This actually seems pretty cool. Most people could just use their phones but I could see this being extremely useful in a conference room setting or in your grandparents living room. The idea of having your smart TV also be able to make video calls is a pretty new concept. It'll have to be made more reliable & cheaper over time. I'm sure Amazon will sell a cheap adaptation of this in the future lol.

Great idea but if you have like Dish TV, you'll have to change your INPUT settings to the Portal device OR you'll need to use exclusively the Facebook Portal to do you TV viewing, Way to go facebook for finding a way to sell your information.

I got one just before the pandemic in Dec 2019- Got my Mom the portal with the screen, and we have the portal TV . It was the ONLY device I could have talked to my Mom on, timing turned out to be perfect as we couldn't see her through the pandemic any other way. I can't say too much bad about it, since it let my family keep in touch with my Mom and she felt a sense of connection to the family through the lockdown days where she'd have been totally isolated otherwise. It always worked very fast, no delays that really mattered. Unfortunately my Mom passed away this year, and we've never used the portal since. Useless for any other type of communication with able-bodied people really. I can't be too down on it as it was perfect for that last year with my Mom- but not exactly the product FB was probably wanting, and I can't recommend it for much else.

Best for people who live very far apart and don't have smart tvs or want to rely on their phones for some of the streaming apps

I used one for about 6 months, its fine if both parties have a good stable connection and not too far from the router as I had occasions where the call dropped out and picture and sound quality suffered. Its better than using a tablet or phone for hands freedom and no up the nose shots, also has some streaming apps built in like amazon prime
