The most unrealistic part of this entire franchise is when Bond and Silva slide down the side of the London tube station escalator. I can tell you that anyone who’s ever lived in London and used public transport has imagined doing it, but those killjoys at tfl put little road blocks every couple of metres so you can’t go hurtling down 20 to 30 metres worth of escalator that hundreds of people are using. It’s just unfair.

Fun fact: In Skyfall (2012), the opening sequence shot in Adana and Istanbul (Turkey) took around two months to film, three months of rehearsals, four months of preparation, 200 crew members from England, and another 200 local crew, in order to produce around twelve to fourteen minutes of screentime.

A slight correction to your Trivia about the "PUFFY HANDS" so the scene in which the gloves had to be replaced is actually the scene where he fights the assassin in the high-rise tower. If you watch the earlier part of the scene before he jumps on the elevator, he puts on his lovely gloves in the car. Then he proceeds to enter the high-rise and suddenly he is no longer wearing gloves as he holds on to the elevator, then as he steps through the glass doors holding his palm recognition gun. This is where his whole hand has been replaced due to the gloves. It gives a nice close up of his CG hand! This can be confirmed by the end of the same scene where he is holding the assassin out the window, suddenly he is wearing gloves out of no where again, and they even cut to a close up showing the gloves.

I think this film allows Daniel Craig to play his best Bond. An extensive look into the characters psyche, getting into the past of a somewhat mysterious character, telling an intimate and emotional story. I love this movie and you can see what they were going for with Spectre but without M or some other form of emotional weight and relevance for the audience, the story falls flat. 17:29 Funny thing about agents featured in movies (FBI, MI6, CIA). The slim fitted suits would be a hinderance to their job. The FBI handbook specifically advises to have suits that are sizes larger, so the loose fit can help in concealing your weapon and more easily access it. And of course, having a fuller range of motion, unrestricted.

I think it's a testimony to "Casino Royal" that people suddenly think "Skyfall" might not be a great Bond-movie, because the story and the villain's plan makes no sense. It's a Bond-movie. The villain's plans never made sense. These movies have always been silly. However, after "Casino Royal" people forgot how silly and frankly stupid this franchise usually is. If the Craig-movies had not changed the tone so much in their first movie, nobody would have complained about "Skyfall"'s plot being too stupid and not making sense.

Skyfall is my favourite Bond film for a number of reasons, the cinematography is the best in the series due to Roger Deakins, before I saw it I wanted three things: see more of M.I.6, more of Bond’s history and a good villain, which I personally got. It is influenced by The Dark Knight, which is probably another reason, but I don’t think it’s a complete copy of Nolan’s film, and it just set Bond back on course after Quantum. Although it was followed by Spectre, it’s a great example of how good Bond films can be while keeping the Bond formula in the modern day.

My favorite of the Craig Bobd films. It's good, man. Like, there's a little camp and corniness in it with things like the train falling through the ceiling, or the helicopter blaring out music as it descends on Scotland, but those feel true to this series of films (as opposed to Spectre's camp and corniness). It doesn't feel out of place or anything. I think I remember at the time people complained there wasn't enough of Bond being "dead"/in retirement (or maybe it was just me who thought that, idk), but I think once you look past that aspect of the film, and see it as more of an M film, it totally works. Also, never knew about Kincaid originally being played by Sean Connery, which makes a lot of sense in hindsight. But I think it's good they didn't do that, because it'd be too on the nose and too distracting.

I'm surprised that you didn't discuss how Skyfall messes up the Daniel Craig Bond chronology. After Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace establish the origin of James Bond, this follow-up is all about Bond being washed up and no longer fit for duty. This movie makes way more sense as a conclusion to the Craig-era Bond arc, not as his first outing after establishing his origin in the previous two films. It's like going from Batman Begins directly to The Dark Knight Rises.
@TheJadedJames
@TheJadedJames 3 жыл бұрын
The thing is, if you do a "young Bond" movie with Bond in his 30s, a decade later he's going to be in his 40s. That is just how time works. The movies can't just keep pretending Craig is younger than you'd usually expect Bond to be. They were always going to have to address his advancing age eventually. That is why they had to cast Tom Holland of all people to play Nathan Drake, so they can get a full franchise of movies out of him before he's 50 or something.
@PuertoGeekan
@PuertoGeekan 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheJadedJames I see your point. The problem is we never got to see Craig doing Bond in his prime, going out on missions and saving the day for queen and country. @TheJadedJames
@TheJadedJames 3 жыл бұрын
@@PuertoGeekan I'm honestly just more upset that Craig's last two movies were bad than the concept of "young Bond" only lasting two movies. It also didn't help that there were huge gaps in the filming of the entire Craig era, we got 5 movies across 15 years, versus Brosnan where there was reliably a new Bond movie ever other year from 1995 to 2002. If that pace had been maintained for Craig, his 5th movie would have dropped around 2013/2014 and the scripts wouldn't have to talk so much about him aging out of the spy game because he'd only be in his early 40s
