I'm health conscious and I think it's not healthy because the saline liquid they give you a lady on a video said that's like 20 bags of potato chips each bag and that's insane and I don't eat bad salt I only do pink Hymalayan salt and spring where so this didn't make me look or feel good and so I think its not healthy.

@@DJHYDEHEART If you eat something small before donating and drink tons of water 1 soda takes away 16oz of water from the human body so if you stay hydrated and eat something small fatigue is minimal and eat something after and drink water after. I do not have any pain with my donations but that depends on who inserts the needle. If you feel pinching or pain you must tell someone because that means the needle was not inserted properly for your vein size, width, ect

I'm finding these negative comments/health concerns very interesting. I have low iron (I get turned away fairly often), run 45-50 miles per week and lift weights 4-5 days per week. Donating plasma has had no physical effect on me other than dizziness if I try to do something strenuous within an hour after donating. If you have issues, by all means don't do it, but please don't be scared away by some of the comments. To make $140 for 2-3 hrs of time (BioLife) and help someone out is well worth it on my end.

For people with the least resources, like no car, or enough money for gas to do gig work. Plasma is the most accessible. Most centers are located in areas with public transportation. When I was out of work in 2017/18 I used to get 25 the first donation and 40 the second. However small, that got me on the bus for the classes and a few groceries. I was really struggling. It was a life line for me. Now I do it to allow myself to save my paycheck and use plasma money for flexible spending like food, gas, etc.

You aren’t stuck with one company, you can’t donate at more than one at a time, but when a promotion or bonus payout is done, you can switch to a different company. Companies routinely change up the payout for donations so you have the option to go to a different plasma donation company, you just can’t donate to more than one company at the same time.

I'm 65 yrs old, This was one of my "side hustles" when I was in college in the early 1980's. Did not pay as much then but as someone else said it helps people, it's easy (no hustle), and there is no "overhead" expense on your part. I recommend it. I was never a big person, but if you are...they pay more.

Been donating at biolife for 18 months regularly twice per week. The average weekly payout is ~$120. Currently the payout is $40 for the first weekly donation and $90 for the second. Average donation time is 90 minutes. It's easy money for time spent.

