Another great breakdown. My gut feeling is that we are still feeling the last of the push from the atmospheric side of the last El Nino(something you alluded to last year), and once spring comes around La Nina is going to assert its influence in a big way. Also I am starting to see a correlation between the positive SOI and good surf in my neck of the woods, basically high pressure to the west allows a favorable track, pressure gradient, and less obstruction of the swells on their long journey here. I have always been amazed at how much energy gets here from crazy long distances, anywhere from 4,000 to 7,000 miles on average. Storms I used to write off I now keep close eyes on. Thanks so much Sivdog for you analysis! It's always a breath of fresh air. And yes, for sure I agree that we're still getting a little push from last winters El Nino. Guess we'll see how far we fall down the La Nina hole now. And stoked you're getting good surf from super long distance swells. Aloha Mark, great forecast today. I really appreciate it. I can’t believe how the jetstream is acting. It’s consolidated all across the Pacific, this is really great. Weird weather happening in the Texas Hill Country. It’s been very warm and humid. Usually it’s cool and dry this time of year. Yet it still doesn’t rain. Drought persits and lakes are drying up.

Hi Ruby - thanks so much for the report. Seems like it's been years since you've gotten a decent wet pattern. And a big ridge persists over the interior Southwest US. Yes, California will get rain, but it just doesn't penetrate anywhere past Nevada. We really need a major pattern change, like a change in the PDO, and hopefully soon. Thanks again.

It's been dry in South Africa and hot heatwave after heatwave and but the Cape still gets small coldfronts it's the weirdest weather but very much the same as 2018 ,thx for the gr8 work .I like it la Nada 😂
