Crane's treasure is just a red herring. Wastelanders is a side quest. The main quest is the original quest to launch a nuke on the Queen.

Yep, and it was so very obvious that boy-is-key meant pip-boy. But I do hope that we see the Crane decision again. Maybe if you chose to save him, he is the key to reversing the Scorch plague for those infected or if you killed him, then something bad happens later on because of that choice. Although, it would be cool to find a boy (ala The Invasion) who can either control the Scorched or be the source of reversing it.

You missed the thousands of little encounters, easter eggs, and weird stuff that happens in the wild. SO many people miss these because they fast travel everywhere. For example, all the Sickleman clues or Indrid Cold or the Skyrim easter egg or poor Rufus! Or all the clues that FO76 is just a simulation (lo, that would explain the bugs as they are just holes in the matrix). The cryptids (and the cryptid questlines) are some of my favorite aspects of the game. Especially Calvin's tale and it was so fun to discover more about Calvin later on.

Here’s the my breakdown of 76 appeal: If you play single player that want a start and finish this game is not for you. It is a live service game the story will be evolving thru it’s lifespan. If u can accept this there are multiple faction stories to go thru. If you’re a camp/settlement builder, I mean the ones that take pics and post on social forums to show it, this game will appeal to you if u accept that it’s a live service game and how it works but there are plenty of base building plans and more got/gets added each seasons scoreboard its not required to purchase anything to build whatever. It hits different when players go to ur camp and give the nice camp emote 😂. Fallout 76 is not the same game since release it’s evolved into basically streamlined FO4 with a online component . But really ,if you’re a fallout fan you’re doing yourself a disservice by skipping 76.

I've tried playing fallout 76 many different times, as a major fallout fan. The last time I played it was a 2 or 3 years ago, and I remember I stopped because my inventory was full and I refused to pay a monthly subscription to be able to play the game with a proper inventory. Is it still the same way? If they fixed the way inventory works I'll try it again.

@@CadgerChristmasLightShow I could advise to manage your stash and inventory, the only things you need more them 100 is plastic, copper, lead adhesive and powder and even it must be capt at less them 300, the rest of the scrap category must be put in the red donate boxes at the trains stations and hubs like white springs, , fort atlas, crater and foundation. Hording food, chem and alcohol is waste of space, the game renew all the time the resources to collect. It is the MMO side of this game, it is not like the others were you take something and need to wait a week of gametime to come back and loot again. Take the steampack and steampack super for example, we need no more them 150 for an event just to have some spare to help another player in need. The rest of it will go wright to the donate boxes cose the vents will give you a bunch and you will find some more scattered around the world. Proper management will make the game turn from trash to pure bliss playing with the folks you find. In game i am flaviohms and you can add me to play along.

Hidden gem. 4k hours in and still having a blast. I love the community and the building aspects the most. If this was a single player game what would be the drive to continue building and designing new camps just to post them online? I'd probably have stopped playing after a few hundred hours. The chance to see other camps and share my builds is part of the fun. There is a ton of lore in 76 in the holotapes and side quests. The Mistress of Mystery happened in the past, but it should be in the top 10 lists of best quest lines in the FO universe. I don't know, but fighting the super mutants in the Steel Dawn update happened and I participated in fighting them off and saving Fort Atlas. All the survivors have a better chance to not turn into Scorched because I made a vaccine. I found and killed the Beast of Beckley. There are plenty of games that are based on past events to drive you in your quest. Every good game or movie should have some backstory to make you care. The server wide events are easily accessible for solo or team players. There's very little in the game that can't be completed playing solo if you have the right build and dedication. I will agree that playing a second character was a bit rough, but there aren't but a handful of games that I've finished and would want to go back to play again. Skyrim comes to mind. The journey to All Powerful was fun, but I hate saying it, going through all that dialog twice doesn't appeal to me. I can't tell you how many people I've met in the game that have said 76 was their first FO game and after reaching high tier levels wish they could start the game over without their current knowledge, just to experience all those little moments of discovery again. In closing, I'd have to say any game you had fun in, met new friends and put enough hours into to get to at least level 50 can't be all that bad, especially if you pick it up on sale. Sounds like you wanted next level action when compared to FO4, but instead 76 is just a chill, laid back, easy going, relaxing, entertaining place to hang out, build, kill a few things, hunt for new stuff and meet new people, kind of game.

