Cory Plum This guy saying the truth. But I believe it’s fair. Just like in basketball, America builds there dream team by picking all-star players. It doesn’t mean other players in NBA league play bad. But we still need to pick best, which are among the best.
@jwzhu
@jwzhu 5 жыл бұрын
@@reinebautistamercado4286 I know it's unfair. but letting one particular country dominate EVERY international tournament would not be conducive to the development of TT. It would be boring to see all Chinese players in the round of 8 in each tournament. then TT would cease to be an international sport. I'm Chinese, but I have to admit seeing Chinese players win all the time is kind of boring.

The truth is, as dominant as the Chinese players look on this chart, China is even more dominant if you consider that international tournaments only have a limited number of spots per country. China only gives the opportunity to travel to their top 2-3 players (Ma Long, Zhang Jike, etc.), but there are many, many other players in China that play near that top level.
@xx765
@xx765 Жыл бұрын
If all Chinese players are allowed to enter international tournaments, they will probably get 14 out of the top 16 spots every time. It's a known fact that the singles gold at the Chinese National Games is the most difficult title in TT. Zhang Jike, one of the most decorated players on international level, never managed to get in top 4 in men's single his four or five attempts at the Chinese National Games. There are just so many player at the similar level. That's also why Ma Long is the GOAT with his two wins in men's single in Chinese Games. Only player in the history of China to ever do so.

Thanks to the absurd Ranking system that ended up making DiMa World #1 and threw Ma Long out of top 5. Today's ranking system is based on how many tournaments you play and not on the quality of the tournaments played and won.
@dhanarputra555
@dhanarputra555 5 жыл бұрын
It sure has the flaws but logically...If you're the best, you have to prove it among the best right here right now. Ma Long injury is seriously affected his performance. And it's fair to outs him from top 5. Who's the best chess player (for example)??? Many people will answer it's Garry Kasparov. But I'll say Magnus Carlsen. Ranking system should be seen as *temporary performance-o-meter* based on activities. Another analogy, Gareth Bale is a great player *in the past* . But he always had accute injury that hinders his performance so Mohamed Salah is far better than him in ranking.

The new ranking system for table tennis is not good, Ma long can definitely beat Ovtcharov Dimitrij or at least stand a huge chance against him, but this ranking system is based on basically who wins the most competitions, not necessarily being stronger players.

The ITTF did this so that more players try to reach those big competitions like the world tour. It would mean that they practice harder than before because the rivalry increases, as well. It must be incredibly hard to be a pro. I respect their efforts so much.

you need to know the rank of table tennis means nothing compare to tennis or other major sport. China has huge amounts of top level players in reserve, who have very little chance to play in the big events (due to the limitation of number of player single country can send), hence they don't have high ranks.

@shadow135izoiiz
@shadow135izoiiz 5 жыл бұрын
@@milkeyekokuto8820 That's a good argument for olympic participation where only two per nation can play in single tournament. But have you seen how much chinese players can play in the same ITTF tournament? For example: 15 Chinese male players participated in the recent ITTF Challenge Plus, Portugal Open. After the round of 16, only 5 Chinese players were left, and only in one match, two chinese played in the same match against each other. So Chinese players are in fact not able to dominate the ranking completely, because they have not enough top tier players. It is as easy as it is.
