I think he is trying to explain that there is a different perspective to life. Confidence is essentially the faith in ourselves that we can do something. What he is telling us is to do whatever it is, if it needs to be done and don’t be bothered by the outcome. Just follow our Karma. The problem with confidence as a concept is that, provided the outcome of our efforts are not how we expected it to be, confidence will get hampered. On the other hand we are just trying to do what is expected of us or needed of us, the outcome does not matter, our conscious effort is enough.
