Thank You so much for this. I've been a CNA for 3 years, got into the Nursing program and I just kept questioning myself and doubting myself if nursing was for me. I'm now switching my career to dental hygiene but I keep hearing such negative things about it until I came across your video. Thank You, so much for this. Honestly, the biggest fear that stops me from becoming a dental hygienist is not being able to find a job. I feel like even if I really love my career, if I can’t find a job, what’s the point? Juliana Friend congrats on getting accepted into the program ! If you have an option not to work I would recommend not working and focusing on school but if you have to then doing a part time job with a reasonable schedule for you will be okay I think , I worked and I know a lot of student who did it to ! The schedule can get hectic tho

breanna hayden I took 2 years of prereqs hoping to get into a dietetic nutrition program, than changed my major to dental hygiene. I know a couple girls that have no prereqs and are in the hygiene program with me. Their acceptance was based off of high school transcripts. So, it’s possible to get into a program with no college credits, but I would suggest you start taking those prereqs now and apply to a few schools while you get to work on those general classes.

I have been a RDH for 6 years, and there are more cons now than pros. I would not recommend, if you like patient care go into nursing... it's hard but at least you will always have job security and stable pay WITH benefits! Unlike dental hygiene!

Hello Tajah, definitely appreciate your Channel. You’ve given me so much insight on the career and I’m glad I found your videos prior to making steps to become a dental hygienist. Understanding that this is a predominantly female populated career, have you or your friends seen any guys whose gone through the process and finished? And if so have they expressed their opinions at all to you on any struggles they’ve had to overcome? It‘s unfortunate there isn’t many guys to look up and have their opinions shared as yours to get a male prospective. It actually inspires me even more to go through with this career and like you, become a person whom others can come to and ask questions. Also at any point during clinicals did you quit your part time job? And if so how far along were you from graduation before making that choice? Thanks, Jamal

Wish you would've touched a little more on the benefits aspect, I have been really looking into hygiene jobs on indeed and craigslist and very few places offer full time, its mostly part time which is kind of off putting because you don't get health care and 401k working part time. Do hygienists just have to marry someone to get health insurance? Seems like the only option unless you wanna pay $300+ a month for ur own.
@Nastassjaferjuste6 жыл бұрын

I have been an RDH for four years now and I have never received health care because full-time jobs that offer it are rare. A few part-time jobs are available in my area and they don't offer benefits.