Yep. I've been playing since launch and I really envy those just starting the game. Also, he missed all the small cool interactions and easter eggs that happen in the wild. Mistress of Mystery questline was a blast. I do think we need much more content to be added (questlines!) because Wastelanders was such a huge win. I've played 76 more that I have any of the other FO games.

It’s a game for people that like to do busy work. Constantly managing weight, farming resources for ammo and food buffs. Grinding away at scrip for RNG gear rolls. Daily quests, daily ops, events, expeditions, acquiring plans. What always brings me back to 76 is the camp building. It’s relaxing and I’ve gotten pretty good at it over the years. Making a camp that’s easily accessible to other players while looking natural to the setting and landscape is probably the most difficult aspect of the game. For me anyway.

Hidden gem...I didnt like it when I first tried it, years ago. Now, a couple of my friends convinced me to try it, and I got hooked. A realy hidden gem on plain sight, but I think it is very different playing with friends, I dont think it is a game to play solo. I allways loved gta, some fps like COD and those major titles, but with this one happened to me the same as with Ark Survival Evolved: a descredited game by many, I hated it on the first try, then tried again and realy understood the game, and got hooked like with a drug...despite the many failures and glitches...something Ark and now Fallout 76 have, that got me addicted like almost no other game, and yeah, both are not, for sure, the typical game I would consider including in a best games ever list...but the thing is, I spent so many hours on Ark, that Im forced to include it! It feels like the worst game ever and at the same time the best game ever, its weird. And I suspect the same can happen with Fallout76...it has many differences, obviously the general theme and story, Ark its also good solo, and for example if you die in F76 you keep all your stuf (besides junk) wherever you respawn, which is already a major difference, but it also has "something" that attracts me, like Ark. In the end is just a mater of taste, but I advise anyone to insist with this one for a bit, before deciding if you hate it or love it, its one of those, no mid-term.

The Wastelanders quest line is not the main quest line. Well, it's a main quest, but not *the* main quest. The main quest is the one ending with you launching a nuke. Kind of surprised the only mention of it was the Raider quest line. Not sure if it was intentionally omitted, or what. Since you kept referring to Wastelanders as the main quest and never addressed the OG directly I'm led to believe you may have the two confused.

There are actually holotapes about a girl 'hunting' a scorchbeast and together with a mirelurk and other people who 'survived' the fog of the scorchbeast, and then you realized she was a scorched all that time, the mirelurk didnt attack her because they where both scorched Also, that is not the end of the game, there is still not end of the game, you have to rmeember this is not ordinary fallout, is a mmo fallout, its made different, it builts up, it adds, it has bigger ambient storytelling than any other fallout, you can found nonmarked quest everywhere, and actually, mainquest are always boring on fallout games, is the sidequest what make it good, and nonmarked quest and ambient storytelling is amazing, and best fallou stories on other fallouts are usually the ones whrn you have to find out what happened without nobody to tell you, example is some vaults on fo3 andnfonv where everyone is already dead and you discover what happened so you can find something there, just like, oh, wait, fo76 Actually, they just announced a map expansion to the south for this year, and it has to be with atlas observatory pre BoS And for people saying the "read is boring in an rpg" for storytelling, guess what? First 2 fallout almost didnt have voicebacting, so a lot of reading was needed and still are AWESOME rpg games, fo2 is still my favorite over the others

I've said this elsewhere but when the game finally dies, I hope that Bethesda adds a questline wherein some baddies get control of the nukes and your character tries to stop them. Some choices are to be made and then at the end, Appalachia is nuked into oblivion! Players can log in on the last day to watch an extremely horrifying and beautiful show as Appalachia is consumed in nuclear fire. Follows is a scene with the consequences of your choices (who survives, what answers you may get, etc.) Then the game can be ported to an offline version. Maybe your memory pod opens up, you realize the whole thing was a simulation, and you really get to exit Vault 76. THAT would be a very Fallout ending!

