Another thing that I think is a good selling point of this game is, unlike in most MMOs you don't have to log in every day to keep from falling behind. YoshiP has been asked by fans if there are any plans to add more daily stuff to do, because they were getting bored, and he basically said, "Nope; we don't want you to feel like you have to log in every day. If you're not having fun right now, take a break. The game will still be here for you when you feel like you're ready to return." This is great for someone who works long hours and/or is married with kids, and just doesn't have the time to play every day. It also keeps the game from feeling like some chore that you have to do, which helps prevent burnout.

I agree. I'd even say that this is really one of the best things about the game. I love that the game doesn't stress us. It also lets my partner take longer breaks and we can still play together. The base game of FF14 is actually on HEAVY DISCOUNT at the moment so it's actually a really good time to buy on top of having the fantastic free trial. She didn't go into it in the video but there ARE some restrictions when you're on the free trial and if you start to chaff against those restrictions before reaching the end of it but you already know that you want to continue playing the game then it's a good time to buy right now even before the new expansion drops. Because of the sales paired with the hype of a new expansion the game will always start to buzz again with a lot of traffic in the final few months leading up to the expansions release.

The free trial alone makes FFXIV worth trying. And it has something for almost everyone, between the great story, the crafting system, and the high-end raiding content. IMO the most egregious lack is a social performance mode for Dancers similar to what Bards get. It could be set up as a combination of the dancing system SWG (but without the buffing/healing SWG dancers provided) had with the Blue Mage spell collection system (but unlocking new dance moves to use in putting on a show instead of spells to use in combat).

I only started playing at Endwalker release because my friend bought me the entire game for Christmas. The only reason I hadn't started sooner was money. I ended up blowing through the story to endgame content in 7 months, and that was actually paying attention and not skipping anything. I play pretty much every day. If I miss a day it's not because I don't want to, but because there's just not enough time between work and socializing to log in. I thought Realm was interesting but admittedly a bit dry. Heavensward is my all time favorite part of the story content and I find myself going back and revisiting some of the cutscenes through Unending Journey. I also love just running the Heavensward trusts just so I can spend time with Aymeric and Haurchefant. And the story just gets better from there. I would consider myself causal and I do love getting certain older stuff when I do my roulettes ( I know how much people groan at the Crystal Tower Raids) and it's fun getting people talking and joking around in chat during that content. I'm not hardcore enough for Savages and Ultimates but with the new Dragonsong ultimate that dropped recently, with it's famously alternate timeline story, I have a mighty need to do it. Not for the bragging rights, I don't care about that honestly, but because of the alternate possibility. I don't consider myself good enough to do such content, but I do have some friends who are better at high end that say they'll help me attempt it. All in all, I love this game, it's become my life. I will sing it's praises from the mountaintops. Just try it, the first part is free! :D

I couldn't have said it better myself, Avy! I discovered FFXIV back when Endwalker first released, and honestly, I couldn't get enough of it. Well, at least until the massive queue times came about... Other than that, someone could consider a lot about this game exciting. Now, to all the other readers, if you are looking into getting into Final Fantasy, I suggest you use the free trial like Avy suggested. From my experience, if you rush to the end game as soon as possible, you will get burnt out before the subsequent expansion pack releases. There's a lot, and learning it all at once can be intimidating, so take your time. Yoshi P. (the director of FFXIV) has even said he wants you to play other games and not feel the need to spend the next 2 years of your life on FFXIV. Nowdays, I need help finding the motivation to play the game after making the abovementioned mistakes. I played the game for 11-12 months non-stop every day, always rushed through new content, and only paid attention to the story until recently. Do I regret it? Yes! I have taken more time to enjoy FFXIV's content and not drive myself to burnout.

