For me it's quite simple actually. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone can fall down. But at the same time anyone can get back up, and anyone can be forgiven for their crimes. It's understandable if they can't be trusted anymore, you'll just have to put on faith that they did, even when theres a possibility that theyll do it again. But then again, the punishment must play a role too. You cant just throw him in jail for many years and expect him to be renewed as a person. The current system lacks the 'lesson' that they need to 'purify' the criminal. Sorry, i dont know much terms so bear with me lol. Cancel culture is so stupid thinking that they're doing the right thing to destroy someone's life completely without regarding whether or not the person has changed. I'd like to say these people are just hypocrites who keep bringing up old stories of people but gets pissed if someone mentions their bad past. Blood lust. People are so filled with rage, especially now..they love to join together against a common ‘enemy’ regardless of facts-Especially on the internet. It’s Frankenstein’s monster. Torches and all. Saying stupid awful things years ago trying to be cutting edge ‘Howard Stern’ shocking-but just being inept shouldn’t define you? I’m not a fan of these people but who will be the judge of what is funny-it’s a bigger issue. Logan Paul showed a dead body in one of the most sacred places on the planet. He received less punishment. Something isn’t right. Edit: are we going to go back and go over every comedian who does crass awful ‘jokes’? It’s all or nothing -can’t pick and choose!!!

What sucks is most people get shit on just FOR thinking logically and that’s such a huge issue. I’ve literally been told to not think about things logically before because that ignores emotion but shouldn’t logic always overrule emotion? That doesn’t mean you can’t sympathize, that just means you don’t let emotions cloud what is wrong and right.

One quote I will always remember from my history teacher that always stuck with me was 'To judge the past by our current standards is a mistake that will call into question your own past when the time comes. So if you believe yourself a saint then by all means judge, but even those looked up to in history have things they could be called out for today.' Just learning about anyone in history you come to realise they were all wrong in one way or another. Society grows and changes and so do their moralities. Who knows maybe in the near future how we treats pigs on farms will be looked on as barbaric. Cancel culture is just eliminating any sort of thought into how we change as a people and immedietly destroying the lives of our fellow humans for trivial past mistakes.

I also think there is another big issue about cancel culture : people conveniently forgetting about issues brought up to the public before. So even if you apologies once and grew from a mistake, someone can still try to bring it up again just to cancel you another time. It brings the question of how many times am I going to pay for that mistake that I've already apologize for. It's crazy to me.
@ralucaioana6274 жыл бұрын
true, but most of the time the apologies are not sincere. And just writing a few sorry words in a doc file isnt gonna prove anything. What I think people should do is to give them time to prove themselves they-ve grown and are truly sorry. Just saying sorry so people would shut up about it and to play the ”ive already apologized for that why u still brining it up card” card isnt going to do anything.

Someone in your community post about Jenna said this (something like this) Canceling someone for doing something in the past is like punishing your 17 year old for something they did when they were 5 You can hold them accountable for what they did and they can apologize, but you don’t have to go out of their way ruin their entire life
@jeremymanwaring59344 жыл бұрын
punishing someone who’s above the age gap of 15 and knew what they were doing is not the same as punishing a 5 year old. people have education for a reason.
@justthetruth39504 жыл бұрын
But Jenna wasn't cancelled tho, the reason Jenna decided to talk about accountability is because people always compared her to other youtubers that were problematic. Jenna wanted to say that she wasn't unproblematic, that she has done things in the past that she isn't proud of, and coming clean is a way of taking accountability by herself because she thought it was the right thing to do.
