it on the Sci-Fi Shed Ladder. As always, it's a pleasure spending some time with you in the Shed!

It sounds like a 'big picture novel like Dune. Sometimes when I'm in the mood I can get stuck into one. 500 pages is a serious read. But I do like the concept of some startling new technology that some other writer hasn't thought of. What's the name of those 3 novels printed in about 2000 of biotech star ships where the captain bonds with the ship the way a pet does and has a life long bond with their star ship. I've forgotten but it started with M. They were 'big picture' novels.

hmm, there's been a few books that deal with that theme, the one that comes to mind is Peter F Hamilton's Edenist comes t mind, not sure if that's the one you are talking about. It's part of the Night's Dawn trilogy.