Just started donating its not as easy as you think your iron has to be high as well as protein and be very hydrated. Be a pretty healthy person. Make sure the person doing your needle knows what they are doing first time was good 2nd time the hurt and bruised me bad. When I got back the 3rd time I'm asking for someone who knows what they are doing. They pay $100 up to 4 times than it goes down to $80. I'm doing it for many reason. I have a non profit hello families with tragedies so half goes to the families it's a win win win !! I'm planning on doing it often. I never felt sick or weak but I'm a very healthy person. They pay on a visa bank card. First time it took over 3 hours after that about hours. They don't make it to easy. I’ve been donating for a month now. FYI if you weigh more than 175lbs donating to Grifols. They take a little extra for you. Also a lot of people don’t understand the payout. As of now. It goes you can donate twice a week. No sooner than 48hrs between donations. Your first donation of the month is 40 dollar. The second donation of that week is 70 dollars. This is the pay for the first four donations. On the fifth donation of the month. It will be 40 dollars, with a 50$ bonus. The sixth donation you will receive 70 dollars plus a 50 dollar bonus. The seventh donation you get 40 dollars again with a 50$ bonus. The final donation usually within a month. Your eighth time donating in one month will be 70 dollars with 50 dollar bonus. Each visit usually taking 10-15 minute to check in. And get your vitals and blood levels read. So you will get poked with a small needles. So they can collect a small sample. To see if you are eligible to donate that day. If something doesn’t check out, they will ask you to wait around 15 minutes, so you can try to pass. If not you will be deferred. If you receive to many you can be permanently be deferred. Not allowed to donate after this. So be sure to get a good night rest. Drink enough water so that you are hydrated. Before your appointment eat a nice healthy meal. Staying away from caffeine and alcohol prior and after your donation. Once I’m checked in. It take me around 40 minutes to finish my donation. Depending on how packed the floor is. The disconnect can be instance or at a first done first served basis. Afterwards I walk out and that’s it. Take about 5-15 for the funds to arrive on he card they will give you. He card I have is with Bank of America. If it’s your first time though, be ready to be there for like four hours. You will need to bring with you. A valid i.d, your social security card(to see if you’re on the deferral list) and proof of residency. Very important! They will withdraw some of your blood and send it off to be tested for any pathogens that blood can carry. They will checkout your veins to see if you will be green lite on each arm. Which means anyone one of the workers who’s trained can poke you. They will take your picture with a card in each hand indicated which level your vein is. After you will get a finger scanned. Next you will receive a light physical. Once done it will be like any other donations. Except for you will be marked as a priority. So expect some compliment’s coming. They want to butter you up. So you will return. Even though the ladies at Grifols and few gentlemen are most of the time pleasant. If you keep in mind, they are highly regulated and might seem a bit rude herding people around. Just remember even the places you will sit down and be waiting are audited. Expect the your first time donating to take longer than what you come to expect simply the first time he machine is not at full speed. Once the process is done the machine will send your red blood cells right back into usually the same needle. The sodium stuff put will make you feel cold cause they keep it at room temperature, our body is not room temp so don’t alarm if you now want a blanket with you. So I suggest you bring one with you your first go. Than deciding if it’s cold or not. For me it makes just around my vein cold. I’m a 31 male. 5’6 165lbs. It will vary person to person I’m sure. You will get a weird taste from it also. Think ironing mineral like taste (metallic taste) last for a minute or so. When your all done. Your machine will turn green telling the workers to disconnect you. Directing you to where you receive your debit card. Being a new donor. Your first four donations you get 125 dollars each time if you donate. At the end of the day though, you feel prideful of how you just earn some money. Knowing the people who’s bodies can’t fight for itself. Your plasma will derived many different medicine using the different type of proteins within your plasma. Drink plenty of water. If your a healthy individual before. You will be healthy afterwards especially if your like me. Getting sick is a rarity. I didn’t even get Covid. So I’m lucky in that regard, cause it allows me to have some spare income and feel I’m giving in return. So remember if you want to make it count for something. You need to donate a minimum of two time. Your first donation will go to probably science, while your second donation and thereafter will help people who need it.

Hey, Mike. So funny I should come across this video. I sell my plasma, lets call it what it is, at one of the 3 sites you mentioned. $100 for the first 5 visits as an introductory offer and then $50 for the first visit and then if you donate again in the same week it's $65. There is a reward system and as you mentioned, different tiers. So, $115 per week. Depending on the time of day it can take from 1:20 to 2 hours. If you don't mind needles this is not a bad hustle. I also do a popular delivery service here in the Philly area and being i stick to mornings that is always hit and miss. The plasma is steady income. The folks there are very professional.

It is worth it. A lot of good comes from donating. CSL in a Chicago suburb, is $50 the first time during the week and $65 the second time during the week AFTER the first month with bonuses. Also, it only takes me about an hour to 1½. Timing is everything. I go around 8:45 am and I'm usually out by 10 - 10:15. And everyone won't take the same amount of time because lighter weight people don't donate as much. Hydration is the key to a fast and easy donation.

Please don't let this scare you away. Talk to you Doctor or medical advisor 1st. This is very necessary. I can't do it myself for health reasons. People need plasma. In our City, now they're paying up to $900 1st month for new donors,, and $100 per donation according to friends. Your healthy dogs and cats can also donate the much needed life saving elixir. Unfortunately science hasn't figured out how make plasma, the only way to get it is through kind ❤❤❤ donating.

