This may sound borderline silly to some but to me it just proves how crazy deep social conditioning goes. Until this video I have not realised how bizarre and unhealthy it is for those who mourn to also be burdened with organising the funeral and making other arrangements. What you describe sounds like a wonderful, healthy, kind and beautiful way to deal with death in the community. Thank you for sharing and I hope you and your loved ones are as ok as you can be at the moment.

Just to add, I would say the concept of " Eddir" is an ancient long community organizatiin which is a small istitution like " burial Insurance ". You lost a family member the " Ediir " will takecare of all the expenses for the process up to 4- 5 days...All the " Eddir : Members are obligated to come and acompany the person who lost his loved one. If you can not show up you got to send some one in your behalf and should be signed in. to. Approve you attended the service. Mourning is taken very seriously.🙏

almost the same traditions as in Sudan, though the majority are Muslim there but they practice these rituals on the 3rd, 7th and 40th days and till recently they used to sleep on the floor during mourning days