@@marcusisahooper SBQ is (one of) the major event in the game. Where 20 other vault dwellers might join you to fight the big bad so the scorched doesnt spread to other parts of America. You keep thinking these events are just a regular public event in a game, but these are the major thing that happen in Appalachia and we make some dent in history. Its an MMO, the tricky thing is other players will have to experience their own big bad so when we do it over and over, you think "oh its just another SBQ". No, in actuality we are probably helping a noob/player first major big bad in their solo story.

No. This is why crafting components are needed in large quantities for constant crafting and repair because you get such a small stash. They try to push you to buy Fallout 1st just for inventory management so yeah... When you are doing that then the game is not worth it. I played the game since Beta and saw all the changes as they came. You can absolutely play this game as a single player, especially if you purchase Fallout 1st for the months you want to play and always join your private server. Not a must but definitely can make a better experience. Even if you play on a public server, you almost never see people because the map is huge and there isnt that many people on a server at a time. That said, this game is absolutely worth it if you are a Fallout fan. It can provide hours and hours of amazing content. From exploring, to quest, to events, etc. ....it has everything you would expect from a FO game. It took about 400 hrs of gameplay before I got a little bored with it. Compare that to Starfield that I got bored with after about 70 hrs.

Pretty overplayed twist but still pretty cool. With the updates you see like 10 people before Rose. Same with the Overseer's quest line, following her trail, not knowing if she's alive or dead. Just kidding you meet her almost immediately for another quest. They shoot themselves in the foot so often with the story. No, it will never be a RPG that allows you to change the game world. In 76 your not the chosen one. Your just a guy. I get that being just another guy can be a deal breaker for some people. Personally I'm ok with that. I build camps, help new players and hang out with friends.

Tbh, being "just a random person" has its own appeal. It's also what drew me into Kenshi...just starting out as a random guy, or random squad that the entire world will absolutely beat the brakes off of given the chance was what made it interesting. The earlier Elder Scrolls games also had that "just a guy" vibe as well. Even after becoming the "Hero of Kvatch" in Oblivion didn't really earn you much respect from other areas until you did stuff for them too

"Crane's Treasure" is the idea of what could be in the vault, no one knew what was actually in it, he hadn't gotten in because he didn't have a pipboy, which is probably what he was obsessing over right before he became scorched, so that's the last figment of his conscious that he keeps repeating. He's not consciously trying to help you find the treasure. The "main quest" you played isn't the games main story quest its the quest line added with the Wasteland's expansion. The Raider quests you liked ARE actually a segment of the games main story line which is about the scorched and SPOILERS -------- figuring out how to get inoculated from the scorched plague, learn about the scorched, and eventually stop them from spreading further by finding and killing the scorched beast queen as the games original final boss.

So I assumed that quest line was an offshoot of the “main quest!” I think the game doesn’t make it clear the Overseer’s caches are the “main quest!” After all, you actually get to meet the Overseer in the wastelanders quest line!

Psst: Everyone who created/worked on/developed Fallout 76 prior to 2023 is gone. They ALL retired or resigned. Jeff, Mark, Nate... everyone who matters. Gone. The game may have stabilized and built a following, but it's morally bankrupt... and yes, it's insanely boring for anyone not looking for the most casual of casual gaming experiences. Oh yea, if it matters, I have over 5k hours in F76 and have played since b.e.t.a. I've finished every season, and I have every achievement and trophy... so I do actually know what I am talking about.