I've donated at BioLife for 3 different periods of time with a couple breaks between for most of the last 2 years. The first appointment takes much longer since you have to onboard with a physical, longer medical questionaire, etc; but currently, I have 2.5 hours blocked on my calendar for my BioLife times, but that includes my 30-35 minute each way commute to the location, so the actual time from walking in the door to walking out the door at the center is usually ~1.5 hours or less (sometimes longer during more backed up days; I donate at 2:10 PM Monday & Thursday since I'm not working a day job, so if you're going at evening or weekend times maybe it would be busier, although I used to do evenings after work and don't recall it being super different on average). The time spent with a needle in my arm would be less than an hour. I'm very skinny and therefore the amount of plasma they draw from me is presumably lower than average, so the donation time for most people may be slightly longer, I'm not sure, since potentially blood flow speed could be different too. Hot tip for possibly speeding up your donation and generally having a smoother experience: I used to have a very slow donation and the machine would frequently stop, needing adjustments to the speed or needle or whatever to resume; I don't know if this was my veins being skinny and therefore inconsistent or what. But one day an employee offered me a stress ball to squeeze on (it is cut in half, but I think she said that's just because these particular stress balls were pretty tough so that made them easier to squeeze). They do instruct everyone to "pump" your hand, squeezing into a fist repeatedly, during the donation to increase the blood pressure or flow, and I'd often be advised to squeeze harder or faster, but having the squeeze ball apparently helped me get good pressure with ease, I don't even think about it now, just squeeze automatically. Ever since that one simple trick has been dramatic improvement to the smoothness and length of my donation process, rarely have any issues or taking any longer than average, so that may help minimize others' donation times as well. As to pay, when I first started, it was $20 for first donation of the week and then a tiered structure for the second that would top out at $70 once you'd gone for 4 weeks and kept going weekly, but there would also frequently be additional bonuses for going regularly, where it would be something like "for the next 8 donations, get an additional $10 on each of the first 4 then $25 each for the last 4" or just "an additional $100 on your 8th donation completed in the next month" or whatever; after I'd been donating for like 6 months, I just added up that the average pay over that whole time (after the new donor month, so not including that bonus) had been I think about $585/month. Over time, it seemed they gradually increased the base rates while decreasing bonuses. Since I started again 3 months ago after a break, it has been $40/$90 (or even $40/$100 for the last couple weeks, we'll see if that lasts as a new rate or is just short-term holiday bonus) but it seems like no frequency bonuses, so the pay is more consistent now especially if you regularly skip a week or whatever. Even so, at the rate of $40/$90-100, that still works out to $565.5-$609/month, consistent with my average rate when I started 3 years ago under the different pay/bonus structure. (Note that there are actually an average of 4.35 weeks per month, so for example ($40+$90) * 4.35 = $565.5.) So probably regardless of how that exact pay structure might change, you could estimate ~$585/month; with ~13-17 hours per month in the center itself (3-4 hours per week * 4.35, add in your own commute times) is easily $35-45/hour without commute. There is also, however, besides the new donor bonus, a returning donor bonus, which is similar in being a much higher rate for one month (well, technically 4 weeks or 8 donations) for donors who have not donated for a while. They don't advertise this as much or tell you exactly how it works as far as I can tell. But in my experience, as I said over the last 3 years I'm now on my 3rd period where I donate for several months or more and then have taken 2 breaks for a few months, and both times I got the notification of returning donor bonus after about only 2 months away. The amounts both times were in the $800 range (while the new donor bonuses at the time were $900 or $1,000). I don't know if the ~2-month break window is a consistent policy or like if it could change based on how long you were donating, or if it's like max 1 return bonus per 6 months, or anything like that, but assuming that you could just do 1 month on return bonus then break for 2 months until next return bonus and so on and so forth, that could be a good way to just give yourself a quarterly bonus on substantially higher than $25/hour rate while letting your veins rest most of the time. That's what I plan on trying out once I can get started on like food/grocery delivery or some other income stream that is sufficient to cover my monthly expenses. I haven't researched to see if probably someone else knows the exact return bonus policy scheme (or maybe it's actually in small print somewhere on the company's site).

I have been a Biolife donor for 5 years. Obviously it has been worth it for me but for some who are not a fan of needles no. You have to prepare yourself by eating properly and being hydrated. Your hematocrit and protein levels are checked everytime and have to meet their criteria. As far as the time it verifies depending on how busy they are. Sometimes there are lines which which makes it take longer and you have to have an appointment.

If you decide to do this make sure to confirm they give saline afterwards. I was a regular donor and went to a new facility not knowing they didn’t give saline afterwards. I stood up, walked to the pay window and blacked out. I woke up with a pillow under my head, and people standing over me with a cup of orange juice. If you are healthy and need to do it short term for money it’s ok but I wouldn’t do it long term.

