Your video quality has gotten so much clearer! 😍 Anyways this video is pretty spot on, everyone's answers on this question is VERY subjective. My biggest concern about basic training isn't necessarily failing, but getting kicked out for something that I can't control (ex: injury). Makes me so nervous, I don't want to get separated, especially when I want to serve a 20. this is everything to me/:

I agree with u about PT. i was a State and National class athlete in five sports out of HS. and I definitely lost speed and strength. I could run well under ten min. for two miles so Double time was hard cause a very slow jog for me I was still running up the buts of the people ahead of me and too fast to walk fast. Once we got AIT and got to have weekends off from time to time I found out how weak I had become and got back on as much of my own training as possible and my times went down to under ten min for two miles and benching for reps got a lot easier and heavier again, back where I use to be. If u go into Basic and got to where u could handle a three mile run at the pace to just do the min for a two mile pace and do sit up and push ups at least at the min for 9 months basic should not be too hard for u. After PT the harder thing is sleep and operating on what u get for sleep.

Just as many as you can , until you fail
@luiswhetstine60964 жыл бұрын
For me...Basic was easy, the only thing that was slightly difficult was the physical part (I didn't prepare myself). However, this is different to each individual as you've stated. My suggestion is to physically prepare yourself and as much as you can prepare yourself mentally (not easy to due). If you remember to take in all that is being given to you, but let in one ear and out the other the nonsense the drill sergeants say to you (yelling) you do just fine. You will get out of basic that which you put into it. Basic is the beginning of an awesome adventure, so have attainable goals and then go for them.

Do you recommend i start working out right now to try and get fit enough for it? I'm still contemplating even joining because of you know the whole joining the military kinda thing. i don't even know if i wanna join the army man. there's so many choices im only 14 but i don't wanna go out of highschool unprepared.
@luiswhetstine60963 жыл бұрын
I’d say yes, but do it gradually and do it for yourself just to be physically fit. This way if for any reason you do not join, you’ll be fit none the less. Look into what is required for the army physical fitness test as well as the army combat fitness text and occasionally text yourself to see what you need to do to improve yourself. Also familiar yourself with army history.

@luiswhetstine60963 жыл бұрын
Do your research...check with all the branches that interest you. In reality, all branches have their risks. However, if you’re more concerned about risk than services, then maybe the military isn’t for you. If you’re going to join the military, you have to be 100% sure, regardless of the risk. So, get with all the recruiters and get all the information you need. Ask as many questions as you can think of.

For example, I want an MOS that is suitable to my skill set and I guess for someone who hasn't yet joined the military it can be hard to really figure that out, especially having not been to a recruiter yet and in my instance I would like to know BEFORE going to the recruiter so I can get what I want. Just wondering, around how long do the workouts last a day during basic? Just wanna get myself ready.
@macburger50266 жыл бұрын
The Mango I wouldn't call PT or smokings "workouts." There are no "workouts" during basic training or AIT. The PT sessions last like an hour or an hour and a half and you will do them like at 0530. In the actual operational Army (if you're active duty and not national guard or reserve) you will do PT at like 0630 or earlier. Organized group PT in the Army is *MANDATORY* and you will do it just about if not everyday unless you get on some temporary medical profile or if your officer or non-commissioned officer (we don't call them "sergeants" we only address them as "sergeant' when we talk to them) is just feeling generous. The Army, regardless of your MOS, is about *INFANTRY* so you will be doing *a lot of PT* and you will be doing the hardest PT next to the Marines. If you're not down with this, but you still want to join the military and be on active duty, then you might want to check out the Air Force instead of the Army.

@tobygoodbar6 жыл бұрын
simple concept. so check it out. if you're just a couch potato and start being physical you're going to make adaptations to the new stresses. Military physicality/exercise is endurance based, high rep etc. So if you're a big muscle guy sprinting, lifting weights, wrestling etc then you probably don't have a big "gas tank" (think how MMA fighters look, they don't look like bodybuilders) that extra muscle you have to carry around and power it. But now you're not training the same, probably not eating enough, no supplements and you can't even remember what 8hrs sleep looks like. Make sense? or still questions?

what are the things they give you like clothing ware also will they let you get running spandex for the pt and also what's it like buying things at the store with the drill instructor.
@kidthndr27 жыл бұрын
They issue you the uniform and thats it. There is spandex inside of the PT shorts, buying things doesn't change. Your at a store not a big deal.

Okay I have question how do you do good on the First day at basic camp I am 13 and wanting to join the army but I do not know how do I do good on the first day
@kidthndr27 жыл бұрын
Day Zero aka the first day. Is mostly a test of your will to be there. To make sure your not there to just get there and quit. Theres no real way to do good. The best thing to do is just be in good shape.

head hunter37 what was so hard about it. My son is leaving next month and I wasting to know what he will experience
@headhunter37444 жыл бұрын
Oh..I hope ur son's training goes on as smooth as possible... Dont worry,basic training is unusually hard (both in term of phisical and mental) but I can assure u,every thing will be done with extreme safety precaution... As per my experience,he will experience lack of sleep.(I used to get 3_4hr of sleep and my training duration last till 11month)..and if he is poor at running,then he will be having a hard time coping with training.. Plus (with no cell phone rule (he might feel cut off from outside world).but it's ok.all it take is to get used to that life style... My advice(sure it is hard as hell but with enough will power,positive thinking and good physique,he wont be having a hard time like I do....best of luck for both u you..

Hey I am looking at join the army full time enlisted but I'm a father of three boys and my wife. The recruiter sead he will help me but I wanted to know how it will be living with the base pay and everything else living in base. I guess my question is can we live on that budget?
@kidthndr27 жыл бұрын
I dont know your expenses or what you would buy. My guess is yes , If you cut down on some stuff its definitely possible. Look up BAH and Basic Pay with your recruiter and than calculate your monthly expenses. Another reason I can't fully judge is I dont know what rank you will come in with , or where you live. So with your rank and where you live you could possibly be brining in 1700 every 2 weeks which is what one of my friends was doing during bootcamp.

Im 17 a junior in high school I'm really skinny and not really strong will the army fix that
@famousramus22886 жыл бұрын
Yes, but I would advise you to prepare by running miles, push ups, lifting weights a little, pull ups, sit ups, etc. That is great if you are skinny because you don't have any weight to lose and you will only gain weight with added muscles. The Army should fix it because you are forced to stay in shape and therefore you should get stronger