The thing with the story... yes, you can skip it. And you still have an amazing game to play. I dont advice it, simply for one reason: unlike pretty much every other MMO out there, FF14 takes its story serious, and you feel it. Nothing is out of place, nothing is just filler, everything will be answered and the things, that arent, will be answered come time. There are no open threads, the devs actually care about the world they have created, the characters living in it. They invite you to join with them on this journey, discover all the secrets of the realm and beyond... Yes, you can skip it, but rest assured, its worth your time. Its absolutely worth your time. Every minute, every seemingly useless cutscene, every side quest, every dialog... they all create a mosaic of another world that you are now a part of and its worth to discover, not just for the raids and gameplay.

Another point (mostly) in favour of the game is its accessability, not only to new but also disabled players! Full disclosure, I am not disabled in any way that impacts gaming. But an FC mate of mine is legally blind and they not only play through the 'normal'/casual/main story content without issue*, they regularly take on some of the hardest fights there are in this game (and stomp them)! Over the years the team has gotten better and better at impelemnting design choices that make the game accessible, such as announcing boss attacks with visual AND audio cues, clear and distinct markers for attack types, colour correction options if you're colourblind like another player I know, etc. But again, I'm not the target audience for these features, so please chime in and add to/correct what I've said if you know more! *I do know of one caveat on this front: In the latest expansion, there is one solo duty that breaks with that accessible design philosophy. Here is hoping that SE will react to player feedback, and tweak it to make it so that anyone can play through it, soon!!

I love it but the biggest setback is gonna be the main story quest. To go from new account to finishing the msq will take you hundreds of hours. Im talking if you play daily/almost daily you will spend MONTHS trying to finish it. I got back into it recently having not played endwalker and there was alot of post shadowbringers quests. It took me doing this pretty constantly 3 weeks. After that i just felt burned out because as much as i enjoy the main story it has way too much filler. Ff14 veteran here. The pros! The MMO is solid for one playthrough of the story. The music is fantastic! But i would say it starts to have generic soundtracks around shadowbringers. The classes are well attuned but they play almost exactly off one another. I can on each finger on one hand how many unique class rotations exist. Thiis game has some of the Greatest and most awe inspiring fights i can imagine. From mechanics to soundtrack to boss design. But you can see a shift of quality around shadowbringers. Again, the game started to become casual oriented around shadowbringers. Which isnt a bad thing at all! But it did affect a lot of the quality of what an MMO would offer for the future. And it's telling people are upset since 6.2, we have had a decline of player retention unfortunately That's it on the pros The cons.. After that, there's not much really going for it. Right now, the MMO is struggling to give players, new and old, any decisive content to really wanna waste your time away playing it. Yoshit P has introduced glorified 4 man content as an excuse to add more variety to their MMO but its reception is always in the dumps Their latest ultimate fight is known to be the only fight where people were just sighing away why they wasted so much time on an awfully tuned fight while the devs stripped away everything that made it fun. There's no class build outside of crit stacking. You dont get a say in the matter. The devs have actually made every other stat useless in the MMO. No, thats not a joke. They have deliberately destroyed any class building in a MMO which is crazy to me! FF14 has unfortunately become a r18 simulator with how many mods exist to create such an atmosphere. Its all you will see on most websites pertaining to the FF14. You may hear about the game having a great community and folks enjoying the game to no end, but that's far from the truth. Reality is, many players stick to mods to make the game better. And the community is significantly worse than wow. And much more strange. Think of a hivemind that never found its queen and you only ever see young people who have a fixed vision of the world. Boot it up and youll see what i mean! All in all, i love this MMO but the devs did not love me wasting away my time in it. Its a media that i picked up in the start of heavensward, fell in love by the middle of heavensward, found a home during stormblood, saw a future of amazement in shadowbringers, and eventually deeply regretted staying during endwalker. End Walker being the expansion story that had made sacrifices from previous expansion stories worthless. I hope you enjoyed!

Thank you, I was looking for something like that. I bought EW back then and cleared most of the content during one weekend and simply hat no clue what to do. The game doesn't tell and the community suggested only weird or creepy RP activities. Sad to see that nothing changed. I was hoping that the devs might have changed and for once gave the players some content to actually play the game... it's insane how FF14 community is the only community that is willing to pay for a game that you can't really play... literally doesn't work in any other game.

