@@pez6905 Not a fair comparison since Xenoverse is literally designed to keep you coming back with new rifts, challenges, raids and MMO RPG things to keep the game replayable. Try playing Day 1 Xenoverse and it's not that replayable due too lack of content back then. Also Sparking Zero isn't a game you want to play everyday, it's a fun game to play once and a while but not one you want to play every day.

Everyone really thought that this game would be anime game of the year just off of it being a fighting game that has the dragon ball title so many people preordered it without even waiting for the game to release and that’s why Bandai got all that money

I wouldnt say its dying but the honeymoon phase is over and folks are realizing there’s not a lot to do. Its a shame that everytime you bring this up, the hardcore fanboys who will eat up whatever theyre served try to hush you, but its true. Its either ranked, which is flat out unenjoyable, or lobby matches that take forever. There’s legit not even a standard quick match feature that would make the game more enjoyable online. There’s nothing to do offline but custom battles and episode battles that most players have done already. The game looks pretty, but its almost entirely flash and very little substance as it currently stands. Hopefully in due time, this changes. As for right now though, I hop on, play a couple, then do something else.

This game is dead. No content. Short story. dragon ball wishes are only good for titles. Like bruh. After you get the titles, dragon balls are useless. to think this game is good, YOU ARE DELUSIONAL. NOT ENOUGH CUSTOMIZATIONS OR MAPS. It is just trash.

@@johnyyyboyboy This I can agree with w/ the customization and maps. Dragon Balls feels like it should’ve been a one and done type of thing between the 3 dragons. Dragon balls should’ve been really hard to obtain; or scattered randomly in maps like the older games. Shenron = 1 Million Zeni (Zeni should’ve been for items only and some titles) Porunga = Some Alternative Costumes Super Shenron = Characters only unlockable by this method

I think the issue is that people don't understand 1) Like you said fighting games are 1v1. 7000 people in a match is 3500 matches (If you assume everyone is playing online matches). If this were Overmid 2 with 5 people per team (I know they just bumped it back up to 6 but I'm using this niumber to skew it into OW's favor) you need 35,000 people. 2) These are average numbers for most fighting games, especially FGs that aren't Street Fighter. By the logic people are using, Tekken 8 is dead lmao. 3) Most games, even popular ones with online multiplayer, see drop offs like this after the first week or so. It's how video games work. EDIT: Also I'm pretty sure most people bought this on console anyways. The average person is playing this shit after coming home from work on a big TV not their PC.

Xeno2 was GOATED back in the day. Creating your character, getting new skills, etc etc was SOOOO cool. I really wish they'd make a 3rd. I agree about casual q. Very much needed. I thought the story mode was cool. It gave me trouble until I found out about sparking mode lol. After that it's easy. Going back, I wouldn't need it now I've practiced the game. Recently hit Z and practice on super difficulty between matches. But a new player might not want to grind until they're good, or use sparking to cheese the story. The game has some issues, but I really hope they're addressed soon! I love the game to death and hope it's relevant for a few years to come

Alot of us knew this was gon happen. This game is all flashy but no substance,players will keep dropping until the actual true arena warriors remain. Alot of people are only playing the story and not ranked, once they play out all the what if scenarios they'll most likely also drop it. This game was not built for mass ranked audience, imagine having to play the only 5 or 6 viable characters for the rest of this games life span☠️, ofcourse people will start dipping out.Remember when this game droppped and they said it had the potential to take down Sf and tekken? 😂.

This guy will still tell people to shut up when the 24 hour player base drops to 8k then 5k. This game is just that bad once the honeymoon phase ends players will realize this game is boring. I mean every ranked fight is 80% vanishing ambush until someone runs out of ki. They need to make vanishing counters cost more ki. This game will continue to lose players the single player content is just bad the story mode or episode’s is not fun to play through at all. Game barely have cutscenes. You would think Goku going super saiyan for the first time would have an amazing cut scene but nope it’s just still images. Plus single player battles difficulty super is pretty much just easy. They need to make hard and super difficult a lot harder. Some story episodes have harder AI than the single player battle hard/super AI. This game only haves it graphics going for it everything else is just dog water. Now people are on a lot of cope. Saying “shut up the game is not dying this game was always a casual couch game” but when the game was about to come out they were saying “ this will be the best fighting game ever” no it’s not. Game is bare bones.

Also a lot of those what if story mode makes no difference in the story like in piccolo’s episode where u train gohan in the chamber where u choose to train his mind or w.e so his power don’t get to his head like it did in the canon show cell still haves time to blow himself up and take Goku with him. Plus why doesn’t Vegeta episodes go into dbs? Plus why does Gohan episodes start at cell? These story episodes were rushed. I mean they forgot to add base form garlic jr and caulifa super saiyan form. Also they took out kid goku’s great ape form. Plus I hear they gonna sell you people outfits that should be in the game like teen gohan’s Goku outfit from the bojack movie. I mean they gave us bojack but not the outfit gohan wears in the movie? Can u say greedy?

Thank you for adding context to the clickbait we are seeing online. There is disingenuous conversation surrounding this game and fighting games in general, calling them "flops" when player retention dips. Fighting games are a popular genre, but they are still considered niche and tend to only retain die-hard fans or competitive players as their base. This is not factoring in the habits of players who move on from games after they complete the campaign or single player content - the numbers we see for DBSZ on Steam are fine.

the gameplay looks ps2/ps3 era, which was strange to me considering how contemporary and industry leading the designs for the recent hit dbz games have been. i love dbz-this game reminds me of a rail shooter and not in a fun way.

