Brockwood Park 1983 - Question #2 from Question & Answer Meeting #1
'Is desire something fundamental in human beings? Without desire could we function in this world at all?'
---
This channel is managed by the Krishnamurti Foundation Trust, UK, and by the Krishnamurti Foundation of America.
The role of the foundations was described by Krishnamurti when he said, 'The foundations will see to it that these teachings are kept whole, are not distorted, are not made corrupt. They will not give rise to any sectarian spirit in their activities... nor create any kind of place of worship around the teachings or the person.'
We maintain extensive archives of Krishnamurti's original works and all four Krishnamurti foundations are actively engaged in the publication of material in various forms.
Our videos contain thousands of subtitles in more than 25 languages, translated by volunteers from all over the world. If you would like to help us with translating subtitles, please contact us at digital@kfoundation.org

so called Enlightened or otherwise you will have desire but if you understand the nature of desire, you will watch it arise and then go away just like an ebb and flow of river. It's a cyclical movement and you are part of that movement, so in a way you are that. Tat avam asi.

I must say you should give a fair trial to vipassana meditation course, you will understand very deeply what K is saying, and you will understand this in experiencal level and most important you will know how to eradicate the mental defilement from its roots.

I thought that lady's comment was very pertinent: baby is complete whilst part of the mother. Once born, it searches for the connection with mother, instant and effortless provider of all its needs. Likewise all of us when incarnating and thus becoming separate from the All, which we WERE, now feel the incompleteness and the dissatisfaction. BEING ONE with All was such a complete experience of being, it nourrished us and was infinite. Now incarnated, we seek completeness again. This is the root of desire! It has a pupose though: it is the drive to become ONE with all of the fragmented expressions of the All, thus allowing us to CREATE oneness and BE CONSCIOUS OF IT/ EXPERIENCE IT (something you cannot do if you are not fragmented out of the all, or incarnated). Often though we do not understand the purpose of our desiring and we desire objects that cannot satisfy our real hunger for connection. Love is the glue that binds us all: indulge in love and you will find you mother, and she will provide for all you needs instantly :) Lots and lots of Infinite Love to All

What JK is talking about is that Desire is a thought process and therefore psychological. Mind is trapped in its own illusions. I thinks that's what he meant. Desires are the construct of the mind which is not based on fact and therefore never fulfilling and never ending.

"Love is the glue that binds us all", so is hatred which separates us. Love and hatred are both me. I think mind is trapped in extremes, love and hatred, rich and poor, intelligent and not intelligent. The opposites are the dual nature of the mind and there is always conflict.

The statement may be true but it is not very relevant to understanding the way desire operates in life. We might as well say all problems arise with being born but such a statement is obviously of no value. We are living non babies (i assume) and we have to deal with desire.

We are to distinguish between need and desire. While a need is an absolute necessity, desire is not driven by necessity but by subconscious impulses. Spiritual aspiration is a desire for being desire less

You are asking for the life manuel, my friend. No one has one. This guy is just pointig the movement of unaware desire which is going on, so you could become aware of it. Only that small thing will help you to change your habit, if you don't forget about it until tomorrow. And you will understand the value of life

Why would you want to contact something after seeing it if you weren't already attracted to it? That is, already have a feeling about it which drew you to it? It seems to me that after seeing, you have a feeling which makes you want to contact it, not in the order K presented it.
@AmonWrath

If you are already attracted to something that means thought has captured it in the past , desire is born for it kept in the memory and now seeing the new model iphone its simply strengthening that desire or weakining it as the new model is not suited for me as i hate notch . just top of my mind . let me know what you think of it .

Was Ghandijis pursuit of non violence meaningless?
@shaktikumarlyrics
@shaktikumarlyrics 5 жыл бұрын
It seems that Gandhiji was not pursuing non-violence; he was living non-violence, as he had an insight into the nature of aggresssion and its absurdity.
@johndavid2158
@johndavid2158 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, with all the utopian propaganda of non-violence that everybody must follow Gandhi the icon, else bash them from mainstream, that was violent. Gandhi also couldn't keep his promises. Neither his followers after death. That is violence. Godse was violent but so was Gandhians. People imitating Gandhi, wearing hats, half dhotis, white clothes is only a cover up. Violence is very subtle. Saying only Gandhi represents whole India, not you and me is violent. Gandhi sent Indian Soldiers to first World War. He and his followers could not avoid violence at last. His last act, his death was violent. All these are facts. What's the point of being non violent all your life if you die violently? Don't you think something is a misfit.

Human mind does not like to be still so we like distraction, all the desires are caused by the like to be distracted or not have a still mind :) we like vibration along with physical nature, being still means we will leave the physical dimension we are so comfortable in, which our conscious mind does not want to leave. That's the conflict we have to over come by meditation... To be absolutely STILL