Hello villanious, you seem an expert around MMO and I want to ask for advice. I played Guild Wars 2 for like 200 hours, I think, I had 100% world completion was halfway through all the story journal and did daily Fractals but one day I realized the game just wasn't fun to play. The combat gameplay was kinda stressful and the world itself looks awful. It's way too bright, the virtual sun hurts my eyes and there are too many effects. I think OSRS looks better than GW2 considering how many mobs they've thrown carelessly into the world in GW2. I deleted my Norn and never come back to GW2 I also despise the ascended/exotic gear grind. It feels like a singleplayer achievement hunting game. Then I found OSRS. It is a cool game but I can't see myself paying membership for OSRS I also think I'll get bored out of doing quests and maxing stats to 99, also the game is very basic. Then I found Final Fantasy 14 and the world looks beautiful and cozy. You can see the dark nightsky and even see the stars. It just looks pretty and cozy, nostalgic to me. Should I give Final Fantasy 14 a try or wait for Path of Exile 2? I have never played Path of Exile or Final Fantasy... Is FF14 worth trying or better wait for PoE2 or what???

It's been over a week that I'm considering to start playing the game I'm not gonna lie, all I see is so much info (meaning that the game seems to be very, VERY complex) that I'm kinda "afraid" to actually start it. Also because I'm kinda anti-social and suffer from social anxiety and anxiety itself and the thought of facing a new community and probably needing to ask for assistance more than I'm used to is kinda scary if you know what I mean. I come from MMOs like Star Wars the Old Republic and New World and the communities there can be really toxic sometimes.
@shadowbanned304411 ай бұрын
The opposite is the case. The game is very straight forward. You have no talents diversity like in other games, you don't can't even pull as many mobs as you want due to invisible walls. You can't overpower or underpower any boss because the game doesn't allow you that. You can't even join with too little or too many healers or tanks. The game dictates everything for you. On top of that the content is VERY limited. FF14 is basically the opposite of complex or a large MMORPG.

It's actually funny how FF14 community is so far away from reality and lives in their own bubble. You can watch a billion FF14 videos and you will never find one that actually covers what you can do in the end game (besides some very abstract and meaningless versions). After I quit EW because I finished the entire content back then within one weekend, I really didn't know what to do and people only suggested some very weird or creepy RP activities. I later heard that FF14 devs wanted to implement something like M+ in WoW. Now, again, thinking to try out FF14 and looking for some videos what you can do in the end game nowadays, because FF14 content was always VERY limited. In fact it was so limited and short, that even Yoshi P once publically said people should play something else until the next big patch. Why is it that pretty much not a single FF14 content creator properly covering the activities in the end game? Is the content THAT bad (and/or meaningless or boring/repetitive) after hitting max level?

As a WoW player who tried (but stoped) playing FF14, my 3 biggest issue are (mostly the first one) : - It feel more like a solo game with mmo elements than a mmorpg. I've had friends playing it, and unlike WoW, we can't level together, it's mostly "yea dude, do your msq for like 80 hours, and once you finished it and are 70 than we can do raids and dungeons". In WoW, when with guild or friends, we can just create a character and chain dungeons together and quest together from lv1 - I'm not that much into jrpg design/story (catgirls, everyone looks like kpop signer, power of friendship), but more in the DnD design (beards, european folklore monsters, european design for characters) - the community is awesome and super helpfull but men, why is a good part of it horny catgirl or horny dragon girls staying in capital cities But the biggest FF14 wins to me are : - The helpfull communities - the game not feeling like a second job and respecting player's wallet and time - it's pretty even if the characters look like they have a plastic skin

I remember when I joined back in Stormblood the free trial was limited to two weeks. Granted, in that time you had no restrictions up to level 50. It convinced me then to buy the game; can't imagine how more involved you can get with the unlimited trial up to level 60. No game is for everyone, but FF14 does a very good try at it. I'd say the story in A Realm Reborn/2.0/Up to Level 50 (whichever metric you want to use for "the story when they relaunched the game")) is actually the weakest part of the game's storyline... but by "weakest" I mean "as good as most MMORPG storylines", so while that part might not be inspiring, it's a good, solid foundation to build on. and WOW, did they build on it! So yeah. If anyone wants to try it, try it; you likely won't waste your time. Even if you don't like it, at least you'll know you're just not going to get into it and won't waste money on it.