I just started plasma donations with grifols. It's definitely worth it! I do all the other side hustles and after the initial visit it is by far the most per hour sode hustle without a passenger worthy car. I made $250 my first week and I'm make $115 a week after. If say it averages to about $23/hr. A huge downfall is your health. For example I went once and my blood pressure was too high, so I couldn't donate. My first time I threw up... There are many criteria for successful donation.

I've recently started donations at my local plasma clinic. I don't drive, I work from home, and I'm generally healthy, so it's a quick and convenient way to get a little extra money. The first visit with all the health screening questions took FOREVER, but once you're in the system it's pretty quick. The donation itself is maybe twenty or thirty minutes. The rest of the time is waiting for a clear bed, which can take an hour if they're busy or be pretty much instant if you're not at a peak hour.

Back in the early '90s, I did this for a whole year. I ran out of money my senior yr of college (room, board and tuition already paid for but only needed spending cash for basic hygiene supplies, haircuts, etc). It was $10 for 1st, $15 for 2nd for a total of $25 per wk. That got me through my senior year albeit somewhat in poverty mode. I still have a tiny visible scar on my right arm. It's not a big deal. The donation helped people and I got some extra spending cash. It was a win-win. I'm a little creeped out by the idea of having your blood cells circulating through their machinery and then put back into your body. It didn't bother me so much back in the '90s but it kinda does bother me now. I might consider doing it even just for the bonus month alone; make a cool $1,000 and then let it go. I'll have to think about it.

Excellent Questions' So Far I have donated to CSL Plasma, once my Compensation drops below $25 per hour [2+ hrs per day] I switch to Memorial Herman Cancer Center for no charge... have to make 6 months to get back to the $100 per session mark at CSL, you can cross as long as you allow 2 weeks between donation locations/Programs. My thinking is now max out at each locations Compensation $100 per visit (depending) and stop when it gets too low, wait 2 weeks and go to the next of the three, and same wait for 2 weeks for the 3rd place... then donate for fun to the cancer centers until the 1st one resets @ 6 months back to first time donor pricing... then restart the cycle (when waiting for the 1st donation company to reset I give to the local cancer center, use your blood (Red Cells, Plateletts, and Plasma] for cancer patients, no pay but t-shirts and goodies for donations, just to wait for the pay cycle to restart.

I just started donating 2 days ago my ear and violin. It's literally time hits at the street to drive, 750 bonus for that location over the 8 donation period. First one took a little less than 3 hours since they have an air visible and everything, but after that people that were returning donors said that normally it takes them about an hour to an hour and a half to get done depending on how busy it is. For me during the bonus. I believe it's definitely worth it, my buddy has been doing it for a while and gets 140 bucks a week here in San Diego, CA. Needles don't bother me and honestly I just watch KZbin or anime while the procedure is happening and time flies by which I would be doing at home after I get off of work anyway. So why not get paid for it twice a week?

First of all, calling the donation of one's plasma, a potential life saving serum, a "side-hustle" is a bit insulting. Yes, it is nice to get that compensation, but not everyone is doing it for just that reason. That being said, yes, it is worth it to donate plasma on a regular basis if you're able to do so.

I did this one years ago when I was in college, and at that time you could donate twice per week but if for some reason they are not able to return your red blood cells back to you after separating out the plasma you had to wait some number of weeks for your body to replenish those cells. The time it takes depends on how busy they are and how fast you are bleeding on the day. The HUGE downside is that with needles being stuck in your veins twice a week for a couple hours at a time there is scarring. I did this in the 80's while going to college and I still have the scars from it. If you are not turned off by the scars it is an easy money source where you just sit there watching movies or reading while doing it and you are helping people and at that time they would occasionally have special promos for existing donators. I will say at the time I did this it was worth it but I have not been tempted to go back and do it since.

On your first visit it will easily take 4 -5 hours because you have to go through a screening, returning donors are fast, but you have to do a screening annually and then if you don't have at least 1 donation every 4 months you have to get rescreened with grifols, been donating for almost a year now

I've donated plasma at CSL 59 times. At this point I had to stop because my protein levels would not come up to standards. All and all I enjoyed the $100 a week that I could make by donating. Helping people who need plasma is a big plus. I usually get $45 the first weekly visit and $60 the second visit. Normal time sitting for the donation is about 40 minutes, sometimes faster if you're hydrated. I think it is definitely worth it.

