I’m a Packers fan from Wisconsin and agree NFL was so different when Bart Starr played. Two SB MVPs aside, he did win 1966 regular season MVP honors. Led the league in completion percentage and QB rating four times, yards per reception and low interception rate three times. A player who has iconic moments… if not arguably the most iconic moment in the sport. A gentleman off the field his entire life who played with fire and grit while on it. I’m sure humble Bart would be amazed to be in the conversation more than 50 years later and would still credit Coach Lombardi for team and individual success.

That's subjective. You can say you think he wasn't one of the best QBs in the NFL but that's an opinion not a fact. Both Super Bowl runs he ran into the NFL MVP on the team with the best record and left with the W. Outplayed 15-1 Aaron Rodgers in Lambeau and 18-0 Tom Brady in the Super Bowl. That matters when you talk QBs. If Eli Smith was 1 of 6 players in NFL history with multiple Super Bowl MVPs he's going to the HOF.

The NFL is entertainment. Each season has many stories, and stories get remembered. Eli was the driver of one of the greatest stories, and greatest plays, in NFL history. People will remember the helmet catch more they remember half of Brady's Super-Bowls. The 2007 team was the ultimate Cinderella team. Barely got into the playoffs, and had a memorable game against the 15-0 Patriots, almost serving them their first loss of the year. In the playoffs they beat the Cowboys, a team who had already beat them twice that season. Then in the NFC championship game, they went to Green Bay, who had never lost a championship game at Lambeau. And they beat them. Finally they played an undefeated team, and beat them. For that run alone, Eli should be in the Hall. Then in 2011, he did it again. He never got hurt, was always positive, and made receivers better than they were. Maybe not a First ballot guy, but certainly not a 1st floor HOF.

Eli is tricky. He has some great career stats, and then some average ones. He had two magical playoff runs, with two incredible throws and catches and comeback wins. Was his defense really good to great during those runs? Yes. So were the 85 Bears, 49ers, and Redskins defenses. Heck, for years and years we said Brady was carried by his defense. I believe one of the points of the HoF is to tell the story of the game, and you can't tell the story of the last 25 years without the Patriots. Two of the greatest throws in the sport's history, a part of arguably the best play in the sport's history, and when he retired, he was top ten in several major passing stats. He's also the statistical leader in a historical franchise like the Giants and a two-time SB MVP. Personally, I think QBs get too much credit and too much blame in team success, including SBs. However, since it seems like SB or bust is how a lot of people view QBs, in this case, Eli is in the former category than the latter.

Over 57,000 yards, 366 TDs, 210 straight starts, 2 SBS, 2 SB MVPs, over 30 4th quarter comebacks, in the playoffs he beat Romo, Brett Farve, Matt Ryan, Aaron Rodgers, Colin Kapernick (when he was cooking) all on the road and beat Tom Brady 2x. Thats a hell of a resume if you ask me. Definitely a HOFamer, should be first ballot.

No he is not and not a Hall of Fame player period. In what season did he win an MVP when was he a feared QB putting up great record breaking numbers. He never was he was an Above Average QB for his Career who won 2 SB a reminder Bruce Johnson, Trent Dilfer, Joe Flacco all won SB as well. If Eli is an HOF then just go ahead and put in Ryan Leaf and Jamarcus Russell cause you should just let any player who touched a field in.

Eli never got credit from the media. If Eli had a silver tongue people would love him. From 2008 thru 2012, Eli played dominant football at an elite level. Never got any respect back then either. He literally carried the Giants throughout the 2011 season with an injured defense and a porous offensive line. He put up huge numbers in 2014 and 2015. He would have had another playoff run in 2016 had Odell Bekham and the rest of the Boat Crew not dropped every single pass thrown at them. Edit: speaking of prima donna wide receivers, the2008 team was the most dominant Giant team ever until Plaxico literally shot himself, and the team, in the foot. Thanks Plaxico.

"He beat the Patriots" Technically but the Patriots scored a total of 31 points in those 2 Super Bowls against the Giants. Eli doesn't get credit for that. His defense does. Now if he gets in, I'm fine with it even on the first ballot because in both those Super Bowls Eli had an incredible throw that if incomplete, the Giants lose. But I'm also ok if he doesn't get in. As a giants fan I say he gets in on the superbowl wins alone. He was on teams that beat the patriots twice. Once in their pinnacle of their prime and one they stole. He gets in for that alone. No other reason. Those playoff runs were great and big time runs. He beat Brady(2X) farve an Aron Rodgers team ghay wasn’t undefeated only because they say their starters the last time the cowboys were of any relevance beat Marty ice in what was him Prime and it goes in. That is a HOF resume.