So I told a few of my friends to play thru the free trial. If they played all the way to stormblood I'd gladly pay for the game but they just have to pay entry for sub which isn't much given the amount the pay for skins *looks at league of legends* lol. So all they would need is the base edition and then buy the new expansion and they get everything? Sounds good, ill gladly buy them the base or complete when it's on sale.

Oddly enough my partner and I both really disliked HW, maybe even hated it. But we enjoyed something about literally every other xpac. I realize I’m the minority here but I do not think we needed an entire xpac to get Ishgard to join the alliance, nor does the war we help them finish really ever get brought back up in any meaningful way. Estinien is great but he doesn’t even really show up or become a Scion till late STB/SHB. I feel like most of the major plot points of HW could’ve been summed up and we could’ve focused a bit more heavily on finding the rest of the scions/The warriors of Darkness which were just kinda shoved in at the end.

I hope it does not become a Star Trek prodigy just like Final Fantasy 12 storyline was consider to be a Star Wars prodigy. I recognize one of the dialogue we can choose from the dialogue, “Where no one as gone before.” Also, the Hrothgar reminds me of the Klingons. Even though, the new world is representing the Americas or even the Caribbean or Pacific Islands. I cannot think that the development team are big Star Trek fans as well.

I’m big stupid and just straight up bought the game through Steam so I didn’t get to take advantage of the free trial. If you’re thinking about trying the game, USE THE FREE TRIAL!! Even if you think it will be easier to just buy it and pay the subscription. You will save so much money and decision making if you use the free trial.

So asking for your opinion or your thoughts I finish stormblood and am in after stormblood do you think I will be able to complete shadowbringer and endwalker in time before dawntrail? I know this might be random to ask but I genuinely would like to know if it's possible at least

so many vids about the "great community" and how nice everyone is, i did like 4 daylie roulettes today and on avarage 1-2 ppl said "hi" or something at the start (including me) and about 1-3 said "ty for grp" or somehting like that at the end, thats it. (80% of them used a macro for that, i could tell so they didnt even bother to type anything and klicked a macro kotkey) alot of the time when i say somehting ppl dont even respond, kinda feels like im playing with bots at times.

and don't remind me of great community of terrible players who don't want to learn, want to get carried through even easy content and lash on you for attempting to teach them...on max level. this community is not just toxic, its a gaslighting passive agressive toxic positive community, its literally the worst i saw in any online game. i prefer to be called slurs if i screwed up than this bs.

If you look past how it appears, you will find a very fun game with a deeply developed community. Like any community, you are going to find weirdos; such as a male roegadyn dating a lalafell Or a mob of cat girls drooling over a hrothgar

What sold me on the game was the trailers, they look like they have so much story to tell and content and the dawntrail just made me make the buy, it's my first mmo so I didn't know what to expect and now I'm just addicted.

Not really. It’s so bloated. There’s a decent story here. Decent. Most of your time is spent running around doing stupid fetch quests. Like 90 percent. Maybe 20 hours of good story in 200 hours of playtime. It never fails that you get a plot twist or get close to a climax and are sent off to gather grass or catch sheep. Yeah it’s an mmo, but it still manages to suffer severe pacing issues. Like really severe. The dungeons are all the same. Fight 5-6 packs of mins, boss, repeat this two more times. No pulling mechanics, real strategies, nothing. Most people just run to the next objective pulling mobs on the way and you burn them down in a giant pack as there’s little danger. The boss fights really just depend on if you know the simple mechanics or not. Yes I realize there is hard end game content, but 90 percent is a joke. So there’s some good things here. But it’s deeply flawed and so predictable mechanics wise.