I have to agree with this vid, I have played all the Fallout series and this from inception was a soulless attempt at doing a "Live Service" game with a well known ip, the fact it took them this long to shoehorn some character into the game well at the same time missing the point to such a degree that it makes you question the whole business model of this product. As I stated before the overall feeling of the game is a soulless live service game with the constant carrot of future improvements that never really fixes the core issues of the narrative and flow of the game.

I sort of liked the Ghost-town aspect of the game when it came out. Figuring out stories when everyone was dead. I felt like a detective trying to discover what happened and solve the problem where everyone else failed. I even printed out a large map and pinned clues to it (Overseer was here, Madagan did this, etc.). Now, it seems like I can throw a rock and hit an NPC.

Even though the storyline of FO76 was pretty bad, meeting others, building stuff, stopping by others camps, doing quests together was amazing. And the whole post apocalyptic has something special to it. I got to a point where the daily grind didn't really appeal to me anymore and I just quit. However, since I've stopped playing I haven't really been able to find a good replacement. I really hoped STARFIELD would fill in the gap. But even though it looks nice, it feels empty and I really miss random encounters, especially from "real" people. What games have you guys been playing after FO76?

First off, great video! Entertaining, well edited and funny. Second, I have to disagree on one small point... The MOST annoying about teams is having the achievement for clearing the bunker and launching a nuke handed to you because you are on a building team (for the extra XP as you roam around admiring player built fantasies and looking for deals) and one of the other teammates completes a run with their friends (or Solo if they are level 900 or whatever). I think I had *just* cracked level 130 or so, had spent a frankly embarrassing amount on a Fallout 1st sub and extra Atoms when something I HAD to have came to the shop... And that moment and totally unearned achievement wrecked the game for me forever. It may sound melodramatic, but true. I just hope they don't bring the same monetization to Fallout 4, now that paid mods are back.

Only if you want multiplayer fallout and that is it, just a MMO-LIKE Fallout experience.

Its pretty clear that you went into this nit liking it and only looked for points confirming that, you didnt even talk about endgame and events which for most people is the most fun thing. Im not a game dev and I dont play other MMO, but idk why the fans keep comparing 76 with the previous games that are made for solo player. Ofc it's different. Making a full story for one main character compared to a game for multiple players, with several (faux) choice, that plays the game in different level of completion is definitely not easy. And people keep wanting it to have the high standard of the Fallout franchise. I mean, look at RDRo. Almost the same case, but at least 76 is still thriving and RDRo is basically dead. And like you said, there are stories here and there that are good, but definitely not the main. And maybe some of you can make a better coherent bombastic story for 76, but I'm not that smart lol This game is not a "gem", but it is (finally it was in it's 3rd year) a decent game for fallout fans to have fun and live as if you're inside the fallout universe with fellow fallout fans. I met so many new friends in the game just like you, sometimes we'd just chat for hours in game and do tours of our camps lol Male, female, young, old, anyone. We got tons of things to do, tons of things to challenge us, fuck around and find out, so many options. Like it or not, 76 is more advanced and have more options without the need of any mods to install like other Fallout games. If you keep playing with a solo player kind of mindset, you'll never enjoy 76 the way it should be So, 76 is just different and its ok. Sadly It's also got blind haters that lives in the past, spreading wrong information. On another note, honestly your boredom is really ruining the validity review of this video. It's half done so you can only share half of what you enjoy. Regardless of your boredom, you should've still make a complete video about what you experienced when you play months ago. And now (im sorry for being honest), you're like a sulking child that doesn't wanna do your task because it's not fun for you anymore. It's not the game's fault that you didn't finish the video, you're the one who postponed doing it. I'm not saying you cant be bored with a game, it's your feeling, it's valid. I even commend you for playing longer than half of the reviewers that only played up to level 10 max. But to have a youtube channel, and making a "review video" I'd expect more. Tell the viewers all the good and the bad.