Cause it was literally designed like that, guess what console Budokai Tenkaichi series was in, the PS2. Literally was advertised to be a replica of said era and it does that job well, that's why Sparking Zero is a fun and good Dragon Ball experience for Dragon Ball fans of the PS2 era and not really meant for more modern gamers or people with expectations like FighterZ or Kakarot.

I am copying and pasting a comment of mine because it is too long to rewrite everything This calls for a big comment, I will separate it in different points, oh and Mr. PS4 will be brought up often since he has a giant echo camber, if he says something, a lot of people will say the same All of this comes from a junior game developer and a intermediate programmer, oh, I am Italian, my english can bug out, if I do some mistakes, tell me, thanks! 1) Game is not fun, no skill: It is subjective until a certain point, the main attacking point is "it's all square square square triangle square", welcome to fighting games, it's is literally like this, ever played Street Fighters 2? No? That came was bugged and cutted the endlag, this is how combos have been born, and it was a cabinate game, how many button do you have on a cabinate game? 3 usually, that's haven't changed much, then you have to learn the logistic of the games, XV2 doesn't play like FIghterZ, and FighterZ doesn't play like SZ, and SZ in not like a Mortal Kombat or a Street Fighter and so on, you need to learn the game. 2) Game is unbalanced: It's been like this since BT1, but cheesers and broken stuff must be patched, I say so myself, GT Goku on FighterZ was not OP, he was broken because he was literally untouchable, he got patched, he is really strong still, but not broken, Yajirobe was broken, now he is "just" really good, patching a game is no easy task, mind you 3) There is no offline content: I must be honest, I have no problem with the offline material, I love the custom battle implementation, but people never bring it up, NEVER, can they put something more later down the line? Of course, FighterZ, Kakaroth and XV2 did it, this game will also 4) XV2 is better and has more content: Are you seriously saying that an 8 Years old game with 300 euros of DLC has more content than a month old game? Wow, what a surprise, Vanilla XV2 is not so content filled also, same for FighterZ, Kakaroth is a single player experience 5) The story mode sucks: This is a 40 years old manga, I think we all know the story nowdays, the Episode Sparking are the SAUCE, not the normal story mode 6) Bugs: It's normal, unfortunately, believe me , we hate bugs, but they are inevitable, the bigger the game, the buggier it is, QA testing is not enough something, the devs do not play the game like we do, and there are not so many QA tester, there are 10, max 20, we are 3 millions, it's obvious we will find more bugs, it's statistics 7) The cheese: Again, developers do not play the game like we do, we search for cheese, they don't because they play the game "as it is supposed to be" 8) No patches: We got a patch not too long ago, the longer the time for a new patch, the more errors are going to be resolved, and careful, new patches will bring new bugs, it's a constant 9) "I regret buying the game because Mr. PS4 said so": Brother, do not let others say how you should enjoy a game, a lot of people wants to see this game fails and I do not understand why, it's assonine 10) The fall off: It's normal, every game will lose playes, Counter Strike, the biggest Steam game has 600K players, a lot of players, The peak was 1.8M, the game lost 800K playes, EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSANDS, but is the game dead? No Is SZ dead? No, a real dead game is a game that has 2 - 3 people online the whole time, that is a real dead game, even Multiversus is not dead, but it is not in an healthy status, and SZ is not Steam exclusive, I play it on Steam, but many more people are playing it on PS5 or Xbox, especially PS5, it's a nostalgia factor, a good one, nostalgia doesn't equal to bad 11) Rage quitters and sweaters: We must wait for the patch, people are opportunistic, Mr. PS4 is a big example, he is not good at the game, he rage quits and he sweats a lot on XV2, these people are not fun to fight against, but this is not 2008 anymore, we have big youtubers, Reddit and Discord servers that creates fun and engaging Tournaments for all 12) Mr. PS4: Do not listen to him, not because he hates the game, but because he brings nothing to the table, valid feedbacks and valid criticism are always well accepted, if you have something to tell the devs that will improve the game, do it! There is an E-mail Address just for that, it is important to help the devs help us, we game programmers are always ready to see where we can improve everything, just do not listen to him, especially do not fo to him to say "You were right all along", "You were telling us the truth", "You are the Messiah", he called us slurs and names for an year straight and now you are going after him? Are you all imbeciles? Never EVER feed the ego of a narcissist, especially a racist, pedophilic narcissist, it's not only stupid, but extremey dangerous People, Sparking Zero is a really good game with lots of passion and lots of challenges, it's not easy task making a game like this, and content will come, Quality of Life changes will come and I am sure we will recieve Free Content, do not let sweaters, cheesers, cheaters, hateful youtubers or whining people ruin your enjoyment of a game, and it is totally fine to play another game other than Sparking Zero, you can play as many DB games as you want, you can even play SZ and BT3 at the same time, we are not here to race against another game, we are here to have fun, the E-Sports scene corrupted the online scene a lot, not all games are competitive as hell, FIghterZ is, XV2 and SZ are not, and that's fine, videogames are games first, competitions second, not the contrary Have fun everyone, I will edit this comment if needed, I will put more points also, I will write what is edited and what is not

Nowadays people jumps from to game more easily because of many factors. And fighting games are a niche genere too, plus this being an arena fighter ads for even less playerbase. BUT this is dbz so it will always have players to match with 😅

@ryanturney672 you do realize that most games that aren't popular genres has this happen all the time? Only fps games retain numbers. Fighting games always have a massive drop off. Doesn't mean it's dying, there's just not much else to do in this game.
