Main points :- 1. braking distance will decrease(apply both engine braking and brakes) 2. During downhills the engine braking helps to retard the vehicle which is very effective than brakes. 3. Fuel consumption will decrease

Hi, Syed I own a Honda Xblade(BS-VI), it's clearly mentioned in the owners manual to use engine braking.Engine braking doesn't do premature wear on any of your motorcycle parts.The engine is designed to handle stresses much higher than that.

He isn't telling specifically about your motorcycle, secondly it's nowhere mentioned in my bike to do so. So it might apply in others and not specifically to an individual

Engine braking will affect chain and sprocket but keeps ur engine like new. Better to replace chain sprockets instead of repairing an engine. Doing engine braking from last 3 years on my ktm1290 and even today my engine is smooth and powerful just like brand new. Replaced chain sprocket after 2 years.

There are no disadvantages of engine breaking on an engine whether it's a car or a motorcycle unless you do "DOWNSHIFTS without proper "REVMATCHING." Once you master the art of Rev Matching while downshifting and upshifting(not always required) even if your vehicle has no ABS, it won't matter. Just make sure you drain your engine oil at the right time and do use a good grade.

What I do is when there is traffic ahead I close the throttle and use the natural engine braking without downshifting and when I feel that the gear is too high for the speed then I pull in the clutch and let the bike roll then apply brakes to stop. This way I can avoid the adverse effects of aggresive downshifting while saving fuel too

Hello everyone I'm using engine breaking since 4/5 months and it's just a wonderful way of breaking as I'm getting better on engine breaking it feels like ABS and I've learned if I want to control my engine breaking power I just need to control pressure applied on Clutch I mean downshift and a slight pressure on Clutch can improve your engine breaking skills
@rakeshsiri16983 жыл бұрын
Engine braking reverses the direction of power flow... when we open the throttle, engine generates power and runs the wheel.. but when u do this "engine braking", the momentum of the bike will run the engine, meaning wheel will drive the chain and then chain will rotate the gear box, gear box to crank shaft and then to piston.. this is not the actual way of using an engine.... this is not what it is built for... and as he said about vacume, this plays a key role in damaging piston rings and gaskets... to keep ur engine cool and smooth, always use clutch when u r not opening the throttle (accelerating)... and yes "engine braking" is bad for clutch plates as well..
@hrushikeshjoshi89343 жыл бұрын
Right Bro what do you think of piston ring and Volve timing and also in goto gp race using front brake 60% engine brake 30% rear brake 10% they also replaced engine evry 3000 km why ? they can't use engine 10.000 km. They use 5 engine in one season.

Hi.. i did downhill riding with my bike...cuz whole road is downhill as i was going from hill station to plain area...i did ride my bike in 2nd gear or 3rd gear where required so that engine braking works better... however the downhill momentum is so steong that my bike reaches to 50kmph in 2nd gear... then i need to apply break to control cuz engine breaking didnt work 😤 however engine breake do work in plain areas.. but in downhill , momentum makes worst for engine braking... i keep using brakes and controlled speed and safely reached home... mind you that downhill roads had multiple hairpin curves 🥲

Please suggest reason and solution for my motorcycle Bajaj XCD 125. When I release throttle immediately after taking acceleration in slow speed in low gear i.e 2nd gear, I feel jerk. Similarly, if I want to accelerate in 2nd or 3 rd gear suddenly, a tik tik sound comes from engine and vanishes when it gains speed.

Engine braking doesn't wear out the chains. It's the bad maintenance which will wear it out quickly. Besides if the chain can handle a full on force from accelerations then why won't it be able to handle engine braking.