I have donated in the past years ago. I'm so greatful that I did. Bc years later my cousin was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called ttp and need plasma treatments 2 times a week. If it were for ppl taking their time to donate incentive or not my cousin would not be here today. SAVING A LIFE IS ALWAY WORTH IT. ALSO THE PLASMA GOES THRU EXTENSIVE TESTINT. the person donating has to get their blood pressure, sugar, creatine level, heart rate, o2, arms checked for scaring from needles n stuff and also nee tattoos i. 2yrs checked every time donating. The 1st time u have to go thru a whole physical.

I somewhat a new donor at Grifols plasma in Birmingham Alabama. Ive done it between 7-8 times. If your a new donor you get $125 for your first two times and $100 the two times after. After those 4 times. You can only do it 2 times a week. The first time you go for the week its $50 and $75 the second. I recommend you take iron pills and drink water.

These places worry me. The ones near me (Milwaukee) encourage you to, and in fact pay better if, you come in 4+ times a month, however every medical professional I've talked to has told me that it could be problematic (at best) donating that regularly. Be carefull and listen to you body when donating y'all.

There’s a difference between blood and plasma donation. Blood is blood taken out, and people need a few weeks/30 days to replenish. When plasma is harvested, it’s removed from blood, and the white and red blood cells are then put back into your body. There’s a much shorter recovery of 2-3 days. Perhaps the people to whom you spoke didn’t know about plasma donation, or were thinking blood donation protocols.

Donating has never taken me over 80 minutes. Usually 45-50. I go to Octapharma because they pay more than BIomat and CSL. If you weigh 175+ they used to pay $75, now its $65. The time is dependent on if you know if you're gonna be in a line. If you figure out the slowest times to go and essentially eliminate the wait in line, you can potentially make $50+/hr depending on your weight.

Locally in central CA various plasma centers advertise new donors will make $500, up to $900 the first month. Regular donors get paid $50-$75 per donation if you donate regularly. Also, you can become a new donor and get their high first month payments, then wait at least 7 days and go to another Plasma Company and become a new donor and get their high new donor payments for the first month. I'd call and ask first, be up front and tell them you donated at this other Plasma Center, is it ok to wait 7 days and become a new donor with the new company now? Don't lie there is no need to. If you need money this is a great way to make some extra money and it helps a lot of people. The 'intake' at each of these places is much longer the first visit as explained elsewhere. Once that is over it takes generally 15-60 minutes intake each visit, depends how busy they are, and usually 45-60 minutes to do the donation. If your blood flows easily you can get done sooner. They have pretty strict rules by law as it is bodily fluids so they operate very professionally.

Prior to me starting DD in Sep of 2021 - I went to CSL Plasma Sep 2021-Oct 2021 and got paid $1100 as a new donor. But each time I went it seemed to keep getting busier and busier with new donors. By the time I finished my new donor month, they lowered the monthly fee to $500. So I was happier than a jack rabbit that I got in before that happened. As a renewal donor the pay is $30-$50 per donation. I haven't donated since Oct 2021. But at the time it was a pleasant experience for me. My blood flows fast so it would only take me about 1.5 hrs to get through the donation process. You have to drink lots of water starting the day before and morning before you donate. That's the key to not passing out during the process.

I've been donating at Biomat/Grifols for 3 years. I'm back at the Western Avenue location, near you on the North Side. Get compensated to hang out and watch tv or play on your phone for an hour and a half? 👍👍 Once you get past the first couple of lengthy visits, it's a breeze. Plus, the annual medical exam is more thorough than the annual physical at my pcp. 🤣

I’ve been donating at CSL in Lexington Ky since August 22& I haven’t had any issues and it only takes me 35 minutes tops to donate and I’m up and out in under an hour unless they’re short staffed and also busy it’ll take a few more extra minutes before they can get you off the machine but even then it works for me and I do go twice a week.

I do it in MD, and it takes a hour tops and your pay varies. I guess it varies from state to state. But it's pretty easy thing to do (and I hate needles) but u need extra money i would recommend it... It helped me with Xmas for my kids, but I get everyone is different so to each their own!!!!!!!

