I always find it interesting that each Bond has a very unique, very distinct style of film from their predecessor. I feel like Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig are the closest in style, whereas Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan are also very similar. But still they are all very different from each other. One of my favorite things about the Bond series is watching it change over time. I love Daniel Craig, but I don't think his movies are very good, besides Skyfall and Casino Royale. I think they've effectively sapped the character out of him. But under those conditions, he's performed extremely well. Daniel Craig will forever be remembered as the "tortured, gritty Bond." Even more so than Dalton was. A man of very few words and outright brutality. The inexperienced operative acting out of impulse, instead of the more calculated Bond of Goldfinger. I like seeing this kind of thing, though. It's one huge reason why I love the series so much.

Sean Connery was a 6’3” ex bodybuilder and in his prime could pick Daniel up and throw him. Regardless of that Dan is a very muscly little nugget and does a great job but his Bond is WAAYYY too serious. If you’re gunna have a garrotte in your watch and jump cars 100 meters it be hooves you to have a sense of humour. That’s not Dan’s fault so much as the tone of all of his movies. Roger had a laser in his Seiko and he acted accordingly.

Agree to disagree, I think Craig has the most underrated, real and quite hilarious humor as a Bond. Its not the "in your face" style of Roger Moore humor. But I think you really have underrated the humor in the newer movies. They are way more serious and gritty as movies in general, but when there is humor its on point. As far as the gadgets, we dont really have any crazy ones, thus far. Everything is pretty much realistic in a way. But yeah Young Sean would beat every Bond combined in a fist-fight xD

In my opinion, Mission Impossible has long since surpassed James Bond as the king of the espionage-action franchise. Mission Impossible consistently delivers tense gripping action, incredible real life stunts, and just enough character development to drive the whole thing forward without getting excessively bogged down in lore. Not only that but I feel Ethan Hunt (minimal as his character backstory is) is a much more compelling hero for the modern era - whereas Bond has always been a character who succeeds because he has the best gadgets, is the best fighter and is effortlessly smooth because he's always one step ahead of the game, Ethan Hunt's borderline psychopathic never-give-up attitude in spite of his gadgets failing, in spite of getting his ass kicked by tougher opponents, and in spite of getting outsmarted and their carefully laid plans quickly turning to shit, makes him so much more compelling and aspirational as a hero.

Casino Royale and Skyfall are both so great because they work as "origin" stories for Bond to an extent. B21 was essentially Bond Begins, while Skyfall calls back to the earliest Bond films, quite literally setting them up to go back to the beginning with Bond, M, and Q as if they were just about to roll into the start of Dr. No. They both work well as standalone films, like the best Bond movies always have.

Daniel Craig is a great Bond, but just behind Sean Connery, who was the full package. He had physicality, suave humor and gave the impression of being dangerous even when he was being polite. The others are also good, but for me, it's Sean Connery first closely followed by Daniel Craig and then the others.

Daniel Craig is the Christian Bale of the Bond Franchise. His Bond films are The Dark Knight Trilogy of the franchise. Craig made Bond, dark, gritty and a believable character again. He brought the franchise back to it's roots. Just like Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan did with the Batman character. Casino Royale is the Bond version of Batman Begins. It gave fresh new life to the Bond Franchise, and brought it back from the goofiness and the over the top galore of Die Another Day. Just like Batman Begins did it after the backlash with Batman & Robin. Craig made the Bond films, dark, believable and realistic again. Also you could say that No Time to Die is the Bond version of The Dark Knight Rises. As Bond sacrifices himself to save the world just like Batman did it in The Dark Knight Rises. Both the Bond and Batman films have had a similar evolution in tone and depiction. By initially starting off as dark and gritty, then becoming camp and over the top. Then becoming dark, grounded, realistic and serious in tone again.

I don’t think it’ll be a massive shift at all. I imagine they’ll just cast Henry Cavill (or someone that looks like him)
@YoungPadawan855 жыл бұрын
i would say that is a bad choice after they casted him in the batman vs superman, it's hard to shake a role that an actor portrayed in a film that was ultimately like watching a trainwreck in slow motion, thats not a dig against the actor, just that bad writing for a character in a film will often warp an audiences perception of them irrigardless of how good or bad the actor is, just a sad fact of reality
@simonegreco19585 жыл бұрын
Adrian Howard I think Cavill has enough presence so that audience can see him in a new role After all he’s got that new Netflix show coming out

The thing with his suits is even that wardrobe designers (whatever they are called) even confirmed that this tight fitting suits aren't fashionable. Suits have obviously grown tighter since Connery and Moore but not to that extent. He's supposed to be the height of British Gentlemen-ness and can't even dress right.

After seeing No Time To Die... yes. Heartbreaking, yet we all were so engulfed with shock and emotion that it shows that he is the best James Bond. Sean, Lazenby, Moore, and Brosnan never made me cry... and I’m a grown man... Family was the overall arc to his anthology.
@thescreentroll86323 жыл бұрын
They never wanted you to cry. They wanted you to have fun and watch an entertaining spy movie. So, your kinda asking them to do something that went against Bond. Also the ending to no time to die makes no sense and is just shit, the writers wrote themselves into a hole.

I don't care who stars in the next Bond, I just want it to be a straight mission. I'm so sick of James Bond being a "Oh it's your worst enemy". It's the same problem in Mission Impossible with Tom Cruise always being a traitor. I just want a spy movie with "Here's your mission, go solve it".
