Often overlooked is that Skull Bash is also a gap closer. It has a small charge component. If you don’t have Cat Leap up, this can be an excellent movement alternative.

cata classic is not only one of the most fun pvp expansions (with the addition of twin peaks as a bonus) but it allows us who are adults and responsible to be able to easily get in and out of the game without having to grind like nails on a chalkboard to get fully geared in pvp

Even for players with a lot of time on their hand, Cata's PvP gearing revamp made gearing up for PvP and doing BGs just 10x more fun. I have very fond memories just leveling classes and progressing my honor PvP gear through BGs when I was younger with a ton of free time. WotLK's PvP gearing is by far its worst aspect of PvP. I bet you PvP would've been way more active in WotLK had they simplified PvP gearing to only be honor gear and arena gear, not this weird honor gear, honor+arena, and arena gear system. It's convoluted and lame. Also having gear be locked behind rating was just such a dumb system as well. All it does is make climbing up the arena ladder exponentionally difficult. You not only have to beat players who have more experience than you, but you also have to beat them while they have gear you can't even obtain yet.

@@mugiwara27 precisely. Your pvp gear will be better in any pvp situation anyway. The weapons and trinkets give more resilience that can more than make up for a heroic weapon or trink

I’m looking forward to the Hunter and Deathknight changes video! I have a ton of experience playing both in Cata through Legion and I can honestly say that both classes got better overall in Cata while peaking in MoP and Legion. MoP survival/bm hunter and Legion Unholy DK is some of my favorite gameplay to this day. 2H Frost DK in the early tiers of MoP was pretty epic too.

Nice video Scott again! Here is my experience as long time cataclysm druid on P-servers so on official it may be different - Feral is together with Blood DK best tank in Cata so you will see 90% of Ferals playing tanks, as Feral DPS you are ok but thats all... mid tier. Balance druids are beasts in multitarget encounters and perform relatively ok in single target. If you like big owls and a lot of numbers flying all over your screen and for some reason u dont like mage, balance is the way to go. However in PVP Feral is top dog, feral druid can 1v1 any melee class in game with not much problems, thanks to OP bleed dmg and instant snares / cyclones and mobility. They struggle a bit vs ranged classes. But for BGs u want to play balance druid, i would say that the best of the best BG class/spec is balance druid. You just DOT everyone, pop starfall and watch everyone around you melt with huge numbers flying here and there. Feral in BGs is flag carrier with massive outplay potential... thanks to OP bear resistances and regen u are able to hold 2-4 ppl dming you and survive longer then 30 sec... insane

Cataclysm is all-around an awesome expac for both PvE and PvP. Heroic Dungeons were harder than TBC and didn’t reward epics like Wrath. Class balancing and gameplay just got better after Wrath. I would say that Legion is my favorite expansion but MoP has the best raids and class balance. Cataclysm has by far the epic dungeons for any one expansion while still feeling like a Classic expansion.

@@andromidiusDragon Soul was a lot worse in retail because it went on for 10 months. If you can get past most of the bosses being re-skins, it had some pretty epic fights and badass loot. I don’t even mind LFR either. I think it’s been an overall positive mechanic for retail over the years and gets casual players into the raids. If they hadn’t put tier sets in LFR, it could have just been ignored by most people.

The reality is most people get burned out of WoW regardless of when they start after a couple years. Vanilla and TBC players were bound to leave, and Wrathbabies weren't used to using any sort of thinking in Heroics. Bad expansion for player numbers in its time, but good when it comes to tangible game design.

as far as i remember for boomie aoe in cata, its just about multidoting and starfall, mushrooms and hurricane are a dps loss (unless ofcourse theres X number of targets thats probably a double digit number, but i guess we will figure that out when cata classic hits)

Actually, it changes depending on how you run it... there are several ways to run your boomie with different glyph options. =) Hurricane does kind of suck though in Cata and MoP. =(

Going from playing boomy on a wotlk pserver to playing it on a mop pserver was such a rude awakening. ST felt 100% more fun. Cleave fights also feel 10x better. AoE feels 1000x worse, though :(

Do wonder if Bearweaving will be a thing, mainly ofc bear hits like a truck, but the Pulverize synergy. Getting 15% crit for 18sec (Unless you cant stack up 5 lacerates in Cata?). Also getting the 30% haste from bear charge vs cat ravage seems like more gains ?

They nerfed powershift breaking roots in 4.2 or 4.3 which really capped how high they can climb in arena, as they get destroyed by wizard cleaves.

Can someone explain the raid loot system in cata for me? I tried looking it up and it seemed like both 10m and 25m drop the same loot with the same ilvl. So is it possible to run only 10m and get your bis? And does 10m and 25m share lockout if this is the case?

Same loot table. No They dont share lock out since ur locked on boss progression and not instance as a whole. 25m drops more pieces than 10m. We are allready trying to stomp down a solid 10m team for cata since we then Can avoid 25m rosters completely.

@@kaizersmoeller Thanks, that sounds perfect. A tight knit 10m roster sounds infinitely more appealing after having dealt with roster issues in both 25m and 40m. With proper content pacing, cata sounds like a step up despite all the nostalgics calling wrath the last good xpac.

But i cant join a raid where u have killed a boss and the grp Havnt. The other u talk about Yea is boss by boss personale raid lockout. But that came in mist with thunder raid ?

Another really good change for Rdruids (And healing in general) is that HoTs (Healing over time effects) can finally crit. Being a HoT healer sucked before Cataclysm, after that, Blizzard realized that the only class without the ability to crit was Resto Druid, so there you go. An AMAZING quality of life change.

My main problem currently with Druid is... there are three of us in my ten man casual raid group. And while we're doing fine the "Gamer" in me feels like its not optimal, especially when the Feral tank is offspecing as Boomie (which I play as main). I know he's probably not switching. Neither will the Resto Druid. So that leaves me. And there's no problems with me continuing as the chicken, I just feel like maybe I should play something else to be "more useful". And the second problem is... I don't know what that could be other then Hunter, which is my other main in my 25 man semi-hardcore guild. We have a Shadow Priest, more tanks then we actually need, a Holy Paladin, two Warlocks, a Mage, a Rogue, a Shaman... We don't need tanks or healers or melee. So ultimately... Boomie really is my only choice, right? And that feels weird.

That just means you are free to pick anything. If the optimizer in you is screamming then look at what armor type or tier token set is most likely to go to waste and optimize for loot distribution instead if all roles and buffs are covered

Cata feels far too easy. Tanks heal as much as healers. There is no risk involved. Just smashing buttons and crushing everything. With zero risks, zero rewarding experience