If you are under the promotion period, it's definitely worth it! But after that, not so much. I have donated at a few different centers, it's not bad when it actually only takes 1.5 hours, but that's not always the case. Some centers run faster than others, but they all have speed bumps. And when that happens, expect to be there for 3 or 4 hours. Maybe it's different for others, but I have to make sure to hydrate thoroughly the day before, and that can be a pain. Hydration isn't a bad thing, let me be clear, but I would leave a pint glass near every sink in my home and chug a pint every time I remembered to do so. Water in, well.... excessive bathroom trips are the norm. It's hard to combine with any driving gig, because to stay properly hydrated, you have to stop every half hour or 45 minutes to pee. Inconvenient. If you aren't properly hydrated, or eat too many salty snacks, then they have trouble finding the vein, and they have to literally dig the needle around in your arm, not a good time. Then the next time you go, they complain about the bruising they caused, and may not allow you to donate because of that. Sure you can go home and ice it to reduce that, but combined with all the other hassles I mentioned, it's not worth it for around $100 per week. You can, however, switch places you go to, get the new donor bonuses all over again, rinse repeat. After 6 months, you can qualify for new donor bonuses all over again, so it's best to rotate centers if you really want to make this side hustle worth it

How long it takes depends on how much you weigh I am 145 pounds so I only donate 625ml it takes about 40 minutes. At 150 you donate 750ml and it takes about an hour the most you can donate is 800ml which is everyone over 165 I think. Have my new donor bonus I get 40 on fist and 80 on second donation each week not bad for less than 2 hours on sitting in a recliner.

I went once to donate recently about two weeks ago. The first day I went by the time I was seen I hadn’t eaten enough to donate so I went back the next day. Everything went fine until the last part of donating. I was around 98% filled and that is when I began to feel really dizzy, I began to black out and everything got blurry. My ears began ringing and everything was beginning to fade out. I started vomiting everywhere. That was the scariest experience I have ever had. However, it does save lives and the staff there was really quick to take care of me and showed great concern to make sure I was ok before leaving. I got paid $80 and an extra $20 for actually going back the second day since I was turned around. I would say it’s a great way to save a life and earn a little extra cash while doing it BUT I personally was too chicken to go back and do it again. I have donated plasma. it's something you have to keep doing in order to get money and it's not like you don't get rich off of it. CSL plasma is about a half hour away from me so I still have to drive the biolife plasma is 2 hours away from me so that is definitely not worth it for me. And I do have a full-time job so I can't just go donate plasma whenever it's necessary. I've been denied donating plasma because my blood pressure was not up to their standards

However, if one is in a disability case, depending on the medications you are required to take, you might not be eligible. They ask you a all the questions in the book to see if you're able to donate. Some questions are the ice breaker, you could say"no" to them all but if there's that one"yes" you're not allowed. You can put"not sure" and talk with a nurse there though. As far as blood type, they don't e even care about it nor test to see what yours is. It's only the plasma that's valuable even if you donate blood at places, you don't get compensated. They only pay you for plasma!

I've been donating twice weeking since Dec. 2023. It's a 35 minute drive one way and takes about 3 hours total to donate and get home. I almost pass out quite often. I've gotten hematoma, sore arms, etc. I still go back and donate twice weekly because, to me, it's still worth it. I've got hematomas on both arms right now because I just donated today. I dont make big bucks from this. My facility for 3 hrs out of my day is $40 to $70 each time. It fluctuates and goes down quite frequently.

YES!! It is TOTALLY worth it! It a very simple process and I've never had to spend more than 40 minutes actually donating. QUICK TIPS FOR ALL: I have successfully donated at more than one center just not duting the same period. Octapharm only asked if I had donated at another center in the last 7 days and I enjoyed their introduction promo period. VERY VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW: BE VERY CAREFUL WHO YOU REFFER AND OR WITH YOUR ADDRESS!!! I know a long time donor who recommended his best friend for the bonus and he allowed her to use his address only to discover she had a virus they were unaware of AND NOT ONLY DID THEY NOT GIVE HIM THE BONUS, THEY BANNED HIM FOR A YEAR BECAUSE HE IS NOW A "HIGH RISK" DONOR.