The real main story is doing quests that shows how everyone died but Bethesda added cranes treasure to steer you away from that, before wasteland update the first place you probably ended up was flat woods and you look and see dead bodies every where and you find holotapes and computer entries about how they helping each other fight and live and they was either murdered or died of drug overdose, or maybe you ended up at Morgantown and find everyone turned to scorch they too was just trying to be helpful and rebuild but they turned into something of there worst nightmares and a lot of people didn't pay attention to this they just complained about no human NPCs and so Bethesda added them but they don't feel like part of the landscape they feel like people cosplaying at people they don't really add to the story that was there at launch.

Definitely a hidden gem. I only started playing F76 back in September of last year and already got over 200 hours in and I enjoy what the game is and what it offers in terms of a multiplayer Fallout. Ive been a big fallout fan since Fallout 3 and I'm mad at myself for not trying the game sooner, ngl I was put of playing after seeing how bad the launch was and how empty the world was without npcs. From playing the past couple of months I can say the game is definitely worth checking out, for the most part everyone ive met on the game has been super helpful, friendly and ive made a good few friends from playing. At times its grindy but Ive played mmos so its fine for me, quests can be a bit annoying with constantly traveling but they're not the worst but i really enjoy the faction based quests. It is a live service game and not for singleplayer but dont let it put you off because the game is worth checking out, from the Camp building (my favourite thing to do), collecting clean items is fun, the events are fun and consistent while playing and help break up the grind, seasonal events are good and semi regular, weapon grinding can be tedious but not the worst. Doesn't mean the game is perfect or without it's flaws because it definitely has them. Most of them for me are personal flaws I have such as maybe raising gear level cap and the crashes but the game is definitely in a much better state than at launch and shouldn't be overlooked.

Sorry Mr. Hooper but your conclusion on what type of game FO76 was incorrect. The majority of your video was keenly focused on the narrative aspect of the game, then finished with the game relies soley on its community to keep you engaged. You are clearly looking for a game that gives you a guided experience with heavy narrative themes. That is perfectly fine but that is NOT what FO76 is. This game is not for everyone, but too many video's and comments have misunderstood this game and how to go about enjoying it. FO76 is for people who know how to set their own goals, so you create your own gameplay loop with activities that you find interesting. Players can experiment with different characters builds like Aristocrates, Bloody, and Junky then figure out which legendary effects they like to have on different weapons. They can learn the ways to max out Vats effectivness by increasing Crit damage, Actions Points, and AP regeneration. Learn about all the buffs from food, bobbleheads, and magazines. Learn which items are valuble to stock you vendor with to get good sales like .45 rounds, camp plans, and legendary weapons. Each season introduces a new weapon, armor, and camp theme into the game. And of course camp building where each player adds their own creativity camp to the landscape of appalachia. I could continue..... This video never covered player mutations, the diverse weapons that are fun to slay enemies, camp shelters, seasons, selling and purchasing items from other player vending machines, and other game features. It seems evident that you have not put enough time into this game to give it a proper review. It's perfectly fine if FO76 is not the type of game for you or others. But at least accuratly describe the end game so viewers who have never played have the right idea how players spend their time. A large part of this video was obsessed with Crane's side quest when this is an open world game where you choose to go off on your own or sink your teeth into a quest.

I’ve been playing since scoreboard one and i would say it’s a waste of your life. Unless you use glitches and a lot of them, as the best ones have been patched, you’ll spend seven years playing everyday and £24 a month to get to the level you need to be at which is level 700 for the cards you need for your perks cards to max out. As a long term player I’ll continue playing the long grinds to level up, I’ll also take breaks for real life stuff which is forgotten about when your playing this game. The game crashes every single day and multiple times when your grinding. The game sucks and many players leave for six to twelve months and if your a team you’ll not find anyone to team up with. There’s so many negatives to say they’ll out weight why long term players still play today.

I felt like they took the worst parts of fallout 4 and condensed it into a single amalgamated mess.

It’s an absolute waste of time to play this when there’s way better things out there
