If you've learned American English, Mr villaescusa, you're absolutely correct. However, British English speakers use the plural for collective nouns such as "team." This was one of the many differences between American English & British English that I learned when I spent a summer at the U of Cambridge about 54 years ago. I actually like the job that KJP is doing. When she first started, I thought that she was God-awful and totally incompetent. Now, however, she is being sent out to defend the indefensible.
